This is it. The month everyone has been waiting for. I hope you enjoyed your appetizer (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=392) last month. We have now reached our main course, the holiday release schedule. If you're in the mood for something light please give Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts a try; of course if you fancy something a little bit more heavy I'm sure you'll enjoy the hefty portions of Resistance 2 and/or Gears of War 2; and for desert Sonic Unleashed. Whatever you're in the mood for, November has something for everyone (Even Petz: Catz Clan, that James was looking for).

Now the only question is, what will you be having this evening?

Wow, I just can't believe how much shit is released on Wii and DS.

I'll be getting:
Quantum of Solace, Mirror's Edge, Call of Duty: World at War, Tomb Raider Underworld, Gears of War 2 and Left 4 Dead.

Isn't Prince of Persia scheduled for November?

cawblen

Prince of Persia was pushed to Dec. 2nd or 3rd i believe

Resistance 2 and Valkyria Chronicles for me, and that does it for the year. Maybe Persona 4 in December if only to avoid insane eBay prices later on.

Yeah sitting here at work I started jotting down the games and dates on a sticky note....then going through your list I'm seeing so much more.

And it's not really money that's the problem, it's time.

KoF Collection? And Metal Slug 7! I've heard MS7 might be on XBLA...but damn.

Too much! I'm just now finishing BiA and playing through Fracture...I still have to go through Dead Space that requires mandatory play time before moving on.

I'm still trying to finish my last meal. Thanks though.

It's like when the waitress asks if you'll be having dessert. Good Lord! I just ate 2 southwest eggrolls, 4 buffalo wings, 5 cheese sticks, a 1/4 lb burger, french fries, and 4 beers. I'm done! Check please.:p

For me, Left 4 Dead and Chrono Trigger DS are the only must-buys for November without waiting for reviews and impressions first.

Rogue_hunter
10-26-2008, 06:58 PM
Mirror's Edge, Resistance 2 and Left 4 Dead are the purchases for that month, with Dead Space, Fallout 3 and Little Big Planet this month.

I had initially planned for only 4 games in the fall, Left 4 Dead, Resistance 2, Fallout 3 and Little Big Planet, but fits' review of Dead Space, and having played Mirror's Edge at PAX convinced me for those.

Day 1 Purchase:

Left 4 Dead
WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009

I am highly offended that you would call these games THE heavy hitters. As if to say Fable 2, Saints Row 2, Far Cry 2, Crysis Warhead, and Stalker Clear Sky are the appetizers of the season. How dare you sir. How dare you indeed.

November is no doubt a great month to be had, but THE month? You are pretending to know the future. You make me sick. ;)

I never though the putting back of the PC mirrors edge would be a good thing... and well... it's not buuuuuut at lest it means the games i have to buy are a bit more spread out than they other wise would have been heh

November is usually the month that moves the consoles... hence "Heavy Hitters." Sure Fable II is a great game, but will it move as much as Gears 2, I seriously doubt it. I would say the same in regards to Far Cry vs. Fallout. They were the appetizers, because they got us started; in some cases October was so good to some that they won't really get started with November until December...

Personally, I skipped the appetizers, those will be my discount purchases.

Day one buy:
Gears of War 2 (I'll be in Vegas when this releases)

Possible buys:
Mirrors Edge
Sonic
The Last Remnant

Virtual Machine
10-27-2008, 11:23 AM
All over:

- Call of Duty: World at War
- The Last Remnant
- Gears of War 2

Most likely:

- Resistance 2

Probably not barring unforseen awesomeness:

- Mirror's Edge
- Left 4 Dead

I'm saving my money this month. I have to work my way through Far Cry 2, Disgaea 3, The Witcher (finally getting around to it), Little Big Planet, and kick my Soul Calibur 4 addiction before I can even *think* about picking up more games.

There just aren't enough hours in the day.

Tomb Raider Underworld is missing from your Wii list, not that there's many here who will be getting it for that particular platform.

Of course, the only game I saw on that entire list was this:

November 11, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World

crazyD
10-27-2008, 12:06 PM
I'm really not seeing all that much. Left 4 Dead is a sure thing, and I might get Mirror's Edge. The big games for me have been hitting the last few weeks, and slow down after Tuesday.

10-27-2008, 12:34 PM
Honestly I think this year I would have to say that October was the 'heavy hitter' month. On the November list I don't really see anything I have to have right away, unlike Fable 2 and Fallout 3 and such.

