Fresh, sexy DLC delivered to you weekly.

Note:

* indicates that the track is a cover

The songs in the bundled "track packs" can also be purchased individually,
be sure to pay attention to what you're buying as you could accidently buy the same song twice

Want to preview any of the DLC?
Check out Npeaen's YouTube account for weekly guitar charts (http://www.youtube.com/user/Npeaen) and Jarr3tt88RB for drum charts. (http://www.youtube.com/user/Jarr3tt88RB)

In the future event that you run out of space, my above post could be edited to accommodate.

It's gotten to the point now where I look forward more to the late-week announcement of next week's DLC than its Tuesday release. I guess I like a little hype and anticipation.

I'll certainly be trying again when I get home tonight. I'm just glad that I saw from other threads that there were some weird issues with this week's DLC, otherwise I would've thrown a fit thinking something was wrong on my end.

I completely agree. I actually enjoyed them all on expert guitar. Well aside from that 2 minute joke song that's virtually impossible to keep a combo going on.

I wish they could figure out a good way to rate the difficulty for each instrument though. It's so incredibly inconsistent and misleading right now. We've got songs that are 3/5 for difficulty that should be 5/5 we've got songs with flaming heads that are barely worthy of 4/5. It seems especially bad for the drums. I could beat every song in RB1 on expert drums minus Run To The Hills, and there are songs in the first 3 tiers that I'm failing out of.

It looks like we're going to be getting full albums from this point on though, I can't wait to see what they come up with. I'm hoping for a little Rolling Stones and some Doobie Brothers myself.

Nameless

Thanks for bringing this over here, Rock Bandit, it's incredibly useful!

I'm excited to be playing Blood Sugar Sex Magic for the first time tonight, my buddies and I are getting together to run through the whole album! Any songs that are incredibly difficult on Expert Drums that I should be wary of?

Sorry, Rock Bandit...but I've gotta post this. An AC/DC track pack is coming (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/09/30/nyt-rock-band-getting-wal-mart-exclusive-ac-dc-expansion/) to Rock Band and Rock Band 2, but not in the form you might expect...
Update 2: The "Track Pack" has been confirmed by Harmonix and MTV Games and will be available exclusively at Walmart and Sam's Club beginning in November*. The AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack will be available in the U.S. on Nov. 2nd for Xbox 360, PS3 and PS2 and on Nov. 16th for Wii. The disc will retail for $39.88 for Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii and $29.88 for PS2.

The AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack will also be available at most major retailers in Europe, Australia and New Zealand in early December. All tracks from the disc will be available for play in Rock Band and Rock Band 2 by entering a special export authentication code for the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.
Master recordings from various live performances (remixed by Mike Fraser; 99 mins.):
"Thunderstruck"
"Shoot to Thrill"
"Back in Black"
"Hell Ain't a Bad Place to Be"
"Heatseeker"
"Fire Your Guns"
"Jailbreak"
"The Jack"
"Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap"
"Moneytalks"
"Hells Bells"
"High Voltage"
"Whole Lotta Rosie"
"You Shook Me All Night Long"
"T.N.T."
"Let There Be Rock"
"Highway To Hell"
"For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)"
The tracks can only be transferred once per disc (http://www.joystiq.com/2008/10/01/rock-band-ac-dc-tracks-can-only-be-transfered-once-per-disc/). Which sucks.
After yesterday's announcement of the AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack, featuring all the tracks from the Live at the Donington album, Variety got a few more details from MTV's Paul DeGooyer. Most importantly, DeGooyer said the transfer can only be done once per disc, confirming initial indication of a download code printed on the game manual and expectedly void after use. Hear that gurgle? That's the collective sound of all those Blockbuster patrons' sinking hearts.
I'll definitely be buying this.

Granted, I got stuck on Foreplay/Long Time in RB1 (really, just stuck on the Foreplay part, since I know the rest of the song is relatively trivial). A lot of the RB2 songs are much more challenging in terms of sheer speed (Welcome to the Neighborhood) or surprisingly weird rhythm (I thought Anyway You Want It had a surprising number of weird bass hits). Granted, I just looked and those are both in tier 4 according to wikipedia.

