Every entry in Gaijin Games' BIT.TRIP series is an absolute trip. Crazy thumping beats and nostalgic Atari-area gameplay and graphics wrap around an entertaining and nearly impossible WiiWare game. From BIT.TRIP Beat (http://www.aksysgames.com/bittripbeat/), to BIT.TRIP Core (http://www.commandervideo.com/) and the most recent BIT.TRIP Void (http://www.explorethevoid.com), these insane retro-futuristic rhythm games are an homage to our arcane past, as well as a glimpse into our potential gaming future.
Now Gaijin is taking us back to our platforming roots as we control Commander Video himself in their newest installment, BIT.TRIP Runner.

No release date is currently available, but the game is expected to drop sometime before this summer.

Watching that trailer doesn't quite give me the, "Oh crap I want to try that!" feeling that I got from the other bit.trip games, but still looks fun. That reminds me, I still need to pick up void. I've yet to beat beat or core, though I've gotten close with the last boss in beat. Apparently I suck at pong. But these games are fun.

I liked the one they put the demo out for, I should give the full game a shot. These are usually $5, right?

$6, actually.
$6?!! Now that's highway robbery! :p
Nah, that's not to bad. Do they all have that nice musical touch to them?

Do they all have that nice musical touch to them?Absolutely. They're essentially retro-styled rhythm games, and each one contains the same sort of trippy, blippy, bloopy chiptune soundtrack.

I haven't played the prior ones, but I love the rainbow trail. That just screams Atari :D

Everyone of the BIT.TRIP games has had a terrific soundtrack. Even though I haven't managed to beat any one of the games I have no regrets picking them up. Even though this one looks like a departure ( if thats possible for this series ) I think this is another day one purchase for me.
Dr Setebos, do you remember reading this would be a 5-part series or did I just make that up?

Dr Setebos, do you remember reading this would be a 5-part series or did I just make that up?I believe it's planned as a six-part series.
EDIT: Confirmed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bit.Trip). Six parts are planned.

That looks very entertaining, but after watching that video I feel drained and tired...phew.

Strangely, making it look more like a traditional game makes me slightly less interested in it. This kind of just looks like a rhythm game version of Canabalt. And don't get me wrong, I love Canabalt, but I've already played an awful lot of it.
We'll see how reception is when it comes out. I anticipate (rightly or wrongly) a lot of "can't I already play a prettier version of this in Flash for free"?
