Longtime voice of the Detroit Tigers Ernie Harwell has died.

I had the chance to listen to his speak at the local library growing up and remember listening to him broadcast ballgames on the radio growing up.
Today is a sad day indeed.

Sad to see him go, but he was ready. The man is a legend around here.

Even though I hated the Tigers (as a Jays fan), I always liked him. RIP.

HBO's Real Sports & Frank Deford did an absolutely fantastic piece on Ernie Harwell's career and retirement not long ago, that re-aired recently. Hopefully they'll re-air it in his memory as it really pays tribute to what a class act Ernie was. He will be missed.

I'm not a big sports guy but everything I ever heard about this guy was positive. I guess the good part of this is that he was 92 and found out he was terminally ill last fall so he had time to get everything in order, as much as anyone can I suppose.
