A German gaming site has some comparison shots (http://www.videogameszone.de/?menu=browser&mode=article&article_id=664477&entity_id=217887,214999,215002&image_id=925631&page=1&order=) available that demonstrate differences between the "Easy" and "Hard" difficulty levels of Mega Man 9. Pretty impressive.

I can't believe I paid $9.99 for this crap.

Wow, I'm suddenly interested in hard mode. I figured they just bumped up the damage, but this looks pretty interesting.

Boo hoo. I don't see how anyone could regret this purchase, there's 8 other games exactly like this one, you knew what you were buying.

No, that is not an invitation for you to whine more, so don't take it as one

Looks like your typical more enemies = higher difficulty to me. I'm guessing more trial and error until you get your jumps more precise.

This is my first Mega Man game and it's already one of my favorites from the XBLA service.

On-Topic: JESUS! And I thought the game was hard already...

I haven't bought it. I'm torn between my desire to be coddled and held in the warm, soft embrace of an easy tramp of a game, and the intrigue of being bitch-slapped by a dominatrix-game going all "hard" on me. ;)

Did I really type that? I'm beyond help now...

I lol'd.

To me, these hard modes are kinda pointless. I feel the game has a perfect amount of difficulty as it is, and any more would drive me insane. Of course, there are people out there who will dig this (i.e. japanese).

It's so hard it's not fun.

And it's also my first MM since 1, or whichever the first came out first on NES.

Nope. You're just really bad at it. I managed to pull a run with no continues AND no E-tanks used last night. It was awesome.

Mega Man 1 was probably as hard or harder than this game.

edit:
That picture makes me excited - does this update drop today?

So, I downloaded this. It's DELIGHTFULLY difficult on SuperHero mode.

I would have to agree with him. I never really got into any of the Mega Man games, save X, because of the difficulty, and I was a NES whore when I was a kid.

Maybe you just played the franchise a lot?? I couldn't even imagine getting good enough at this franchise to achieve what you did.

Last time that hard was fun for me was devil may cry 3. Ninja Gaiden Sigma just show me that I don't like hard games anymore.
I will try Wipeout HD and Megaman 9 because a lot of mys friend say that they are hard, fair and fun.

If he was quoting me... no shit I'm bad at it. If I was good at it it wouldn't be hard. You shouldn't need to play a siderscrolling game this much to be good at it.

They are fair and fun. People who claim they are too hard are just refusing to adapt their playstyle. The whole game can be memorized, every enemy, pit, and boss has a pattern and an appropriate way to beat it - but if you just run in a straight line and shoot stuff, you're going to die. If you die the same way three times in a row, you're playing it wrong. Learn. Adapt. Try different guns, try jumping more, try playing it instead of just running through it expecting it to unfold before you like Super Mario World.

Some people have been conditioned to think that if you're good enough to beat the first level, you should be good enough to beat the last. Megaman games are almost pure, they are so scientifically designed and balanced. You have to deal with each screen, enemy, and obstacle on its own terms, until at the end you've developed a whole new array of platforming skills - at which point they throw the Wily levels at you, and you have to use everything you've learned.

Add to this the fact that 9 could be called the easiest Megaman, since if you have a particular weakness in a level - say, you keep hitting spikes, or falling into one hole - you can buy a little life-saver device in the shop that will prevent that from happening. Personally, I find that this makes the game way too easy, but that seems to be what some people are looking for in a game.

Hard, but fair, and fun, mos def. But not if you can't learn from your mistakes, and not if you want to be able to beat a game on your first try without practicing first!

I pulled about 5 hours before my first time beating it. It's a hard game, but it's nowhere close to impossible.

I'm really sorry you're used to beating stages on the first time through. Just because games hold your hands these days doesn't mean MM9 isn't very, very fun.

(Superhero mode is wicked hard, tho)

It's really easy to just not buy those items, though.

I wouldn't have gotten my "no E-tanks no continues" run if I hadn't used the half damage item on the last level of the game, however.

I think he's saying it's the half-damage item that let him get the no E-Tank achievement.
