The Your Most Beautiful Selfmade Screenshots (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=1632) Thread gave me an idea for a game we could play here. A lot of the times people post their screenshots and people ask, "what game is that?". How about we make it into a game.

A person posts a screenshot, and the first person to name the game gets a point. The winner, posts the next screenshot, and so on and so on... I'll keep score on the first page.

-----------===Rules===-----------

1. Please only guess if you think you actually know the game.
2. Guess inside the thread
3. Comments are encouraged.
4. When posting a SS, try to remember to change the name of the file so people can't cheat.
5. You can only edit your post in the time it takes for the "edit reason" to not appear at the bottom. (30 seconds)
6. Someone else may post a SS if there has not been a post 12 hours after someone has won.
7. Must post full title of the game. Max Payne is not acceptable for Max Payne 2.
8. If no one has guessed the title of the game in 12 hours, an additional screenshot can be posted as a hint.
9. Have Fun!!

So was I, actually. Its obvious they used the same engine as Duke3D as that's what registered first for me. Now that I think about it, I don't think I ever beat blood. That's going to have to change....

I know the game you listed...it was an online game from around the time of Ultima Online...the name escapes me though :(

Its a she, and yes the weapon is based on that, but its not set in the Phantasm universe. Its set in the near future actually. Its a sequel.

I loved Magic Carpet back in the day! I have many fond memories of both 1 and 2. I never did play Afterlife, but I always meant to pick it up.

Unfortunately I don't know the most recent shot, although it looks familiar.

This thread makes me feel like my gamer cred is in question. I've been a huge PC gamer for years, and I haven't recognized half the games in here.

To be fair, people are trying to find the most obscure game screens possible, so I wouldn't feel too bad. I hardly recognize half of these as well.

There were literally hundreds of those war games released in the 90s. There's no way I'll get that one!

Regarding Witchaven...I bought that game for $5 back in 2000 or so. I had forgotten all about it until today, but it stands as one of the worst games I have ever played. If I recall correctly it was basically broken.

I also just rememered another game that I should dig up a screenshot for, if I ever guess one of these correctly.

That's a really hard one... I hate Civil War games and in the golden age they were LOTS of them.

I loved this one. It was much more flexible than many of the turn-based wargames of the period.

I never got into those games, except for Panzer General, so I'm uneducated in the world of wargame tactical turn based strategy games.

It shared the first part of it's title with an RTS series developed by Ensemble Studios.

I wonder if it would run on XP with a multicore processor? I saw my discs just a couple of days ago (Which is why I posted it here). It may be dated, but it had some solid gameplay! (even though Molyneux did over-hype the god powers and dropped a lot of features prior to it's release. ;) )

Dang, I think I wrote this game...well, I wrote one that looked very much like it many years ago in QBasic :p

As for Populous 2...I'm thinking I may just go with the new DS version. I did stumble across my Populous: New Beginning (pop 3) a couple of days ago.

You may want to look into this thread over on Immortal Machines (http://www.immortalmachines.com/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=28&func=view&id=1388&catid=26#1388). I've been hankering for old school gaming, so that's the route I'm going to follow.

Well done! It is indeed! It's a shame not many of you have played this gem. It was an amazingly expansive game for the time. The exploration and discovery really set a lot of what I look for in games even today. I first played it when I was probably 6ish.

In Search of the Most Amazing Thing was released for Atari, C64, and DOS. I still remember the box, a soft plastic case of sorts. I think I still have the book that came with the game which essentially told the story of the game as written by a sci-fi author of the time.
