What 5 games would you most like to see get a sequel or remake? Keep it to 5 or less, or it just becomes a list of games you liked!
Mine...
1- Mechwarrior ( Not that heretical bullshit Mech Assault, a proper sim! )
2- Shadowrun ( Genesis version, not the SNES or lamer PC shooter ).
3- Tie Fighter
4- Baldurs Gate (3)
5- Ultima X ( in the vein of Ultima VII! )

1 - Kid Icarus (yea I went there)
2 - Planescape Torment (2)
3 - Thief 1&2 remade for modern hardware
4 - System Shock 1&2 remade for modern hardware
5 - Final Fantasy VII remade for PS3

1. Crystalis (surprisingly deep and good music for an NES game)
2. Eternal Darkness
3. Planescape: Torment
4. Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! (I know this series has had three games essentially, but it wasn't enough for me)
5. Final Fantasy VII (I know so many people want this, but it's the Final Fantasy that has aged the most poorly graphically)

1 - Kid Icarus (yea I went there)
Meh, never really got the mystique of Kid Icarus to be honest.
2 - Planescape Torment (2)
Fuck yeah! But given that Planescape itself is dead as the dodo, its sadly never going to happen.
3 - Thief 1&2 remade for modern hardware
Thief kinda spawned an entire genre in a way... Splinter Cell, Assassins Creed and Hitman all owe a heavy debt to Thief, but at the same time, kept the legacy alive.
4 - System Shock 1&2 remade for modern hardware
Isn't that called BioShock? :D
... not gonna touch FFVII, other than to say, not a fan...

I'm not looking for sequels for Thief or System Shock I'm looking for remakes exactly like they are but with a modern engine so they can actually be played.

Baldur's Gate 2 is my all-time favourite game, but it does not need a sequel. That story is done. Ithar just wants to be left the fuck alone with his wife, kid and BFF Minsc. Let's move away from the goddamn Sword Coast and explore the rest of the fucking huge setting that is the Forgotten Realms.
I believe at least one of the NWN2 expansions actually did this, but I still don't understand why people want a BG sequel.

1. Crystalis.
2. Both of the original Metal Gear titles.
3. Shining Force (roots, dammit!)
4. Fallout (not as a FPS)
5. Ultima 6. Loved the hell out of that game.
I wish Sonic's Ultimate Collection came with all of the Genesis' US games, because now I want to play Flashback. :(

Dark Sun: Shattered Lands, as long as it's still turn based. It was a direct precursor to Baldur's Gate and magnificently done.
Tie Fighter - Or hell, any new Star Wars flight sim would be nice.
Outcast - I miss voxels.
Shogun: Total War - I'd love to see a new Total War game that does all of Asia in this timeframe.
Morrowind - It's too bad the Elder Scrolls series ended so prematurely.

Undying - Clive Barker needs to write more game scripts
Shadowrun - SNES or the Genesis ver, I don't care

Independance War - There needs to be a 3
Wizardry - Why is there not a 9?

Xwing / Tie Fighter seems like a good choice. The controls for those games were never complex and they were a ton of fun. They'd work great on a console controller.
Ultima
Streets of Rage (on XBLA/PSN)
Phantasy Star - forgot this one. Always enjoyed the setting.

Serapth, you've been on a roll with great gaming-related posts.
Quakshot - fucking awesome adventure game would work great today!
X-Wing
Deathrow
Sonic Adventure (3 could possibly be the next 3D Sonic game...it's still unknown)
Act of War - RTS with awesome ideas never used again by any other RTS developer. These guys are now doing RUSE.
As for MDK2, I still consider the first be far superior. Two just became a generic action game.
EDIT: I gotta add something about Act of War: You can purchase an upgrade that trains your infantry in non-lethal combat. By doing this, all enemy infantry will lay wounded when shot and not killed. You can then send in infantry to cuff them and earn money by holding them. You can release them and get map points revealed in turn. Also, all infantry had a prone function. This way they were stealth, and had more accurate fire. Though, they are slower and easy to run over.
Man, I want to reinstall the game...even air combat has yet to be replicated!

