It's Official: Gears of War 3 Coming April 2011

Yes Virginia, there will be a Gears of War 3. Because you know it was in doubt.

Epic Games is calling the third installment in the uber-popular shooter franchise the "final chapter" in the story of Marcus Fenix and his Delta Squad compatriots. The last human city has been destroyed, and the remnants of humanity have to deal with both the Locust Horde and the creatures forcing them to the surface, the Lambent.

Gears of War 3 will be released exclusively for the Xbox 360 on April 5, 2011 in North America with releases in Japan on April 7 and Europe on April 8.

While I'm "meh" on this game overall... I'll rent it and not buy it. I have to say that I respect developers who don't go past a trilogy. Seriously, if you can't tell your entire story in three main games and get all your ideas out then move on already.

I guess I'll have to find a co-op way to get into GoW 2 sometime before next April. I finished GoW 1 just about the time 2 came out, so I'm right on track here.

Ooooh, this is good. Assuming this means the couch co-op will make it through, I'll be a happy camper. We've played through 2, but this will give my son and I a chance to get 1 done in plenty of time.

Assuming we can drag ourselves away from achievement hunting in L4D2...
