I have been struck by the dreaded bug! My rock band 2 band and characters have disappeared from my Xbox 360 - and my band is gone! The band and characters still show up on the Rockband.com website - but it appears that the bit on the hard drive that tells RB2 what's there has fallen by the wayside. Woe unto me!
I checked the Rockband forums - but the sheer volume of posts seems to drown out anything helpful that I might find. At this point there appears to be no remedy. I did not take a local profile online in a group while playing or any other such nonsense - I always backed out to the title screen before shutting down (so as to avoid interrupting any sort of save) and everything. DAMMIT!
If anyone has some helpful advice, I'd appreciate it.

First I hear of this problem. How widespread is it?

Did you check to see if the save is still on the HDD? If it is, there's a chance they'll release a patch and be able to save it. If the save is gone completely there's nothing you can do. That's sucks dude, I hope it doesn't happen to me.

Did you have players using a local profile and a Live profile logged in at the same time? That's generally been the case for almost all the cases I've heard of.
There's this thread (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79459) about it on the Rock Band forums, but it doesn't have any help. If you want to help them track it down, they're asking people who've hit the bug to answer the questions in this post (http://www.rockband.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1264080&postcount=28).

Hard to say, but obviously far more widespread than it should be. My angry thread about it is here (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=525).

It is a feature, remember the press release that said "each time you go online, is like a brand new experience?"
I am wondering, if your band was "not classy" as the game is want to say, possibly the culprit.

I looked into this when I got RB2, and our solution was to only use my ID. Everything (our characters, our two bands, etc) is attached to the XBL ID, and there's nothing attached to my wife's offline ID.

Is this a 360-only problem?
Is this a 360-only problem?
Surprisingly, no. There are now 2 people in the thread at RockBand.com that say they have the same issue on the PS3 version.