I will say that for whatever reason, E-Pro consistently makes me feel like I have no rhythm at all, and that's tier 3.

Rock Bandit
10-01-2008, 04:17 PM
Sorry, Rock Bandit...but I've gotta post this.

No apologies mate, it's what we're here for.

Now to be honest...I don't like this. It's forty dollars for 18 songs, a price that's dictated by the fact it's an on-disc product. The weekly DLC was meant to free us from the shackles of such things. Now if the disc also included extra content like an AC/DC venue and clothes, that'd be great. And it's good to see it's transferable to the hard drive to keep with the "one disc to play them all" edict, but there's no reason this shouldn't be downloadable at around 20-25 bucks. That also gives people the option to pick and choose the tracks they want to pay for instead of the "all or none" way.

This move is obviously because of the exclusivity contract AC/DC has with Wal-Mart and it's either this or no AC/DC at all, but it still stinks.

And yes I'll probably end up buying it.

What I was actually thinking was that maybe AC/DC set track rates at higher than usual. Anybody remember when Harmonix said that songs would be from $.99 to $2.99. The band could have wanted that $2.99 price for them and this could have been a compromise.

Yeah. It's not so much the price point though as the disc format which forces you to buy everything. The fact that a person can pick and choose what they want, or grab everything at a discount, is a thing of beauty. We lose that here.

Variable Gear
10-01-2008, 05:31 PM
I agree that the price is far too high for the amount of songs we're getting. I'll be buying the track pack, transferring the songs and unloading the disc at GameStop. I have no need for extra discs. If they accept the trade-in, that should cut about $15 off of the price of the tracks, which gets them closer to the price point they would be at if they were available in the Rock Band store. It's not perfect by any stretch, but it's what I'll be doing.

Yea, that AC/DC disc is wack, but I really can't resist it. Truth of the matter, I'd probably pay double that for a Zeppelin pack too, as pathetic as it sounds. Really wish it was just DLC though. Would be so much more convenient.

The entirety of Motley Crue's album "Dr. Feelgood" is coming to Harmonix's multi-instrument music seres Rock Band on October 14, according to the band's blog.

"All you fans of Rock Band will want to check back on October 14th to download the entire Dr. Feelgood album through your console's online marketplace," the entry reads.

Based on past Rock Band DLC releases, Xbox 360 owners will receive the content on Tuesday, October 14, followed by a PlayStation 3 release on Thursday, October 16. No price was named, though such downloads have been priced between $11 and $20.

Both Rock Band and Rock Band 2 owners will be able to purchase and play the content. The track listing for Motley Crue's "Dr. Feelgood" follows:

"T.N.T. (Terror 'N Tinseltown)"
"Dr. Feelgood"
"Slice of Your Pie"
"Rattlesnake Shake"
"Kickstart My Heart"
"Without You"
"Same Ol' Situation (S.O.S.)"
"Sticky Sweet"
"She Goes Down"
"Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)"
"Time for Change"

Kickstart My Heart! Finally!

I finally found out about all the drama that happened over at Evil Avatar and, like many of you, logged out for the last time. Thanks for bringing this thread over here Rock Bandit. As for the AC/DC thing, I'm buying it. Rock Band is a social game and what rock band encourages singing along as much as AC/DC does. Yeah the price is kinda high, but I do like to have physical copies of my stuff so I'm not complaining :)

Guess who made the jump? As soon as Rock Bandit told me about this site and I was done drumming I came to see what this was all about. Not to derail the thread but things aren't the same over at EvAv. The familiar names are gone and it just doesn't feel right. Anyway, I came here and saw that the family was still the same and it made me happy. The only thing that irks me about this place are the colors... I hope that somewhere down the line we can pull some donations together to give this place a face-lift. What use is an awesome personality if the looks don't match it? Yes, I'm shallow as fuck.

Anyway, my love for both Rock Band and those who love it as much as I do is what brought me here. Rock on motherfuckers!

Awesome, I freaking love Motley Crue.

