Indie developer The Behemoth has finally announced a name for their upcoming game. Previously known as Game 3 (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=10565), it now bears the name of BattleBlock Theater.
It's still almost impossible to describe in words. The best I can come up with is still competitive platformer/fighter. Where you're forced to participate in plays. Like I said, these folks ain't right.
Behemoth won't say when the game will be released, just that it will hit the Xbox Live Arcade.

Dear Behemoth, keep putting animated cats in your games, and I will keep buying them. Thank you.
Also, this looks fantastic.... Jazzy Jackrabbit meets Penguin Land meets Alien Hominid?

From what I can tell, it's either co-op or versus platforming gameplay. Could be fun.

What an extremely dark concept for a fun game.

When will the patch that fixes the multiplayer come out? 2012?
Yes, I'm still bitter

So it's either vs or Battletoads-style "you motherfucker!" co-op played like a platforming SSBB...where you put on plays to the death.
This sounds like the single greatest idea for a game since ever. Times like this make me sad I don't own a 360. But my friends all do, so I just need to convince one of them to get it and I'm set.

I like the look of it now a lot more than when the first gameplay footage was shown about. This will either be awesome, or unplayable.

I played a tiny bit at TGS and it has amazing promise as a local party game.
They only had a few different modes/goals available to play then but provided they can mix it up enough I can see myself playing this with friends for hours.
I love all the opportunities for creative griefing when you team up with another player.
There's tonnes of different (I assume unlockable?) heads to have a real variety of personalities running amok which is nice.

Behemoth is one of those developers whose games always look interesting, but I end up avoiding them for various reasons. Alien Hominid was ridiculously difficulty and Castle Crashers was launched in a deplorable state, IMHO.
This does look cool, but I wish it was coming to the PC.

Alien Hominid was ridiculously difficulty
I'm pretty sure that that was the point. Side scrolling shooters are supposed to be hard. It's one of the reasons that I avoid most of them.

Thanks for quoting yet another one of my typos. *sigh*

Castle Crashers was cool if you played locally, which is really the best way to play anyway. I thought Alien Hominid's biggest problem was that it became more difficult playing co-op. Those damn ridiculously large (yet cool looking) bullet sprites took up a lot of screen real estate, and with two people firing heavily it was hard to see enemies or their bullets. Still, I managed to dig them both quite a bit.

I had fun with the Castle Crashers' demo, but all of the complaints at launch turned me off from purchasing the game. I've thought about grabbing it at some point, but I have more than enough to play as it is.
