THQ and Vigil Games' apocalyptic action adventure romp Darksiders, released earlier this year for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, is coming soon to PCs.

Earlier this afternoon, the following post appeared on the official Darksiders site:
There are some of you who have been holding out on Darksiders because you want it on PC. Well, it's official. Darksiders is coming to PC in June, and it'll be just as awesome as it is on consoles. Take it from General Manager of Vigil, David Adams, "We are really excited to have the opportunity to bring Darksiders to the global PC audience. We feel that the growth of digital distribution and PC online communities creates a great environment for our game. We are working really hard to make sure that key features such as user-defined resolutions, interface and both keyboard and game pad control sets are all up to the standards for today’s discerning PC consumer."

I, for one, anxiously await the game's projected June release and a future Steam Weekend Deal.

Here's the full press release:

AGOURA HILLS, Calif. March 29, 2010 — THQ Inc. (NASDAQ: THQI) today announced that its critically acclaimed action-adventure title DarksidersTM will be coming to the PC in June.

Released earlier this year for Xbox 360® and Playstation®3, Darksiders will be available for PC gamers to enjoy in all of its apocalyptic glory this summer. Developed by THQ’s in-house studio Vigil Games™, this version of the game is being meticulously crafted to deliver the same great art style and dynamic game play to a whole new audience.

Travis Plane, Vice President of Global Brand Management commented, “We are delighted to be able to bring Darksiders to the PC. THQ is focused on bringing great product to the PC gaming audience so it was vital that we allowed Vigil the time to optimize the title for the PC platform. We hope PC gamers experience the same thrill and get the same level of satisfaction assuming the mantle of WAR as the console audience did.”

About Darksiders

Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of mankind, WAR – the first Horseman of the Apocalypse – must return to Earth to search for the truth and punish those responsible. War must take on the forces of Heaven and Hell, forge uneasy alliances with the very demons he hunts, and journey across the ravaged remains of the Earth on his quest for vengeance. Players harness the apocalyptic power of War, combining brutal attacks and supernatural abilities to decimate enemies who stand in his way. With an extreme arsenal of weapons, War blazes a trail of destruction, and emerges even more deadly atop Ruin, War’s fiery phantom steed. Darksiders is now available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It's cool that they are porting to the PC...but I'm just not sure how large an audience there is that wants it in the PC that didn't already get it in the 360 or PS3.

Small audience, since I don't even want it on PC (and I want EVERYTHING on PC) and already played it on PS3.

Well I am a potential buyer. I didn't have a 360 (already sold) nor a PS3 (hadn't purchased yet) when Darksiders was released. I was thinking about buying it soon but now that I hear it is PC bound, that'll be my platform purchase of choice.

So if I get it, am I then included?

And the decision to send this back to Gamefly has finally been made for me. I'm enjoying it casually, but casually enough that it'll take me a long time to actually beat. I'll just snag it in a Steam sale eventually and finish it off at my leisure.

There's a lot of 360/PS3 games I'd never bother with, that I'll pick up on PC. This is one of them.

Hot damn.

Count me amidst that audience, then. I don't own a console, can't dedicate a television set if I did, and can't be bothered to switch between console/computing on my PC monitor. Colour me excited!

All my friends have been raving about it ever since the game was released, guess I won't be feeling so left out anymore.

Here's hoping THQ can match the current prices of the console versions or at least offer a decent Steam weekend deal.

It is good to see a decent game going to PC. Too bad it took this long because I have a feeling sales will be minimal. I spent some time with the demo and feel this is not my type of game.

I almost want to pick this up for PC too just to support this. Almost.

Count another in the audience. No 360 or PS3.

I'm DEFINITELY picking it up. Pure PC gamer here and always feel a bit left out when games like this skip the PC. I hope sales are great, that'll mean THQ will also bring the Space Marine actioner to PC. :D

I'm definitely looking forward to it. One of the things that excites me about this port is that it is being handled in-house at Vigil and not farmed out to another studio to get it on PC.

Hopefully it's a good port, the price is right, and it doesn't include any shitty DRM.

I won't hold my breath, but if it meets the above requirements I'll pick it up.

It plays excellently on my 360. Coincidentally, my free copy of Red Faction arrived Monday, same day I returned from PAX.

Until I see that it's a good port, I'm leery. Whenever there's a six-months-late port to the PC like this, I get nervous.