3. Flashback
Great choice, but I'm not sure it would work today. Today people complain about linearity and difficulty and lack of deep combat.
Same goes with Streets of Rage.
4 - Duck Tales
Interesting choice. Did you ever play Rescue Rangers?
My list would probably be something like this:
1. Gun.Smoke
2. Jet Force Gemini
3. Blast Corps.
4. Beyond Good and Evil
5. Metal Arms: Glitch in the System
ClannerDelta

2. Jet Force Gemini
Hell yes. I call dibs on the shoulderbot.
1. Mechwarrior series: graphics and control overhauls.
2. Gundam 0079 sidestory. Sequel/remake.
3. Republic Commando. Sequel.
4. Alpha Centauri. I'd settle for a redo of all those horrible sound effects.
5. Fallout 1&2 updated graphics. Too ugly. (flame bait, sorry, just can't stand it)

1- Demon's Crest (My favorite side-scroller of all time)
2- Jet Set Radio Future (I'd even take a sequel)
3- Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee (This is the only Oddworld I never beat...that, and the shitty one on Gameboy.)
4- Psychonauts (this was missed by too many, and needs a second chance.)
5- OffWorld Extreme (really, who wouldn't love customizable trucks in outer space with rockets and shit on a rally course? I <3 that game.)
Bad Wolf
04-02-2010, 12:10 AM
1. Masters Of Orion (just make MOO 2 with modern tech, 3 raped and killed the series)
2. Planescape: Torment (remake not sequel)
3. Legacy Of Kain (remake all the games into 1 long, epic mindblowing game, preferably by Naughty Dog, since Amy Hennig is there now)
4. KoTOR 3 (please? finally?)
5. Zone Of The Enders 3 (also please?)

I'm tempted to change a couple of choices and bring in:
Skies of Arcadia
Hell yes. I call dibs on the shoulderbot.
Floyd had more character than a lot of the bloated stuff that comes out today. A good Floyd could mean victory by the thinnest margins against those bad-ass bosses.
1- Demon's Crest (My favorite side-scroller of all time)
2- Jet Set Radio Future (I'd even take a sequel)
Two good ones here. The JSR franchise has been way too quiet.
I caught myself grimacing when I read that. :p
Why? I thought Rescue Rangers and DuckTales were cut from the same cloth. Sure DT was better, how could you not enjoy RR?

1) Rampage (OR) War of the Monsters.
Personally, I fucking love playing as a giant monster, or mech, and trashing a city. This concept needs an update, and either of these franchises would be a good candidate.
2) Dungeon Keeper
Self-explanatory: Building and managing a dungeon is fun. Setting up traps and ambushes for heroes is fun. This game sorely needs an update. Of course, we do have Dwarf Fortress, and that's very much in the same spirit.
3) Chrono Trigger
One of my favorite games of all time, and the only sequel it got was without any doubt one of the ugliest, stupidest, most ill-conceived follow-ups that I've ever played. This game needs it's original Dream Team back together, focusing on a game that's at least similar in spirit to the original.
4) Friday the 13th
I've spoke about this before, but I'll say it again: I liked the concept of the NES game. I would like to see something similar done on modern consoles, with more polish. My own concept for a good F13 game would be a sandbox game, made in the style of Dead Rising. You spend two or three days at Camp Crystal Lake with some NPC friends or fellow counselors, and also some NPC locals. You can interact with them in fairly deep ways, even form relationships with them. Jason can strike at any time, and the further into the weekend you get, the more frequent and bold his strikes will become, until in the final hours of the last night there he just goes ape shit and tries to kill everyone. Your mission would be to escape Camp Crystal Lake either by leaving camp on the last day, or finding a way to subdue Jason. Think Heavy rain but with a slasher theme, and more freedom.
This concept doesn't really need the F13 license, any generic killer would do, I just think it's a fun idea to bring the slasher genre into gaming.
5) Ultima Online
I'm not sure if this one counts, as there have been many attempts to make new games with the same sandbox spirit of UO... but they've all been made by developers without the talent or resources to actually realize the vision. This thing needs more than a shoestring budget.

I'd actually like to see a solid sequel of Conker - Rare got the shaft when Microsoft bought them, and now their games, great as they may be, bomb quickly.
A solid sequel of a relatively Rated R game would do Rare well, I think.

