Anyone ever watch this series around these parts? I'm almost done with all of season one and I've got to say that I am pretty impressed. Great acting.

Set in Baltimore, this show centers around the city's inner-city drug scene. It starts as mid-level drug dealer, D'Angelo Barksdale beats a murder rap. After a conversation with a judge, Det. James McNulty has been assigned to lead a joint homicide and narcotics team, in order to bring down drug kingpin Avon Barksdale. Avon Barksdale, accompanied by his right-hand man Stringer Bell, enforcer Wee-Bey and many lieutenants (including his own nephew, D'Angelo Barksdale), has to deal with law enforcement, informants in his own camp, and competition with a local rival, Omar, who's been robbing Barksdale's dealers and reselling the drugs. The supervisor of the investigation, Lt. Cedric Daniels, has to deal with his own problems, such as a corrupt bureaucracy, some of his detectives beating suspects, hard-headed but determined Det. McNulty, and a blackmailing deputy. The show depicts the lives of every part of the drug "food chain", from junkies to dealers, and from cops to politicians.

Discuss.

It's quite possibly the best show that's been on TV in quite a while.

Seasons 1 and 2 are by far the best IMHO. The last few seasons are also real good but never reach the high points of the first 2 seasons. All of the seasons are must watch tv though so your in for a treat still.

Next on my list after re-watching The Shield with my wife (up to season 5) and then finishing off with the currently-airing final season. I've only heard extraordinary praise for The Wire, and I have a feeling it lives up to the hype.

i must of missed soemthing but i hated season 2.... it dragged and dragged. Season 3 was actualyl very good in my veiw with the idea of moving the corners all to one area.

Alan Moore is a huge fan; I'm considering trying the first season and seeing how I like it.

Me too, but it ended on such an unbelievably perfect note that I'm OK with just re-watching it every couple of years or so. :)
