The F.U.D.Cast continues on, this time fumbling many an assassination attempt in Assassin’s Creed. This show, we end up getting annoyed with our inability to properly assassinate someone – generally due to external forces that had nothing to do with us playing the game “incorrectly”. Drew joins us full-time as of this episode, and Javier doesn’t appear as he would be better served speaking underwater as compared to how his microphone was treating him for this show. We muse on “vertical gameplay”, moves that we thought we should be able to do (but can’t until the sequel), and really enjoy the views – as long as we’re not at the edge of a city. Join us as we help Desmond realize that the animus can make him much more than who he is already.

Perfect timing, I need content for tomorrow's boring work shift. And I'm always interested to hear commentary on the plot of Assassin's Creed.

Good show all, just a relatively minor gripe.
Yes, we get it, (ghostbear?) you didn't like it. But rather than come up with fixes or suggestions, you just ... hated it.
I'm not going to say it was the best time I have ever played, but when I played it at release, it was the most impressive looking game I had played yet. I didn't bother with the flags, but I kinda liked the story.
As far as the fighting went, yeah it felt like a QTE, (as in just waiting to hit a button).
But I still enjoyed it nonetheless.
Maybe it just hasn't aged well, since I haven't picked it up after i beat it at release. Plus it seems the sequel has trumped it in every conceivable way.
Edit: I only made it about halfway through today, I will try to finish it tomorrow, but I'm pretty weary on all the negativity.

I am sorry you felt that way, but I am not going to sugar coat how I feel about any game we talk about. If I dislike something I am going to say so, if I like something I will likewise say so. I am not going to be nice to a game simply because people like it. That would make me a liar and I will not have that.

This would be why you need to listen to the entire episode - while Ghost can get a bit angry about the game, there are bright spots for him as well. Realize, even though AC was a fantastic game from a certain perspective, it really fell on it's face in many others. However, you need to also realize, we have to view these games on their original merit. To compare them to the sequel wouldn't be fair as a whole to the discussion. At the time, it was quite impressive, however, gameplay wise, it was a three-hour game that lasted 10-20 depending on how much you did. Of course the sequel improved, but that's another show...

Well I guess my point was that I felt that this game did alot right when it was released. It was flawed, yes, but the scale and beauty of the cities at the time were mesmerizing. It's just that as of now with lots of better open world games to compare it to, It looks very dated, and even I wouldn't be able to play it now without a sense of disappointment. After playing games like Infamous, Prototype(yes I enjoyed it),and Red Faction Guerrilla, I doubt I could go back to something like AC1 and feel the same sense of awe that I felt after I climbed to the top of a tall tower for the first time and going slack jawed at the scope and beauty of the environment. I guess it's the risk you take when you play a game that has been completely out done many times over since it's release. Therefore it's probably just my own memories of my first time playing it and experiencing it that clouds my judgment on how I would feel about it had I just gotten around to playing it recently. I suppose I came off a bit too harsh and I apologize for it.
I plan on listening to the rest of it tonight, I just got a bit worked up on the first half I suppose.:o

I only like the parts where ghostbear is bitter and the other cast members try and talk him down from his proverbial water tower sniper nest.

I'm actually trying to get him to turn the gun on himself. Shhh, *secrets*.

That's a penalty box, not a sniper's roost!

That quote is the one good thing to come out of Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot. :(
