Today, the company opened an event info page. According to the page, the first 100 who arrive will walk home with a special KOF XIII tumbler. The event will be hosted by personalities Mitsuhiro Ichiki and Haruna Ikezawa, with Sayuki Matsumoto appearing as a special guest. What they'll all be talking about is a mystery.

Also at the event info page is a time schedule for the first location test. This will be held from March 26 through March 28 at the Hey arcade in Akihabara.

I love the Taito Hey game center. I've been there many, many times on my two trips to Tokyo. It's probably the best game center in Akihabara, though not my favorite game center in all of Japan. HEY stands for Hirose Entertainment Yard, if I remember right.

Other notable candidates for my favorite are Round 1 in Kyoto, near Teramachi St (really a bowling alley but their game center is huuuge. Expensive, though), and the Club Sega at the bottom of Dogenzaka Hill in Shibuya, Tokyo.

New systems for KOFXIII include EX moves, which convert each characters' super moves into more powerful versions at the expense of your power gauge. The new Drive Cancel opens up new combo possibilities, allowing you to connect from one super to another. Also new for the game is Hyper Drive Mode, which gives you unlimited use of Drive Cancels for a while once you've maxed out your Hyper Drive Gauge.

As a huge NeoGeo fan in general, I've been following this pretty closely. I have a feeling they are going to make up for the rush-job that was XII. Word from the preview event on Thursday was that the fighting system was incredibly fluid and feels a lot like 2002/2003

The netcode quality for the console releases is really what is going to make or break it, and I'm pretty certain that SNK understands that.
