My lord. I thought Spartacus sucked in the beginning and then it just continued to get better and better.
This last episode...I will be damned if I didn't say "wow" out loud twenty times.
I love shows that take some real risks. The casting, the killing, the characters...it has paid off for me at least.

It's also nice to see a show that isn't trying to be a certain way but just is. I have now grown accustomed to their idea of "special effects" and even that has grown on me. Bravo to a show that had a bit of surprise, a bit of ballz, and a storyline about redemption and what it does to people.

I have almost the exact same reaction. My friends and I watched as a joke for a while, and then one episode, we realized we had started to like it. They certainly know how to end a season.

Funny, I just had this conversation with my roommate. After a finale like that it's a shame the second season is on an indefinite hold.

Also, who else grew to root for Asher? By the last episode I loved that little bastard and was happy to see he didn't get killed.

I did the same thing. I thought the first episode was terrible, and kept watching mostly to see Lucy Lawless naked again. After a while, I realized the show was actually getting good, and I enjoyed it on its own merits.

I was a hater of the show but after the 4th episode I was hooked. I loved the end and was blown away with what they did. Is the second season coming or no?

Yeah... that was my reason to keep going at first, but the show ended up growing on my friends and I, and after a few episodes it became part of our sunday night "Movie Night" routine. It's a shame to see it on hold, but it's for a good reason. Hopefully the main actor's cancer treatments go well and he's up and around for a second season.

I just had this conversation with a friend of mine last night, I thought the first episode was so bad that I couldn't even finish it but he swore up and down that it was a great show and really picked up after the third episode. I'll be giving it another shot this week and I'll force my self through the first couple episodes.

just getting my hands on the last episode but ya those of you that read the first thread on this know just how much I was hating on the first few episodes... and quit rightly I still thing... they where some of the worst bits of TV ever but I gave it the benfit of the doubt since some of it was fun to look at and such but ya from the 4th episode it manages to get it's act together and start telling a fun story. It's still a show of style over substance but it's turned in to something that wasn't just style and no substance which has let me enjoy it a lot more.

I enjoyed the show even from the beginning for what it was. I'm not sure where they go from here (assuming Andy Whitfield recovers). Not many characters left.

just watched, was a damn good ending. I think they failed a bit in explaing exactly why mr S and his friends decided not just to run away but start a war on rome but other than that it was coolies and I hope there's a second sesson which is not something at all i would have imagined saying when the show started

I'm pretty certain Spartacus wants to kill the Legatus and Crixus wants to get his woman back. Doctore is in because he's a bad ass and thats what bad asses do. I guess everyone else just got caught up in the moment.

Oh I get that but there's never really any talk about following those goals by becoming an "army" if you get me. I'm not saying it didn't make sense as such just that there's a missing beat in the episode that explains that as the next step, it makes sense but it seems they relied on you knowing that's what going to happen rather than try explaining it. I'm sure they'll cover that more if they come back but it was really just the main thing that felt off for me, and given that it's not much it just shows how fun the silly thing can be.

I see what your saying. They must have got distracted with all the violence.

Andy Whitfield has cancer. The main writer says that season 2 is a go and they are just waiting for the very treatable cancer to be taken care of so the hold is until he is in remission. Expected time is 6-8 months.

This would fit into line with them originally stating they funded 3 seasons with no worry about ratings for the first 2 seasons. So the money is there. Just hope for the dudes health.

Cancer sucks man. I know what he will have to go through and it sucks to even think about.

Tell me about it:(

It's horrible when you sit down and think about it. I prefer not too. I am wishing him a mental good luck.

I didn't realize the poor guy had cancer until I read this thread earlier. Here's to his speedy recovery.

The whole season is on Netflix Watch Instantly. In fact, they released episodes on there as they aired.