I went into it knowing that the plot connections were loose, and I still hated it. The graphics especially... made me want to rip my eyes out. But I'm not going to argue about it too hard in this thread.
final fantasy tactics ( i hated all the sequels for some reason )
Probably because they sucked, and got rid of everything that made the first one good including the plot, atmosphere and it's version of the job system. We're pretty much not going to get a proper sequel to FFT, since I'm pretty sure that most of the core staff doesn't work with SE anymore.

Rare got the shaft because they are still working with a 1996 philosophy. The gaming market is competitive and the speed at which they work is atrocious by today's standards. I would love see a sequel too, but I know it'll be released in 2017 if Rare start now, and it'll still be on the 360.

I agree, for both games. There have been many rumblings and reports of the Persona team working on a new game, possibly more than one. I figure we'll get a (Japanese) confirmation before too long. The wait is frustrating, but it'll happen.
And I thought I remember hearing that while they're talking about an Elder Scrolls MMO, they're still going to make single player games in the series. Which is good. One of the main reasons I like the Elder Scrolls games is that they play kinda like an MMO, but without all the annoying other people and monthly charges.

Most of my picks have already been mentioned, but here goes:
-Crystalis (probably one of my all-time favorite NES games)
-Shadowrun (I'm partial to the Genesis version but like the SNES one as well. They're just different approaches. The SNES version is more of an adventure/rpg hybrid where the Genesis one was more action/rpg)
-Shining Force (if it's not like the originals they can DIAF. The newer SF games are worthless)
-Mutant League Sports (seriously, why isn't this a given?)
-Anachronox (Still one of the best adventure/semi-rpg games for PC to this day, IMO.)
Bonus - D&D arcade games (Two of the best beat-em-ups out there, and could be easily handled by newer systems. They could just release the originals if making new titles is too much.)

F-Zero definitely needs a new game, but bring back the face-meltingly awesome soundtrack style from F-Zero X on the N64.

Yes. RR was great fun as well, but come on, how could anyone not want to hop around in space on Scrooge McDuck's cane again?
DT had fantastic platforming - no doubt - and minimal use of that asshole Launchpad McQuack. Another huge plus. I'm trying to think any other similar game and am blanking. Another great Disney game, though, is Aladdin for Genesis/SNES.
I'm really hoping that those teasers we got were real, and this sequel eventually comes to pass. It was an awesome game.
BG&E is obviously a lot more likely than some of the other titles in this thread because at least we have a teaser, but that only makes the anticipation more difficult.
I'd love to see a re-imagining of this on XBLA or PSN. Another candidate for using the modified Unreal Engine Chair used on Shadow Complex. Damn, I wish more people would make games with that engine.
Got to agree with you again. Shadow Complex is my favorite use of the Unreal Engine. It makes too many models look like plastic pumped full of botox in all sorts of weird places, but what Chair did was brilliant.
Zone of the Enders
Metroid 2 (A very important sequel in the universe, and it was released only on the original game boy! You're sitting on a damn Gold Mine!)
Zelda: Oracles/Awakening Collection on DS (Gold. Mine. Bastards.)
Three great ideas. The last one never even occurred to me. And now I'm amazed Nintendo hasn't done it yet.
Probably the same reason many feel this way about Double Dash: Played with Family
Funny you should say that. Double Dash is still my favorite Mario Kart. It didn't have the best tracks, but it did some pretty good ones. The racing mechanics and physics, though, were pitch perfect - even if they computer got cheap with the Blue Shells.
Double Dash almost nearly made it on to my list, along with another Smash Bros - which is a series in jeopardy.

I remember that being a good game as well. And very similar to Cool Spot if I remember correctly. It's been a long time though.
Huh, I just looked it up on Wikipedia and apparently it was created by Dave Perry who also made the Aladdin game. Well that explains it.