I also love AC/DC, but I am torn. I NEVER buy full Rock Band albums, basically because I don't want to play 15 songs by one group. I like the variety! AC/DC is one of my favorite bands, and I like every single song that will be coming out from them for Rock Band, but I dunno...I just don't want every third song I play to seem like it's AC/DC.

Once you have a lot of DLC, full albums' songs don't come up too often. I've got around 215 songs and I have 2 albums and the full Boston and Who pack and it is very rare that these come up.

It's 20 songs that were planned to be on the RB2 disc but weren't ready in time. So instead of either (a. delaying the game or (b. releasing the game and just moving those 20 songs into the regular DLC cycle without mentioning they were originally meant to be on-disc they let everyone know what was up and that they were getting them for free, or if you like, as part of the $60 bucks you already payed for the game proper.

This is really something more games should be doing. Reward people who actually buy the game new and also encourage people who don't have their console online to hook it up and download DLC. I'd like to see a retail game launch with full multiplayer as DLC, including a code in the box for free multiplayer for the original purchaser. This would allow developers to recover a little revenue from all those players buying their games through GameStop.

Still, you can burn those AC/DC songs to your hard drive and intergrate them into RB 2 (or 1 if you've yet to upgrade). Still would of preffered it as flat out DLC though.

Hey everybody,

No one saw this one coming! Next week we have Mötley Crüe's awesome album "Dr. Feelgood" coming for DLC. It includes 10 songs from the album as follows-

Rattlesnake Shake
Kickstart My Heart
Without You
Same Ol' Situation (SOS)
Sticky Sweet

This is my main concern- it's hard enough to get my friends to play mystery playlists as it is. Throwing in 20 more obscure songs, however worthy they might be, is not going to help. I already tend to avoid the 'confuse the drummer' options and ones like it because my vocalist doesn't want to screw up the last song of a successful set by getting thrown a song she's never heard and has no hope of doing well with.

I welcome the chance to try out a bunch of new bands - I'll probably enjoy at least some of the tracks. But I wish they'd come up with a way of excluding songs from random picks if they're going to guarantee that 20% of the RB2 song list is a complete unknown for most players...

Advertising 20 free songs to be delivered by end of year, for purchasing a game is not 20 free songs. You did pay for the game correct? Just because it says free it doesn't mean, in this case, that you didn't pay for them. You have a code that came with a game you purchased to get them, and as everyone else has mentioned, they suck.

If they were free people that didn't purchase RB2 would be getting them also. FOR FREE.

As Disgustipated said, fuck off. You are a moronic fan boy. We have been told a LONG time, that the game would have 20 "bonus" tracks that wouldn't fit... and would come with the game, to make it 100 songs +. That was part of the SELLING point. Not 84 songs, but an ultimate number of 104 songs. So yes, if they have 20 new songs that VERY few have HEARD of... then I feel I am getting ripped off. I hope there are some songs in there that I really like. I know in RB 1 there were some that I had never heard, and now are favorites... but dropping 20 like that? I already think RB1 had far more wheat in the chaff... this just makes it worse, for RB2.

RB 1 had fewer songs, but more I liked to play. Ultimately, THAT is what matters. Add to that, the fact that I can't create set lists to choose JUST those songs when playing, I enjoy... and RB 2 is kind of slowly falling off.

I have not seen the option. What I am talking about, is in the game itself... when you have to play "random set lists". It would be nice to be able to queue up the songs I actually CARE to play, not just 100% random. That is what I am referring to.

In quick play there is an option at the top either above or below Random Song that lets you choose a setlist.

Edit: Also, the day of the election (the same day as the controversial free songs) they are releasing a Presidents of the United States 3-pack.

Because I'm trying to turn CoG into a totalitarian dictatorship run by me.

Or I think people are freaking out because they had too lofty expectations and I'm saying calm down.

Pick one.

It seems pretty controversial. Or divisive. Either way, people be yellin' at each other over it.

Not really. I have about 250 songs in my game, but it seems like in the random options or mystery setlists I am far too likely to get one of the few songs I absolutely despise and which completely kill a party atmosphere. I want to be able to mark a small number of songs to never come up unless I manually select them. We're playing the game to have fun, after all.

