Some one has kindly put together a video of all the info about companion characters we've had so far collected in to one place. It's a bit rough but it's very useful if you've not been keeping up with news from the game.

Summed up you'll have a roster the same size as most bioware games but can only use on at a time. They will have all the good stuff from the single player, quests stories relationships and romance with the ability to effect them with choices you make having an impact to the point you can even drive them away.
They will have there own skills (such as healing) and will have at lest visual customization of some form or another so that you don't have copycats running around. You don't even have to use them at all, you may want to leave the companion you've got all loved up at home while you go sweep a NPC off her feet.
So all in all no new info but it's nice to see it all rounded up in one place so you can start to draw some more solid conclusions about what they are doing. It honest to god sounds more and more like they are just making a huge single player kotor game with co-op... this, for me at lest, may make it the perfect mmo.