1. Rocket Jockey - Awesome multiplayer concept; it just needs new models, music, and good support.
2. Planetside - With retooling, it would be unstoppable.
3. Bushido Blade - Sorely needed.
4. Deja Vu - Open world first-person adventure that has "some" action, but not a heavy focus.
5. The Fight for Justice (Quake) - Originally imagined as an RPG featuring Quake, a character in the D&D universe created by Carmack for the early id software crew to enjoy, I'd like to see that D&D world come to life. I'm asking for the impossible here. I want Romero, McGee, and hell even Hall invited back in. I want to see Bethesda, current owners of id, put the full heft of their experience creating RPGs behind it. I want to see my mind blown.

Now THERE was an awesome game!
I want to make that my 2nd bonus pick. I'd forgotten it entirely (shame on me) and it was a blast. I honestly enjoyed the two-player deathmatch mode more than the actual game. It was always hilarious when you would have to try to fight the other player's mech on foot. You couldn't win, but it was the principal of it.

I still own a copy of Metal Warriors, but I wouldn't ask for a sequel if it was like the original...tons of fun and potential, mostly wasted after the first few levels. I also have a copy of that other game that same dev made...was basically the same game with only one robot, though.
Edit: Cyber Warrior I think
Super Edit: it's Cybernator, and you can get it on the Wii's VC

I played both Metal Warriors and Cybernator. Didn't think they were related but wikipedia spat back something interesting.
Metal Warriors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Warriors#Gameplay)
The gameplay mechanics and level design are very similar to Assault Suits Valken/Cybernator, but this game is not a sequel to Cybernator as many users tend to believe. Cybernator and Metal Warriors are completely different games made by different companies. The confusion comes from the fact of Konami being the publisher of both games for the US.

I'm going to throw in Turok 2, because the technology finally allows for the game to show some scale. I think I'm up to 10 games I'd love to see already. Also, Sucker Punch need to do another game in the Rocket: Robot on Wheels series.
The problem is how rare it is for a title to translate well when it's revisited. We actually got a Golden Axe and a Bionic Commando this generation. Sure as hell doesn't feel like it.
Super Mario platformers, Ninja Gaiden, Prince of Persia, Metal Gear, and Metroid are the only long-latent franchises that come to mind that can pick up where they left off.
F-Zero definitely needs a new game, but bring back the face-meltingly awesome soundtrack style from F-Zero X on the N64.
Also, pleasepleasepleaspleasePLEASE make a new Star Fox game along the lines of Assault (the last good Starfox game, IMO).
Did you ever play F-Zero GX? Some of the best graphics on the GC. The N64 game was almost too fast for its own good because the draw distance was weak. GX was sublime to play and watch. I don't remember the music being as good, though. Perhaps we should blame SEGA.
That's one soundtrack that should be given the orchestral treatment.
As for StarFox, you have to go back to StarFox 64 to get me excited.

Gyruss - Remember the NES version of this game? how much it added to the original formula? bombs, and two distinct kinds of boss fights. The world needs a new Gyruss. Who can forget that awesome toccata theme? People love both the NES and original arcade versions of this game.
Heavy Gear - This is the one game I can think of that seamlessly blended FPS / Simulator controls / gameplay into one. Not to mention being able to build and modify the Gears, getting access to better stuff as you increased in rank. Good campaign, "tour of duty" mode and great music. One of my all time favorites. The second game...had none of the first game's charm. Gear modification was all done by...just adjusting stats and adding weapons to pretty much an inventory. It was too much like an FPS...you couldn't even deal area specific damage anymore...you just had a lifebar for god sakes. Bleah. Lame.
Ranger X - A somewhat of a hidden gem on the Genesis. An pretty unique side scroll shooter set you in control of a mech capable of flight, a variety of special weapons (including a homing robotic falcon). Had awesome depth field effects, cool music, really smooth gameplay, interesting missions and bossfights and made excellent usage of the genesis's excellent 6 button controller if you had one. As far as updating, this is the type of game that could potentially be really cool as a kind of Metroid adventure style to it.
Wing Commander (the first one). One thing I would really love, is a remake of that first game with modern graphics, maybe even some updates / changes to how you interact with crew members and their willingness to fly on your wing, as well as some stuff dealing with ship payload like how most space combat sims did towards the late 90s. But actually what they need to do is go back, redo the WHOLE series, and coagulate missions, story arcs and campaigns into one massive game that follows the story of Christopher Blair. Think like bioware level character interaction back on the ships / home station, then full on beautifully rendered HD star fighter action during actual gameplay. I'd buy that for a dollar...
Aero Guage - Stylish Futuristic racer on the 64. Suffered from a lack of cars / tracks but otherwise the actual game play was of note, especially the music. It differed from other futuristic racers by not resorting to any moronic combat / racing gimmicks, just straight up flight / racing. A big part of the game was mastering the drift dash technique, once you had that down the game was really alot of fun. An update including a more appropriate number of tracks, probably a track editor and more than 8 or so cars to choose from and you'd have a damn fine game.

