I dont have one myself, but I came across this article and wanted to know if any CoG PSP 3000 owners had similar issues.

PSP 3000 screen issues (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/10/22/psp_3000_scan_lines/)

You really need to see the comparison screens, there isnt much point in posting a quote from the article.

Wow. That's pretty horrific. I don't own a PSP myself, but it's almost unbelievable how unapologetic Sony seem to be about such a siginificant hardware fault. I mean I know they have bad PR, but apologising for that kinda thing is a pretty basic step. And you've gotta love that the issue was caused by fixing an after image issue.

I don't think I understand the issue to be honest. Does the PSP really draw the screen interlaced...?

No. From what I can tell from glancing over the description of the issue on Wiki it's the way that pixels are arranged on the 3000. Apparently on the 2000 the subpixel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subpixel#Subpixels) structure was vertical, whereas now it's horizontal. This causes the illusion of scan lines. Apparently.

Thanks, that explains it I guess. :)

Well this is disappointing. I was waiting for the PSP-3000. It was going to be a Christmas gift to myself this year. I guess I'll have to find a new toy.

A PSP-2000, maybe? ;)

Unless you already have one...

I just assumed stock would be switched over to the PSP-3000 now in stores.

That's probably true, I didn't even think of that. :o But it shouldn't be that hard finding a 2000 later on, even if the stores aren't getting new ones.

I've put my 2 cents in on the news thread about this topic.

The 3000 is fucking great and I love it. I haven't seen anything like this firsthand with one exception during a match in Street Fighter Zero 3 Double upper. ONE TIME! It seems to happen when things move horizontally REALLY quickly, but I can play shooters like Einhander, Parodius, Gradius, and the like on it with no problems and without noticing this issue at all. I'm going to take pics as soon as I get home using a variety of games, to see if I can get some counter-proof going.

I have a PSP 2000 and it's pretty much the same thing. The only reason I would want a PSP 3000 is for the screen that cuts glare, but I'll settle for playing in the shade.

That's interesting to hear. The screen shots I've seen online certainly look very dramatic. So I'd be interested to see an alternate look.

I heard about the 3k-psp about 2 weeks after getting my red GoW psp, but I figured something like this would happen. We won't see another decent psp till the 4k.

Don't forget that the 3000 is currently unhackable (I think).
