Unfortunately due to a breakout of martian measles, the Johnny Gigawatt program will not be airing at it's normal time. But that doesn't mean we can't still have comic day! Click here (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?p=38281) to join the discussion, and for a look at what you'll find in stores this week, check out Diamond's new release lists (http://previewsworld.com/public/default.asp?t=2&m=1&c=6&s=428).
Picks of the Week
Final Crisis #4 - Yeah it's been dealyed a lot and run through three different artists, but I'm still dying to see where the story heads. The Earth is ruled by Anti-Life, and heroes have been co-opted, and the only free minds belong to the Flashes. And from teh previews I've read, things still get worse from here on out for the good guys. It's an ambitious book, but it still remains to be seen if it can live up to the promise.
Secret Invasion #7 - Skrullsrtavanga? Skrullmageddon? Whatever you call it, the Secret Invasion is winding down. Overall I've enjoyed SI, even though the tie-in books have been getting progressively weaker as the months have dragged on. Marvel has dropped hints about what the post SI world - branded 'Dark Reign' - but let's not put the cart before the horse. Plenty of characters still have to die to make this an 'official' event comic. ;)
Aetheric Mechanics - Another Warren Ellis graphic novel, this time about a steampunk-esque air war between England and Ruritania. No, I'm not that familiar with Ruritania, but who cares! It's an Ellis graphic novel where he's not beholden to any continuity or pre-existing narrative. That's full of win right there.
Question of the Week - It's that time of the month: solicitations. See what Marvel (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=18505), DC (http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=18494), Image (http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0810/20/imagejan.htm), Top Cow (http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0810/21/topcowjan.htm), Dark Horse (http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0810/09/darkhorsejan.htm) & IDW (http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0810/20/idwjan.htm) have coming this January. So: what looks good, what looks bad and which covers jump out at you?
