Just a quick note for anyone who has played Poxnora.

Tomorrow they are performing an update which will completely overhaul a lot of mechanics, the website and the game UI along with updating almost every single rune released to date.

May be something to check out if you got bored of the old Pox :P

If you're like me...

PoxNora is one of the very, very few things that SOE hasn't fucked up (yet). Don't stay away just because of those three letters. I will be curious to see how this "revamp" goes, though.

I just never got too into it. Bought a starter set and played around a bit with my brother a while back, but I guess I don't spend enough time on it to learn all the little tricks so I always got owned by killer combos.

In short, I suck.

I got a starter set as well and even bought some packs a while back...but I used to play Magic: The Gathering competitively. Which means I saw the road this was headed down right away.

The game itself is great, no question, but to make a "good" rune deck you have to either spend a small fortune buying individual runes or take your chances with packs. The last time I tried to play I got slaughtered because most of the randoms I played had these tournament-level decks with all kinds of overpowered and rare runes. I very rarely even came close to winning unless my opening hand was just badass. I could have bridged that gap by shelling out $$$ for runes and packs, but like I said, I played Magic. The thousands upon thousands of dollars I spent on little cardboard Magic cards are always a reminder of the evils of CCG's. My opinion of course.

Poxnora is awesome, don't get me wrong. Just know what you're getting into. A lot of the players have been accumulating runes and making badass decks for quite some time. It's tough to break into at first.

One thing of note then is that the new game will have a revamped tutorial for new players and the starter decks now come with some essential runes of the faction, including the banner (a rune which goes in almost all full faction battle groups) and one of that faction's hero runes.

They are also starting a sale today for a new legendary rune which should work with the hero rune provided in the pack (hopefully that hero anyway). But they have also finally stopped making Limited Edition and replaced them with these Legendary. All this means is the runes will eventually become available in normal packs some time after the first sale.

I never did like there being some runes you just never got because you were not around :P

Yup. It's completely retarded. To compete at the highest levels, an Ironfist deck needs two Whitestone Gargoyles, and because I was taking a break when they were being sold, I can now never get them, which makes playing Ironfist kind of pointless.

Less than 50.00 total. Actually less than 30. Its been a long time since I bought anything. I had ok luck with the original decks. To be honest I just really enjoy it and think its well done and though I don't win a ton I would say I am about 65% wins.

They are running more than a little late with this update. The forums are still up though and they are keeping the players well informed of what is going on, so I'm not really complaining.
