Kind of a boring episode, really. I mean, I guess it had to be done, but there wasn't really a whole lot going on. I do look forward to next week though, I want to see what happens between Jack and Locke.

Sun's reaction to seeing Locke on her way into the hospital was interesting. I can't remember is she saw him on the plane but I don't know what would have caused her to react that way.

A near death experience.
I agree with HM, a pretty boring transitional episode.
I know I had complained about Sawyer letting Kate go at the airport, and FrogGodHero thought Sayid wasn't skeptical enough about Locke's promise to reunite him with Naudia. This episode addressed both of those things, and I'm satisfied with the writer's explanations.

Can anyone clue me in as to what happened in the last like, four minutes? My DVR didn't catch the end. :(

Let's see. Jack jumped off the boat. Swam back. Met Locke and crew. Rest of the boat made it to Hydra Island. Met with guns and bad attitudes. Sun and Jin reunited. They start firing cannons at Locke. Locke saves Jack.
What'd I miss?

Don't worry Freckles, me and Widmore are cool.

Hold it right there!

Jin, I've been looking for you for three years, now we're together again, plus I remembered how to speak English!

I am still painfully underutilized on this show.

Yeah, so I just got off the horn with Widmore, he says the deal's off. So everyone down on your knees. We're going to shoot all of you (yeah right) and drop a hellfire missile on Locke.

Do you guys hear something?

explode.

Hey Jack, I know you're shell shocked from that explosion and everything, but I carried you away to safety. "You're with me now."

So, that's two things Food Nipple is awesome at. Care to go for the trifecta, Mr. Nipple?
Anyway, regarding the episode, I'm a little disappointed with how they dealt with Claire's and Sayid's roles as outcasts. They've both been given a shot as redemption, it appears...which makes me wonder why so many weren't. One or the other of the two should have died a painful, humiliating death while we hated them.
I'm glad to see Sawyer's half-assed plan was exposed as such. Disappointed to see that geophysicist friend of Widmore's is still alive.
Most eager to see what kind of scheme Richard, Ben and Miles are cooking up.

Then again, to be honest, I've kinda had a soft spot for her ever since she was introduce in what apparently was the most-gratuitous-scene-without-a-bra ever shot on Lost.

I think I care more about the alt. timeline, because I really liked this episode.

Yeah, except you'll be waiting two weeks as next week is the "hiatus" break with a repeat of "Ab Aeterno". They showed no preview at the end of this week's episode other than the 2-hour Series Finale happening on SUNDAY, May 23rd. 4 episodes (including 2-hour finale) left.

I think I care more about the alt. timeline, because I really liked this episode.I won't say that I care "more," but I certain stand behind the statement that another full season of the alt timeline would be awesome. It's really interesting to see existing characters that you (mostly) know in entirely new situations. It's like Marvel Comics' old series "What If...?" It was my favorite.

It could've easily been a loosely tied collection of inconsequential stories. But after establishing all the characters, they actually have an arc for the timeline.

I totally missed that shot, actually.
Regardless, I think we can assume that virtually all the survivors of Smokey's attack at the Temple (the Templars who switched sides, that is) are dead. They were on the beach when Widmore went George W. on them. The flight attendant lady and the two kids might still be alive.
I'd be shocked if Smokey doesn't find some way to bring equanimity to the numbers in the very next episode and kill the majority of Widmore's team. As it is, with Widmore in control of most of the Candidates, it seems like Smocke is some sort of underdog for the first time.
One other thing about episode, I was a little disappointed to see both Sun and her baby survive the bullet. In the original timeline, Russian dude took Charlie with him as he died. In this timeline, I was hoping for/expecting some sort of symmetry. It's all a little too cheery.

The hiatus might be true, but they definitely showed a preview for the next episode.
I remember Smokey walking around, casually beating the shit out of people.

The preview they showed didn't explicitly mention "next time on Lost", it just mentioned the finale.

Kind of a boring, transition episode. Lapidus provided yet another LOST laugh out loud moment (along with Locke getting hit by a car and the submarine periscope coming up from the water) when he said, "Looks like someone found her voice!" He is rapidly becoming one of my favorite characters.
Sawyer's plan really bugs the crap out of me, just because it seems so terrible, but I guess he doesn't have many other options. It was pretty awesome to see all the characters back together again, and really weird to see Claire acting normalish. Seeing Sayid as some sort of mindless killer is really disappointing to me, as I always liked him. He seems so bland now. :(
I didn't know there was a break next week, thanks for the heads up!
EDIT: Also, can someone explain the significance of Sun losing her voice? It seemed pretty pointless.

Sawyer's plan is obviously shit but I think, like Jack said, that's obvious wishful thinking. And I'm still banking on Claire being crazy enough to betray them.my question to you all good sirs, is why didnt locke kill desmond in the first place instead of sending the new murder machine? They'll create some silly reason as to why he couldn't kill him, I'm sure.

The show has truly boiled down now to is this fate, or is this random chance? At this point, I don't expect them to answer everything, which is okay, but I'm still waiting for some big reveals at the end.
And someone has to explain how Jack survived the missile attack.

Explain how? He and another guy were running away when the missile exploded behind them, and "that guy" picked him up and carted him to safety?

I believe we were already shown that Jack can't be killed. Or, was that just a coincidence?
Also, shouldn't they be deck gun shots instead of missile volleys?
