As you guys know, I'm now out in California for a few weeks before shipping off to Greenland for a year, and I've been without any of my podcasts (including this one) since 1 October.

So, having limited time on the Internets out here, and just mainly wanting to know what my friends back home thought of it... I was wondering if you guys could give me your thoughts on Dead Space. I'm assuming that at least one of you has played it.

I realize that I'm asking about a console game, and that there's an entire section of the forums for that; but I'm curious as to what the In-Game Chat folks thought of it. So I'm posting this here.

Thanks guys. See you in December, I hope.

Ohhhh, us "console guys" aren't good enough with our opinions? :P Dead space has been getting great reviews and accolades for its fun factor.

If you want to get a game that can chew up some spare time I wouldn't definitely suggest Fallout 3. You can play through it numerous times, and there's always shit to do in the game.

Good luck keeping boredom at bay out in the great icy nothing. I'll save an extra seat in Super dodgeball every game at PAX next year so we can think of your expert dick kicking skills. ;) If you're back in December, we'll have to get some L4D going :)

FYI: I'm surprised greenland has electricity.

Cool! Well, it's nothing against the "console guys" (all the love in the world for the rest of us dick kickers... Ha ha ha!!--I'm going to have to brush up on that while I'm up North so as to best you when we get back to Seattle next Summer, Coop), it just kind of sucks that I am not back online with my podcasts and a computer of my own (mine was recently put into storage). Otherwise, I'd be in the chatroom during the broadcast.

If I can get my 360 set up out here, and quit wasting money by leaving the base with my truck I might just rent Dead Space. In fact, last night, when I visited the local town of Santa Maria, (known the world over for housing Michael Jackson's Neverland Valley Ranch, gag!) I hit up a Hollywood Video since Blockbuster has pretty much abandoned this place and they had ONE copy of the game, but with no opionions from the collective "y'all" I passed on it and just got some DVDs. I might have to give 'er a play though before I leave here. Lord knows the premise seems neat enough. :)

I'm still not sure about Fallout 3. It's definitely purdy, but I suck the fat one at RPGs (Penny Arcade being the one game that I've managed to suffer through because I liked the story, I still dislike having to wait my turn to play... because in a real fight no one just stands there and waits to get hit) and it looks like it's only half-shoot 'em up and the other half is RPG.

I think I'm going to get L4D on it's day of launch. That will suck because I won't have online play out here (and they charge a fortune, from what I understand, up in Greenland), but I'm hopeful that the single-player story will be fun enough that I won't lose interest.

Not sure what December will be like, but if I can spend an hour or so on XBL (most likely over at Scott's house, since my folks are still using dial-up... in 2008!!!) I'll definitely hit you up.

By the way, I'm surprised that Greenland has a lot of things... like a cleaners, because your's truly isn't exactly ironing-board-inclined, if you know what I mean. ;)

See you next Summer, bro. Hope this finds you well.

Don't mistake the V.A.T.S. system (the parts of Fallout 3 you've seen that seem turn-based) for a Penny Arcade-like RPG mechanic (or even the original Fallout turn-based mechanic). It can be played 100% like a shooter, in real time.

Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeheeheeeeeeeeeally?

That's good to know. This guy might be off the chopping block now.

Very good to know.

Any more Dead Space input from anyone? Funny how no one from the show has commented on this. (You guys are killin' me!)

Well, we figured you'd get around to listening to Monday's show (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=1503).

Seriously. It's all the Dead Space you need to know, as far as our opinions are concerned...or James' anyway.

Or you can send her a PM here or email her at in-game chat, if you want.

It would be her name @ingamechat.net

No need to worry, friends. I broke down/gave in and got a computer Saturday afternoon. I've just spent the last four-plus hours downloading podcasts... so maybe in a week or so (if I just spend my free time simply listening to the podcasts) I can be caught up.

It's nice to be back in the swing of things, however. I'll be glad when I can figure out how to get my previously downloaded podcasts/music onto this machine (from my iPod) too.
