In a blindingly unsurprising move 2K games have confirmed that Bioshock 2 "Sea Of Dreams", recently teased on the PS3 release of the original Bioshock, will be released as a multiplatform title. However, it's not yet clear whether it will be a staggered or simultaneous release.
2K rep Charlie Sinhaseni was somewhat cagey about the details, saying only "BioShock 2 is destined for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC platforms." Reps would not comment on whether or not the game would be released on all three simultaneously.
This is almost no news at all as it was almost certain to follow the same path as Bioshock 1, but it possibly implies that PS3 sales of Bioshock 1 have been acceptable so far.

I think the PS3 version was decided on way before Bioshock 1 was released though, with the teaser trailer of Bioshock 2 included in the PS3 version.

Major AAA 3rd party title is not console exclusive, News at 11. :p
In all seriousness, I wouldn't be surprised to see Microsoft give 2K some phat lootz to make this a timed exclusive. They've done it with a lot of titles this gen.

It would look pretty bad if this didn't come out on the PS3 the same day as the 360 version, what with the announcement trailer being on the PS3 version and all. I can see why it happened with the first game, being a new IP and all. But now that Bioshock is a proven seller, they'd need a much bigger hat.

I wonder how long if there is a "time" exclusive how long it will be. I can't imagine seeing the PS3 version a year later. I just want to know a release date so I can start whining now how much I want to play it :p

Wasn't the original multi-platform? It came out on the PC and XBox 360 on the same day. I know this because I bought the PC version as I thought it played better on that platform.
Why do people ignore the PC as a valid platform? I heard someone on 1Up Yours say that Fallout 3 is coming out on 'both platforms'. What about the PC version? Most odd.

Since it isn't a console I think they exclude it from those types of things sometimes. I know that games that only come out on PC and 360 still say 360 exclusive on the box, even if it is out on PC.

It's an old gaming "prejudice" that when the word platform is used it means consoles. It's incorrect but when I hear platform, I admit my guilt...I think current consoles...forgetting the PC...but it's a valid point. Of course, i'm an old gamer...so blame my "prejudice" on me being old :p

I tried to proclaim the PC as a platform back at EvAv, in a "the game's exclusive, but it's coming to both 360 and PC" discussion, but I can't remember anyone agreeing with me back then.

You're right, of course. I even played Bioshock on PC myself so it's not a deliberate attempt to ignore or declaim the PC.
/edit - what do you think of the piccy in the OP? I shooped it myself and even though I rate my skillz at around 5/10 (judging by the pixels and having seen a few whoops in my time) I think it works quite well. :)

I thought it was an official picture, so I'd say yes, it does work quite well. :)

I am soooo looking forward to this game. Bioshock was GOTY for 2007 for me. Loved every moment of it.
I just hope the PS3 version doesn't take a lot longer to develop (making us all wait).

This is great news, I didn;'t know they were already making a second Bioshock!
This is probably going to be a timed exclusive but it doesn't matter. PS3 people will be playing FOM2 and LBP until BS2 comes out.
I wonder where the story will go?

Well, now that developers are way more used to porting to PS3 from the 360 this really shouldn't be an issue now for any game. It was only a problem at first because no one could really get a handle on porting to the PS3 but in that time the game community has learned way more so the porting is easier now.

That's funny. I think his BIG Daddy textures was the issue.

Simple. The PC is so superior to the consoles that it is in it's own league. Hence it is not considered when thinking about the 360 and PS3, which cannot possibly measure up.

As long as it's on Steam I'll be content.
