What you see above are screens from The Swarm, an upcoming shooter from developer Buka Studios and publisher 505 Games. In the game you're defending Red Square in Moscow from an alien invasion, and in the process you have to choose how much of your humanity you want to give up.
It's set to be released on the 360 this May.

Looks like prototype. Could be a solid rental.

Looks like a $15 XBLA game.

I was going to say, why does that look like a high res PS2 port?

Considering it's a developer I haven't heard of (anyone know of any previous games?) with an original IP, I'm giving them a for sure try. Plus, Prototype sucked and if this plays like it looks, hopefully they pull it off better.

With that one line you turned what was my peaked interest at the OP to a flaccid disinterest.

Wow, what's with the Prototype hate? I didn't think it was all bad. Tedious at the end, but it had its moments.

Prototypes production and presentation value dropped dramatically when the fighting became an attack spam but no indication you are harming your target. You have a dude who can launch tanks and pound into them but when you're fighting entities it's turn based boredom where a slight stagger might show your attack had any effect. Its pacing sucked and I think they could have developed it a bit better.

In short, it sucked.

Hmm interesting. A hydralisk that uses whips. Someone was playing Starcraft and watching some Iron Man 2 promos when they came up with this one.

I'm interested, but cautiously so. Not because it's an OP or anything (I love lots of new things, and think more companies should take chances) but it seems....I dunno, done to death as far as plot?

Can't hurt to rent it.