The opinions on the BC revival are mixed, but we can probably all agree that the bullshit Golden Axe beast rider game was Golden Axe in name only. What a piece of shit that was.

Carmageddon is Twisted Metal without guns, good AI, or decent graphics. I loved the shit out of the first two back in the day, but I bought Carmageddon 3 (TDR 2000) at launch and not only was it worse than the second one, but the damn thing crashed so often that actually completing any races was an achievement all in itself. If they do make a new one at some point, which I doubt at this point, I hope they try harder.
Karnov was awesome back in the day, but I would be flat-out shocked to ever see him return. Talk about a game most people don't recall anymore.

There are actually very few games I'd want to play again. Games have advanced so far and my tastes veer so heavily towards new experiences that the nostalgia is often best left as just that.
I would love to see Planescape redone in one of Bioware's new engines with full voice and detailed character models. Annah would be a huge hit as a lifelike character in a game today. :)
Other than that, I'll go with:
The Killing Game Show (Probably the most devious platform puzzler ever created)
Turrican 2 (My favorite platform action game of all time, and it shipped ona single 720k disk)
Adventure Construction Set (Imagine something like the Neverwinter Knights toolset, except so easy anyone could use it, and the creator could press a "finish it for me" button, wait a few hours, and have a complete RPG the size of Ultima IV)
It Came From the Desert (An action/adventure/RPG where events occur in psuedo real-time, meaning that just a decision of where to go next can have huge effects on the story. Go to the gas station before noon and the owner is nervous about rumors of giant ants. Go there after noon and the station and he are burned husks. Go at noon and you can save him from attackers. Replayability was unmatched. Cinemaware were really ahead of their time.)

Ugh, not Annah, I hated her, worst character in the game. Here and Imoen, whiny annoying, ugh!
Now Morte, Fall From Grace and even Nordom, all rocked.
I feel shame not catching NORDOM == MODRON the first time I played it. Oops.

Haven't read the thread, but here are my wishes:
1. Freespace (2) - I still think this is the most intense and immersive game I've ever played
2. Alpha Centauri - The most fun I've had with any Civ game, and the story and tech tree are better than most Sci Fi novels.
3. X-Wing and TIE Fighter - both of these are just awesome games set in an awesome universe with tons of potential. Needs to be a true flight sim though, not like the starfighter or rogue squadron series. Alliance was good, but we can do better.
4. Mechwarrior - I can always use another good first person mech simulation.
5. Deus Ex - Hopefully the upcoming one will do a good job. The original is still one of my favorite games.

Dune 2 was the "first", and the first RTS, then Dune 2000 was a remake of Dune 2. So emperor was the 2nd in the series.
I guess I failed the question on that one, it's not so much another remake as it is a new game.
1. Freespace (2) - I still think this is the most intense and immersive game I've ever played
Except for a rerelease on something like PSN/XBLA (which would be awesome), I don't really see a remake being necessary with all the awesome work the open source project has put into the game.

I agree. And as I said, just because something was good a few generations ago, doesn't mean it's going to translate well into the demands today's gamers have. Case in point, the new Bionic Commando and Golden Axe games.
A few visionary designers made the best possible game under whatever constraints they were operating under, forcing those games into the third dimension, applying stylized presentation or straining them through an HD filter should not make the gamepaly a more enriching experience.

