Carly Fiorina (of HP and Compaq fame) just released a campaign ad, and well...

I'll just let the video and this pic speak for themselves... (http://swampland.blogs.time.com/2010/02/03/carly-fiorina-releases-rare-psychadelic-attack-ad/)

The only thing missing was James Earl Jones' voice as the narrator.

Jesus Christ that was just....wow.

So all that, and their final message is still "anyone but the other guy"?

They don't even show the woman's face.

And frankly, I'm not sure I'd trust the CEO of HP in charge of any economy either.

Holy cow, I am frightened. That last bit was eerie.

It may be the most bizarre political ad I've ever seen from a mainstream candidate for major office. Just...wow.

That certainly was odd... I don't even understand the point.

I DO however understand the point of this one. =)

These adverts are just, wow. I mean, what the hell?

I've never seen a political ad like that before.

Carly's ad appears to be backfiring (no kidding) as Tom Campbell is now using it for his own campaign. (http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2010/02/carly-fiorina-and-the-demon-sheep.html) :D

I found it interesting that they considered raising taxes to somehow be incompatible with fiscal conservatism.

That line of thinking is usually coming from people who still think we're on the other side of the Laffer curve.

When I get into a debate with someone who's against raising taxes in the face of increased spending, I distill it down into a simple choice: Would you rather borrow and spend, or tax and spend? Borrow and spend is not sustainable in the long term.

Technically, wouldn't truly fiscal conservatism be the ability to set the budget so well they wouldn't NEED to raise taxes?

Well depends how you define fiscal conservative I guess.

In the eyes of most its paying for what you use. Either by lowering your expenses or raising taxes, but at the end of the day you balance the budget. Then again we're talking about California where legally its probably impossible to do either of them because I'm sure theres amendments that prevent anything from ever working out.

After the bang up job she did running HP (into the ground) I wouldn't trust her in charge of much more than a hot dog stand.

I haven't forgotten it because that will never happen. :D

This is probably the worst candidate in the history of candidates.

I dunno. For all the hype surrounding it, that chick in Massachusetts really was pretty damn bad.

Yeah, but we don't know if she was crazy which Carly seems to be if this ad is any indication. The Mass chick was just the world's worst campaigner as far as I can tell.

She was an epic failure of a CEO, and apparently an absolutely INSANE politician.

As if Carly Fiorina could resolve even a fraction of the problems in California.

To be fair, no one could resolve California's problems. I'm pretty sure that entire state is bat shit insane.

I don't know enough about Carly to mock her, although that ad doesn't make her look all that good.

Just don't ask any ex-HP employee about her. You're likely to cause massive rage leading into a stroke... !
