For anyone looking to play a damn good single player FPS that gushes atmosphere and personality- This is your game.

But you say, how original can it be? Isn't it just like Stalker? No. It is not at all an open world game, and the only time you spend on the surface of a post-nuking Moscow is short lived due to the environment being extremely hostile. It's very linear but it is not without purpose. They did a good job in making the game story-driven- yet not overload you with alot of unnecessary information.

I guess the only real point I want to make is that YES- it's a decently short game - but the experience is unique and enjoyable there is absolutely no filler to it, very well paced. That said, to me, the mark of a excellent game is one that leaves me wanting to keep playing it even after beating it, and I hope dearly that they produce another game set in this universe, as I haven't been pulled into a game while playing it for quite some time.

So yeah, Short but I enjoyed pretty much every moment of the game. I say- if your interests are peaked by this game- just go for it, I severely doubt you'll be let down.

How short is it btw? I'm interested in this game but I'm trying to decide what the right price point is for purchase.

I've been having a great time with it so far. About 2 hours in. I definitely recommend it so far.

About 10h, depending how much exploring you do.And depending on your style. I went the stealthy route, which meant that it look me longer to play through the storyline.

I agree with the OP, this game is a ton of fun, and a good story.

I think I will give this another go then. The bugs and the story both turned me off after 2 hours. But maybe it gets much better deeper into the game.

I'm trying to play through this but right now my biggest beef is the sound. I'm a couple hours in I think and I'm on a level where I have to wear the gas mask and the breathing sound is obnoxious. I get it, I'm in a gas mask but I don't need to constantly listen to what sounds like Darth Vader having phone sex. All the while there's some fairly high pitched screeching sound in the back like a really rusty swing set or something.

That's pretty much what it sounds like when you wear a gasmask. Personally I've found wearing an actual gasmask to be kind of relaxing, I really don't mind it.

The best parts are the during the middle and right before the end...so you are seriously wasting the game if you only play the beginning of it.

Thx :) I think this one will drop in price fairly quickly because it doesn't seem like it has the longevity and replayability.

I'm sold either way!

Sadly I think a game should actually be good...you know...in the starting. I mean I can waste 45 minutes to an hour but when a game only gets good 3 hours in its the developers fault for designing particular aspects incorrectly, especially a shooter.
But as I said I may give it another go.

Plus, he didn't say it was bad. He just noted that the best is at those particular points. And, every game has its best spots :)

Oh definitely. There's one section where you can barrel through (like I did) relatively quickly, or you can stealth your way through which takes a lot longer.

You get an achievement for the second.

Huh?
No I said it was. I played it for 2-3 hours and then stopped because it was bad.
But I think we can agree that the first hours of a game should be some "best spots" don't you agree?

Oh I know. But that's you, you might not find what he thinks the best spots are to be very good at all. I was just saying that you shouldn't combine the two opinions.

But on your point... hmm. Typically I want a strong start, so you're right. The beginning is when the whole thing is new, fresh and exciting. It doesn't mean the rest is necessarily bad, but based on experience, a weak start is not a good indicator. It should be one of the more exciting points of the game.

I just started the game this weekend and I am thoroughly enjoying it, especially since it has throwing knives and it's been a long time since Goldeneye. I find myself wanting to use them at every moment, and thus taking my time through sections, shutting off lamps and working in close to make my kills, and so I can pick the knives back up to plunge into another skull.

I'd say maybe 3 hours in, and didn't find the start that bad at all... I will say that the human killing sections are much more fun to me than the mutants, since they actually use cover and move, whereas the mutants I've encountered just charge at your shotgun awaiting a slug to the cranium.

Ya and I think I am in the minority here. Other forums don't seem to have piled on anywhere near the love this has received here. But on the other hand there is a reason I read COG and post here more. So I will give it another go.

I am a bit biased by the plethora of Russian games I've played in the last 6 months, among which it stands out as a gem.

Ah, another one that I think I saw on Steam's list was Cryostasis. Have you played that?