SimTower - I think this would be a killer iPhone/Touch game, and there's a lot of different ways they could tweak the gameplay. If a PC sequel, make it so it works on portrait-oriented widescreen monitors. Take it into three dimensions (so you're not just building a flat wall of individual stores/offices/etc.). (I believe there was a sequel to Yoot Tower, and a GBA or DS version, but we haven't had anything in the States since the first game.)
SimCity - A proper sequel. Not Societies 2. Doesn't have to be just SC4 with new graphics, they can take the series in new directions, but keep the core of the game intact.
Shenmue - I'd just like a game to finish off the story they started with the first game and continued in the second.
Chrono Cross - Yes, Cross. It's not a typo.
Valkyria Chronicles - I know, it's getting a sequel on PSP (which I fully intend to play). But anyone who liked the first game would welcome a full-sized PS3 sequel.
Is that a list of games I liked? Pretty much. But the SimTower one I've actually been thinking about for a while now.

If you try to resize the scale, panache and pageantry of VC into a handheld, you lose its beauty. If I want to play VC lite, I'll play Fire Emblem. I'm still on the fence about VC2. I might boycott it on principle.

In fact, again like Gone With the Wind, I am satisfied with the open-ended note on which it left off.

Well I think it was the way Defiance left all. Wasn't it all open like Kain and the Soul Reaver were about to take it to the Elder God?
Defiance was as much closer as we're going to get. The Elder God is dead, Raziel is trapped in the Soul Reaver, Moebius' soul has been devoured and he has seen the true face of his god, and we have all forgotten the evil that is Blood Omen 2. Kain is wandering the earth much like the son of Adam. Someone give me the power, and I will outline an amazing Legacy of Kain story. Too bad the owners of the rights don't care anymore.

Okay, I'm spoilering it just in case there's someone out there who still hasn't played through (shame on you!).
Defiance ends with the story coming full circle. It is the same era as Blood Omen 1. Raziel realises that the self-proclaimed Elder God was the real puppet master behind the Hylden. He realises that he was retrieved from the Abyss to become the Hylden champion but because he has free will, he defies his fate and instead chooses to merge with the Reaver. The blade thus powered by his soul, enables Kain to defeat the Elder God - who is buried under the collapsing Vampire Citadel. Armed with the Reaver and with the ancient evil defeated, Kain looks upon the crumbling landscape and reflects upon Raziel's ultimate sacrifice:
"Most ironic of all was the last gift that Raziel had given me: More powerful than the sword that now held his soul, more acute even than the vision his sacrifice had accorded me. The first, bitter taste of that terrible illusion - Hope."
It doesn't really resolve anything. But the great conspiracy has been unravelled, all the hands have been played out, all the cards laid bare and Kain has achieved what he wanted - the Coin has finally come to rest on its side.

Well, yeah. That's why I picked it.
Maybe it's just the games I choose to play, but I don't have any shitty games in mind that I think would turn "good" if someone took another crack at it. I'd rather someone take my all time favorite games that I still play and make it so I can continue playing them as an updated experience. Widescreen, cell-shaded graphics, and 5.1 surround with the exact same Super Metroid gameplay is very high on my wish list.
And of course if they want to throw in a little extra new shit after the main story, a-la Zero Mission, well that would be just fine.

Capcom, do a Ghouls n Ghosts (Super please). Or Cybernator Konami! Castlevania IV? SOTN!
Capcom did do a Ghouls 'n Ghosts remake on the PSP. They also did a Rondo of Blood remake, which is as close as you're going to get to a Castlevania IV remake.

I know, but dammit I want one that's not on a handheld. Like Rearmed
A lot of games I like are remixed or redone for handhelds. But I dislike the handheld format for my fulltime gaming.

Games I want to see re-made (shinier, HD-ier, remixed audio, easier to get and play-ier, etc. But keep the same gameplay and story elements)
1. Final Fantasy VII
2. Panzer Dragoon Saga
3. EarthBound
4. Shadow of the Colossus
5. MechWarrior 4
Games I want to see a proper sequel to:
1. Deus Ex (fingers crossed for DX3)
2. Thief (Again, fingers crossed)
3. Tie-Fighter
4. Shenmue
5. Final Fantasy Tactics
Games I want to see in the same setting with a different story. I think these games told their stories to a good conclusion, but the worlds they are in have more potential.
1. Baldur's Gate
2. Planescape
3. Fallout (play something other than a Vault Dweller. New Vegas looks promising)
4. Ultima

Yeah but ED said something like he isn't dead and he'll get Kain and his little soul too!

