View Full Version : 3 Dead in Tea Party Protest
A Tea Party protest Wednesday in Athens, GA erupted in violence. Protesters hurled Molotov cocktails at a government office building in downtown. Three government workers were killed in the blaze.
Protesters also clashed with police.

"These people are losing their rights, they are losing their future," said former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, who has often spoken at Tea Party rallies. "The country cannot surrender without a fight."
This is a breaking story, so perhaps what I've written here isn't entirely true. But I imagine people have some thoughts.

It's a bait-and-switch ploy. He's hoping people will go for the knee-jerk "Tea Party sucks" response without reading the article, so he can then link to it and "prove" how prejudiced they are or whatever the fuck.
It's stupid, and I think I'll report it as misleading.

I don't see how this is clever or funny.

Wouldn't have expected such a petty post from Ox.
I would make a comment that US politics ARE turning into a powderkeg but frankly I expect this thread will probably be locked.
Besides, it wouldnt prove people are anti- teaparty, it would prove people dont RTFA, a complete 'no shit' point.

I didn't assume it would only be left-wingers who didn't RTFA.
But backing it up a little, the conversation is worth having. To what extent are people who are opposed to the financial industry responsible for this violence? Is it the same as the responsibility people like Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin have for any possible future Tea Party violence? Why or why not?

Always the lawyer. Drop a blatant lie, then try and sweep it under the rug with empty rhetoric.
Stay classy, Ox.

"Stay classy". The most annoying geekism to have ever stayed alive three months longer than it should have. Ugh.
"Empty rhetoric"... so you think those are stupid questions? May I ask why, or is it too unclassy/lawyerly?

...are turning into a powderkeg?! Where've you been? Powderkegs in US Politics have been the MO since 1776.

The entire post is false. False location, false subject line, false quote, false intent, false thread.
I'm pretty sure when you want to make a point, facts help.

NOTE - I was not responsible for closing this thread. My post was made in the same manner that Ox started. It seemed appropriate and is not necessarily a comment on any one individual.