No games for me at all in November. :( I'm broke. That and I have a ton of other games to beat before I consider buying anything else for myself. My son will be getting a few games for his birthday and Christmas, but other than that, no new games until I beat a lot of older titles.

lol @ Wii and DS. Seriously though, that entire list is basically shovelware for both Nintendo systems (sans MadWorld and some RPGs). I will be picking up Gears 2 and Call of Duty for now. I will possibly be picking up the AC/DC thing and I plan on getting many others next spring when the price goes down a little. Great year for gaming.

My thoughts exactly. I'm just collecting games at this point. I open em up, play them for a few minutes but then it's back to the pile while I wait for December to come, when i will have time to play. I think I am going to buy more games in these two months than I have in the last two years. My list:

Buy
Tomb Raider: Underworld
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
Gears of War 2
Chrono Trigger DS

Rent
Mirror's Edge
Left 4 Dead
Populous DS

And there is more i'll just rent later on but enough to keep me busy for a bit...

I might eventually. I love the game, don't have a 360 anymore, and have all the other GTAs on Steam. But it wouldn't be at release -- I have Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3 to satisfy my open world cravings for now.

You know what's fascinating about shit, though? Some people actually buy it. Literally. People actually buy shit.

Is the Naruto: Broken Bond the sequel to last year's awesome Ubisoft Naruto game? I'm just getting into the manga and must slake my Naruto thirst, though I will probably wait until it drops to $9 like the copy of the first game that I just bought.

Anyway, I'm only planning on buying Valkyria Chronicles and Chrono Trigger DS in November with Persona 4 being on deck for December. I am going to rent Mirror's Edge to at least get it out of my system and see how it is. I'll wait on Gears 2 for now.

Wait, is MadWorld out this fall? I didn't think it was out till next year...

I'm tempted by The Last Remnant but given the pile of JRPGs I still have to play from ages past and the fact that I have both Infinite Undiscovery AND Tales Of Vesperia to work on, I'll hold off on TLR for a while. Tales Of The World 2 looks cool but I'll hold off until I've played the original to death.

It is that game sir... I really liked Naruto: Rise of the Ninja (or whatever it was called). The game was an awesome platformer/rpg/fighter/action title. I just hope that the animations are improved (not to say that the original's animations were bad, I'm just a graphics whore).

I almost wish they'd just do the cutscenes from the anime in the game engine as it looked a lot better than the old non-HD animated bits. Of course, that would involve a LOT of work, but I can dream.

The game was my first real introduction to the world of Naruto and now that I am 7 volumes into the manga, I'm really interested in the original game again. I'm further in the manga than I was in the game when I stopped playing it last year but I've recently picked it up for a song and can't wait to start working on it again. I figure that by the time I finish the original game and the stack of other 360/PS3/PC/Whatever games from this fall (and earlier), I should be able to find Broken Bond for $9 :)

The original's price dropped rather fast, if I recall correctly.

You're right... the price did drop happen dramatically. It went to 39.99 in like 3 months. I'm pretty sure I got it for 29.99 or something (very much worth it at that price). Having seen some of the footage of the new one, I might be buying this game day one, since I know what I'm getting.

As for that animations, I agree; the game animations looked miles above the SD Anime scenes. But I'd like to see them sharpen the ingame animations.

Please don't let it be out until 2009. I just can't afford it now!

Don't worry, rini, because I love that comic.

I even ordered a print of it today!

I hate having to work, not being "rich" and not being able to stop time. If I could have 100 hours in a day without the distractions of girlfriend and work, it would be great. I might be able to finish a few games.

Add a few kids into the mix and I'm right with you.

I just need to be dropped onto a desert island with my game collection and a wait staff to bring me food. I might be able to catch up to what I currently own in about, oh, a year or two.

Can I come? I'd bring the kids, I'd just need a 24 hour on call nannie.

Good to know I'm not the only one who's ordered prints from Penny Arcade. A while back, I got a couple of the Cardboard Tube Samurai strips and this (http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2005/6/8/). I never actually played Kirby: Canvas Curse, but the comic looked great.

Which is why I'm so happy that tomorrow night I'll be on vacation in Vegas baby!!! I'll be visiting my brother for 2 weeks! No work, no dogs, no roommate, no responsibilities. All I'm taking is a toothbrush and my games.

Any Cog gamers out that way? Irene I'll be in your timezone, no excuse for use not to coop now :P

God, the news from that day was epic (http://penny-arcade.com/2005/6/8/). That was a sweet comic too...

...Well, I'm off to order another print. :)

You've never played Canvas Curse? So long as you have a DS that's something that needs to be corrected. That game is just plain great.

I just torpedoed my gaming budget until spring by deciding that not owning an Evo anymore was something I would never stop torturing myself over until I atoned for the sin of buying the Eclipse.

So.... now there's a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR outside.... and the realization that I cannot afford ANYTHING for a while inside!
