Apparently some students decided to add "Hit a Jew Day" to their spirit week celebration. Obviously, it didn't go over so well with the uh...well, the Jews. Anybody else have experiences like this in their schools? The worst we ever had was during spirit week we had an "-er" day where you were supposed to dress up as something that ended with -er, such as a plumber or cheerleader. My name is Trever so I had a nice following that day myself. :P Anyway, the worst part about this day is that someone came as Hitler. I don't think I saw him again for the rest of that week.

I can see why kids would watch South Park, even though 90% of the satirical points of the jokes would simply be over their heads. But what kid watches the Daily Show? Either they're pretty smart for their age, or don't worry about the fact that almost all of it would make no sense to them at all.

My uncle was a teacher for most of his life. His jeep ran over a German mine when he was fighting in France in WW2. Almost died, almost lost his leg.

He would have dragged that kid through 8 miles of broken glass before dropping him off at the Principal's office.

Perhaps, but perhaps not. I'd heard about WWII and the Holocaust well before 6th grade, but i was a nerdy kid. We didn't have lessons in-class about it until probably 7th or 8th grade. Of course this was a long time ago.

Regardless, I think this means their school in particular needs to spend some time on that subject ASAP.

As for the whole "Jew" thing among kids, it is sad. The big thing nowadays though is "gay". My sister uses it all the time. "That's gay", "he's gay" etc. It's fucking annoying and stupid, but then again kids are annoying and stupid. It's unfortunate, but I don't see it ending any time soon.
