I've only been playing for a few days, so I'm curious for the opinions of more experienced players. So far, I've haven't needed money that I didn't have. Whenever I could train a new skill, I had the money for it. Also, when I made it to the AH on a couple of toons, I was able to buy cosmetic upgrades (shoulders mainly) for a few silver each.
Do my experiences scale to the rest of the game? I remember many times during my WoW career where I had to fore go "fun" gaming to grind money for various things... mounts, materials for extravagant crafting items (arcanite bars, yuck) etc. Frankly, it sucked, and I hope that WAR obviates this bull-crap.

The only time I've needed to spend money is on the 5 times a day I change dye colors and when someone sees a good deal on the AH and wants to borrow money. Other than that, I've always had more than I needed.
May change once renown gear gets more and more expensive, but at 26 I've yet to run into a situation where I didn't have enough money and then some.

There are not many money sinks in the game, for an individual. However, guilds have tons of money sinks  Its costs 10g per hour to hold a Tier 4 keep. I have always had enough money to get what I need for my character though.

I am in the same situation. I have never had any issue buying my skills and most of my gear was quested, purchased from the renown vendors (cheap) or an influence reward. On my 15 I have about 10G and my 9 has about 2G (40% guild tax on that toon for that 10G per hour keep holding).
I have been very pleased with the economy along with just about every other aspect of the game. Although many ridiculous folks are trying to sell blue items at 1G per level it seems, I have a couple nice finds from the AH for very reasonable prices.
The only time I've needed to spend money is on the 5 times a day I change dye colors.
Haha, that is sooooo me :)

Good to know. I got worried because I kept getting pm's from gold-sellers every 5 minutes.

Mythic's best defense against the goldsellers is making them worthless.

I dunno, if I went for the merchant's luxury dyes I'd run out of money pretty fast :o

Dyes are what I spend a lot of money on. Though, for my lvl 24 bright wizard, I ended up buying a full-set of gear at this level. It cost me about 6 or 7 gold. That, plus dye jobs, plus a high tithe has left me with about 15 gold right now. Oh, and I send most of my scavaged goods to friends, so I don't sell that stuff. The game doesn't have any MAJOR gold sinks, though, there are some pretty nice items taht sell for a pretty penny.
If you are getting gold seller spams, get Spam me Not (http://war.curse.com/downloads/war-addons/details/spam-me-not.aspx). I have not seen a gold spam in a week or two, because of this! Works great! Get the curse client, and their profiler, as well, and it will keep the mod up to date, and upload your toon to their server, so you can show it off (http://www.wardb.com/profile.aspx?id=98289).

And I really hope it stays this way, with the only gold sinks being at the guild level...it's so refreshing to log into an MMO and do absolutely nothing but what I feel like doing at the moment and always be progressing.
Outside of tracking down some of the tome unlocks (which I'm soon going to give up doing, Mythic has basically screwed ppl on Open RvR for these), I've never gone out of my way to do anything other than what I logged on to do and that's the best endorsement I can give an MMO.

You can waste a lot of money on dyes. The only big ticket item in the game for individuals at this point is level 38-39 purple weapons and some other gear. I got the 1000gp earning unlock a few days before my free month expired and still didn't have enough cash for a purple xiphos that showed up on the AH. That could be because I dumped 150gp the day before on purple lvl 38 shoulderpads. :) I sold a lvl 39 blue dagger for 165gp and a lvl 39 blue dagger for 100+, witch elves worship the DPS.
The best place to solo farm 38-39 gear, including purples is the last Dark Elf chapter. DE chapters in general seem to have higher respawn rate than the other two areas and there are some groups in the last chapters made up primarily of casters/archers, which are trivial kills when dragged into melee range. I've got a spot as a solo-DoK where I can fight continuously until my inven is filled with zero downtime.
I had 4 lvl 38-39 purples last time I played, unfortunately none of them were weapons. I'd get a 5-6DPS boost per purple weapon if I could get them.

I was excited that my level 11 sorcerer had 2.5 gp last night. Thinking back to WoW... on my first serious character, it took a few weeks, maybe a month to get that much.
I like the fact that money isn't as important in WAR, it reminds me in a way of the influence in City of Heroes.

I can see that. You had "money" but never really had to worry about getting more.
