Guns N' Roses fans thirsting for the upcoming "Chinese Democracy" will have a sweet, fizzy treat to savor as they listen.
Dr Pepper is making good on a prior promise to provide every person in America a can of the soft drink if the album were to arrive in 2008, and yesterday (Oct. 22) revealed details of the plan.
"We never thought this day would come," says Dr Pepper VP of marketing Tony Jacobs. "But now that it's here all we can say is: The Dr Pepper's on us."
Interested fans are being asked to visit DrPepper.com on Nov. 23, the day "Chinese Democracy" is released in the U.S. exclusively via Best Buy. After registering online, fans will receive a coupon redeemable for a 20-oz. Dr Pepper wherever the drink is sold.
The twist: the coupon is only available for 24 hours and will expire on Feb. 28.Free is good....I never even knew about Dr. Pepper's claim but it's good to see they are living up to it.

I'm the only one I know who actually drinks the stuff over here in the UK. I know I can put a six pack in the fridge at work and not worry about them being stolen, which is nice.
If the same ratio applies to the US then I suspect this won't cost them too much. ;) (BTW, am I the only one who can't resist typing "ration" every time I want to type "ratio"?)

Actually Dr. Pepper is pretty popular here. (AFAIK)

I drink Dr. Pepper all the time so I'll get some good use out of this coupon....probably save it for a road trip though since it's good till late Feb.

I like me some Dr. Pepper, but I haven't had a can in a long time. It's never disappointed, though.

Dr. pepper is awesome...but I always burp like a Barney Gumble wannabe when I drink it.
No other soda does that to me.

I don't drink sody-pop. However, if I were to drink it, it would be Dr. Pepper. And free Dr. Pepper is a siren's call I can't resist, especially if it helps make fun of Chinese Democracy, the Duke Nukem of the music industry.

Five to one odds says the can of Dr. Pepper will provide more enjoyment than Axl's fat washed-up ass.

Actually, everything I've heard that's been recorded by Axl during this period (with the exception of "Oh My God") has been solid.
The problem is that it is only solid. After a wait this long, it needs to be fucking amazing.

Seriously? I know tons of people who drink it. Hell I even drink the Dr. Pepper cocktail. Do you live up North or something crazy?

Dr. Pepper is my favorite soda. Actually, Dr. Thunder is. I'm a cheap bastard.
How do you describe the flavor of Dr. Pepper to someone who hasn't tasted it?

I like Dr. Pepper, and I think its funny that a company went out on a limb like that to poke fun at something so long-awaited. Whether or not I redeem my ticket or not, I think its pretty classy.
And I dont know of anything other than Dr. Pepper that tastes like Dr. Pepper, except for perhaps Mr. Pibb, which doesnt get you anywhere with the description.

How do you describe the flavor of Dr. Pepper to someone who hasn't tasted it?
Sort of like a cross between a standard cola, and a ginger beer.

Very true.
Everyone that I know that likes Cola, also likes Dr pepper.

You just described my description of 7-Up Gold.
Strangely enough, after a quick Wiki search:
"The 7 Up Gold recipe was actually an unused Dr Pepper invention"
And a commercial for those of you no around in 1988!

I can't stand Dr. Pepper, or any Dr. Pepper flavored soda. I don't know what it is, but the taste makes me gag. Horrible, horrible stuff.
I'm not a big soda drinker though. I will enjoy an occasional cola or Mt. Dew.

Dandelion & Burdock. That probably wouldn't help any non-Brits though. :(

Man City eh? Well I'm from Brighton, so I'll count that as north. Basically anything north of Luton is my limit (because I frequently change there for trains to the north).

I actually watched a show on Discovery or the like that explained the origins of all the major soft drinks. Dr Pepper was interesting in how its flavor was created, but I'll be damned if I can remember any of it.

Love Dr. Pepper
Also love Dr Pepper Bombs...
glass w/ enough beer (a pilsner or something equivocally light in color...a lite beer (Miller/Bud) is probably best) to immerse a shot glass in.
Shot glass mostly filled w/ amaretto...top the shot glass off with 151 or something equally flammable
Light shot on fire, drop shot glass in beer, chug beer....tastes just like Dr P

Dr. Pepper is just about the only thing I drink (I will grab a Vitamin Water from time to time), and I pretty much swear by it. It's flavor is based heavily around cherry, but you can't really tell that unless you just know it.
Fun Fact: Dr. Pepper originated in Waco, Texas and began with the name of "Waco Cola".

No one here drank it, to the point they stopped making it. About the only soft drink I was interested in, so I guess that's kinda good since it means I don't drink any. But damn if this thread hasn't made me think seriously about procuring an import can.
Or, just drink Dr P!
That, uh...that won't have quite the same drunkening effect...