Between RB1 tracks, download tracks, and RB 2 tracks, my "list" would be greater than what is in Rock Band right now. It MAY defeat the purpose, but it would make the game more fun, at least for me, and those that I personally know that play the game. None of us want to play My Sharona in a random set list, EVER again. But, we want to have the option just goofing around... Stuff like that.

I agree with this in a limited fashion. I think you should be able to ignore 1-2 songs in each difficulty set. I liked how in the original Guitar Hero games, you usually didn't have to play every song in a set to advance. Sometimes I just plain don't like a song and don't want it in there.

If you're just goofing around however, why not just use quickplay?

Can we ban this troll? :p

I was at Best Buy yesterday and they had the new GH:WT guitar hooked up to the demo station. I gave it a good molesting to see how it felt.

Buttons feel exactly like they do on the Les Paul. This is a negative in my book, they stick out too far and were a bit tight. The touch-pad buttons were...there. Without the game to test it out with I have no idea how using those feel.

The strumbar is now the exact same thickness and shape as the Strat but with that Les Paul clicki-ness to it.

The back/starpower button is very nicely situated. My palm was resting right over it and is perfect for those that don't like tilting. It's also used to for palm mute notes for bass players.

This was without a doubt the heaviest toy guitar I've ever held but it was still pretty tiny compared to the strat. Design wise it looks like one of those knock-off guitars your mom ordered out of a catalog for $75 for your 11th birthday with a name like The Bender Superstar.

For me it has nothing to do with quality control. I've played both of the RB guitars and they just don't feel right. It's that effing strummer.

I actually did play GHWT at Best Buy. I'm sure it's the tester but the strum bar on the new guitar felt just like the RB2 strum bar. The cymbals on the drums were broken. The yellow wasn't responding and the orange was broken off.

The RB vs GH guitar debate.

You know, in my experience, so far, whatever guitar you started playing, and learned with, is the one you prefer. I recently started playing with my RB1 guitar, and quite like it.... EXCEPT for the things I like on the GH guitar. :-) How does that sound? They are very different. I DO like the quietness, of the RB guitars.

I'm liking the DLC for next week (if it's true). I'll probably pick up the two Silversun Pickups songs since I loved Lazy Eye. I too played Guitar Hero: World Tour's Guitar at my Best Buy. It felt exactly like the Les Paul (which I kinda liked, but my favorite is still the X-Plorer). The touch pad buttons felt terrible though. They don't stick out of the neck at all and there is absolutely no spacing between them. So basically, go to one of your old guitar hero guitars, take your index finger, and slide it up and down the middle of the neck and that's what it feels like. Not very intuitive at all.

The drums were....well, they were broken already so I can't really tell you about them (though I guess that can speak for them quality-wise). One thing I have to point out is how it holds the drums sticks. Instead of having two plastic things stick out in front of them to hold the sticks, they have indentations in the side of the drums to make them stand straight up which is a really weird choice. Enough of this Guitar Hero: World Tour discussion though, I'll start a thread for that before this one turns into a huge debate.

I went by my Best Buy yesterday and they had their Rock Band demo area decked out with the ION drum set. Man, that thing is pretty. Quiet as heck too (big deal for my apartment-dwelling ass). Okay, sorry to bug everyone in this thread, but I gotta ask - has anyone played the RB2 drum set to give me an idea whether I should just plop down the money?

I have a launch-day RB1 set, it's not sensitive at all, so I really need to pound on them to play. Which makes them loud as hell. I've tried pads, which makes them quieter but a tad less sensitive, so I need to pound on them even HARDER to register hits.

Are the RB2 drums A> quieter, and B> more sensitive than the RB1 drums?

Get the RB2 drums if you're still with the original ones. They're a MILLION times better. They're not as quiet as I'd like them to be but the sensitivity is better and they just feel better too.

Definitely get the RB2 drums. The GH drums are pretty crappy and they have nothing to hold the bass pedal in place. Also, using the RB2 drums in GH will be much easier than trying to use the GH drums in RB2.