IDK, it's clear we both love Super Metroid and Yeah even I think it would be cool to see one of my favorite games in a new light, but I still just always favor a fresh new game as opposed to a complete graphical overhaul of an old one. Maybe if it was also a "retelling" of the game, with some major yet tasteful changes made to the game areas, while keeping bosses, items and enemies mostly the same.

Well, I don't have a snes anymore and the Wii looks like shit on a HD. That's why.
And expanding on the legacy is all fine and well, but i'm still waiting for a Castlevania which is actually better than SOTN. As in it won't make for a better game. I'd rather play a great game again in a new coat than a new game that sucks balls.
There are 3 Castelvania games alone on the DS that are excellent "metroidvania" style games that are at least on par with or actually superior to SOTN.
and then the two or three that were on the GBA are were also really good.

There is no confirmation in the game that the Elder God is absolutely destroyed but he has been defeated. He isn't invulnerable and that's a start.
Is there room for a sequel in the series? Absolutely (in theory, given ideal circumstances, not otherwise!) But that doesn't mean that LoK, where it left off, cannot stand on its own. It can and it does. That's all I'm saying.

Like I said, handhelds give me handcramps. I tried Eclessia, and it was pretty good, but I can't get into handheld gaming that much.

Graphics update:
1. Deus Ex
2. Goldeneye
3. Resident Evil 2
4. Morrowind - Also would like the combat to get updated to at least Oblivion level.
5. Shadow Hearts - This is a PS2 game that looks more like a PS1 game. I think it was going to be a PS1 game and then the PS2 came out and they updated very few assets. The game has a ton of low resolution textures and so on.

Did you ever play it? I loved that game hard. The 3rd person shooter element, combined with RTS base building and resource management was brilliant fun. Plus the sense of humour in the game was so endearing.
I guess your analysis of it is pretty acurate, but the game deserved to do a lot better than it did.
Also, playing as Kabuto in Multiplayer was just hilarious. Two players have been facing off, building their bases, sending out exploratory forces, engaging in small scale skirmishes. Then you come along and just walk over their base. Brilliant.
And the world needs a new Elite! Oh the docking sequences.

3. Flashback
Fade To Black (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fade_to_Black_(video_game)) - Nowhere near as rad of course.
My choices:
1. Sacrifice!!! God this needs to be done... The game still looks good, I can only imagine what it would look like running on the crytek engine.
2. Syndicate
3. Freespace
4. Thief
5. Myth II

To be honest, I dont remember if I played it, if I did, it was a demo. I seem to recall the game had remarkably average 70ish scores.

Your recall is very, very wrong. (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/pc/giantscitizenkabuto?q=giants) The game is great fun. I bought it when it came out, but it didn't run on my PC. It runs fine on modern machines, though, so I've been able to play it around a decade after my original purchase.

I knew you would be one to apreciate the awesomness of Giants.
Fade to Black was a real let down as a sequel to Flashback. I appreciated what they were trying to do, and in some ways were ahead of their time, but they didn't really pull it off.
I'd be happy with and XBL or PSN version of Flashback. There's an iPhone version, but the controls do it no justice whatsoever.

I remember trying to play this game in 2001 and thinking it was soooo god-awful. My roommate saw me playing it and fell in love and played through the whole thing. I remember hating the battle system, the characters, and the main graphics, but thinking that cinematics were gorgeous for the time. Yeah, we even threw a VHS in when he beat it and taped the ending.
What did you like about it?

My college roommate made me play Sanitarium, and it was awesome. I think it's worth the 10$ over at GOG (http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/sanitarium). If you liked Planescape: Torment or Fallout 1 + 2, it's worth a try. More story, less open world, but still awesome.

Lately ideas for a remake of the Journeyman Project games have been bouncing around in my head. Not like the old point and click adventure games but more like FPS/adventure. You still wouldn't carry a gun, and cause I say FPS I don't mean running around killing a billion dude through out time. Maybe a little like Timecop. Solve crimes, track some fools, tranq some fools, bring them back, fix some time screw ups, and make it back with out fucking shit up.
