As with every Thursday, last night we saw the weekly update to the PlayStation Store. Not a whole lot of new stuff to get excited about this week, both games that went up have been on XBLA for a good while now. No PSP content this week either, apparently. With the new direct access store you'd think we'd actually see some content. Here's the full list from the PlayStation Blog (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/10/23/playstation-store-update-57/):

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One ($14.99)
Prince of Persia Classic ($9.99)
Valkyria Chronicles Demo
LEGO Batman: The Videogame Demo
BUZZ! Quiz TV Horror Pack ($5.99)
High Velocity Bowling All Hallow’s Eve Ball Pack ($0.99)
High Velocity Bowling Foxy ($0.99)
High Velocity Bowling Chastity ($0.99)
SOULCALIBUR IV Additional Character - Yoda ($4.99)
Mega Man 9 Superhero Mode ($0.99)
Mega Man 9 Special Stage ($0.99)
Mega Man 9 Hero Mode ($0.99)
Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution Scenario Pack: Survival ($1.25)
Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution Single Player Map Pack 2: Surreal (Free)
Guitar Hero World Tour Classic Rock Track Pack ($5.49) [$1.99 seperately]
Guitar Hero World Tour: Guitar Duel Track Pack (Free)
Guitar Hero World Tour Neversoft Track Pack (Free)
Weekly Rock Band Tracks

Everyone who didn't get a chance to try the Valkyria Chronicles demo before should really give that a shot. Well, if you're a fan of strategy games, anyway. It's a lot of fun with some great music and art.

Great week if you don't already own a 360. For anyone who has played it, is Prince of Persia classic worth the 10 bucks?

For half of that you could get Yoda, freaking Yoda for 5 bucks, that's a bargain right there.

No comment about:

"SOULCALIBUR IV Additional Character - Yoda ($4.99)"

? God I hate when they screw the consumer like this. Just put both in each version, or make it permanent exclusivity, but don't come back later and ask if we want to pay for it.

That is beyond stupid, but it's become par for the course with Namco and DLC. I figured anyone who had an issue with it would have said something in the thread in the console forum about the announcement.

PSN Store reminds me of the front of an Apple Store.

All glitz and almost no product, or variations of the same product. They've got probably the largest videogame library in the world. Shame.

I want to know too, PoP and Doom are my oldest memories as a PC gamer.

Valkyria Chronicles Demo free outside of Qore now? I didn't make a second region account yet but still want to try this out.

Oh, and using both the PSN store and the XBL store... the PSN store is way easier to use. I don't know what the first store was like but this one is super easy to navigate.

The first store was pain and suffering. You pretty much had to sacrifice a goat (at a Sony party, no less!) to find what you were looking for in a timely manner. So much space wasted for big banner ads. And you used a mouse cursor, not the nice button to button selection that is there now. The initial PSN store was like a webpage, something they hurried up to make so they could have the store up.

Actually it was a webpage.
