Being a fan of Crimson Skies, I'm somewhat interested in Dark Void, but I still need to check out the demo. And, eh, I guess that's about it as far as games this week...

I might check out The Invention of Lying, but it hasn't exactly been getting glowing reviews in the Off Colony section.

For what it's worth, Dark Void's Metacritic scores for both the 360 and PS3 are around the 65 mark. While I don't typically use this as an end-all, be-all for any game, most of the reviews mentioned two prominent negatives; bad controls and dull on-foot gameplay.

I have the unplayed demo waiting for me, so I'm going to at least give that a go before I completely write it off as a bargain bin title. It's a damn shame, too. It looked like it had promise.

Oh, that'd be a shame. Still, I might as well download the demo and find out for sure.

Dark Void IS slightly reminiscent of Crimson Skies, but only slightly. It's yet another mediocre release from Capcom. At least it has no competition this week. Glad I have Divinity II and a huge back catalog to tide me over.

I'm really excited to finally see Weeds season 5, but that's it for me this week.

I'd disagree with the controls part, but the ground combat was nothing inspiring.

I didn't think it was bad though, just nothing spectacular.

Glory of Heracles looked interesting, but I've got way too many DS games to play.

Anyone here see Whiteout or Pandorum? I read some negative reviews on Whiteout, but it sounded like a cool setup for a story, and it's based on a comic (which I've heard didn't get bad reviews); so I'm curious to see that one. I think I remember the IGC crew speaking favorably on Pandorum, but I'm not sure if that's right since it was so long ago.

Season 5 of Weeds I'll definitely be renting at some point. Hopefully it's better than season 4.

To me, the demo for Dark Void felt sloppy. I'm not sure how I would describe it exactly, except too say that everything felt very floaty. As if nothing had real weight. The combat didn't feel visceral, nor did the flying. It has also been pointed out that flying isn't even that much faster than the character can run.

It just didn't feel polished. I was pretty disappointed, personally.

I played the demo for The Rocketeer Dark Void and didn't care for it. I'll rent it when I have a free rental at bbv.

nothing else this week other than pick up Weeds S5 on bluray and go see Legion - trailers look awesome and Kevin Durand (Gabriel) is from Thunder Bay.

I suppose I might grab Silent Hill at some point but I haven't even played Homecoming yet.

I was turned off by Dark Void when I saw a video that was about half QTEs. I dig me some Rocketeer, and I dig me some Tesla, but not sure this is a game I'll ever get.

I'd skip homecoming if that is what is really going to hold you up. I know Spigot raved about the Wii version of the game. I'm going to try the PS2 version.

I already have Homecoming sitting on my shelf so I really need to put some time into it. I'll probably go PS2 but those SD graphics will hurt a bit :).

I really wish there was a PC version of the game. I'd love to play it, but I don't own a Wii, PS2, or PSP.

Edit - Whoops, that second part went into the wrong thread!

Glory of Heracles looked interesting, but I've got way too many DS games to play.I watched the Gametrailers review of the game last night and that was enough to put me off getting the game anytime soon. I've got enough JRPGs that range from excellent to good that I need to work on to bother with a linear, short and slow-paced game. I grabbed Sands Of Destruction last week and have liked what little I've played of it, so that's my spontaneous DS RPG purchase of the month :)

I'd skip homecoming if that is what is really going to hold you up. I know Spigot raved about the Wii version of the game. I'm going to try the PS2 version.Yeah. I LOVED the Wii version of Shattered Memories and would recommend it over the other versions, if only for the way the Wiimote is used to heighten immersion. And you don't have to play Homecoming to enjoy Shattered Memories.

And while it is marketed somewhat as a remake of Silent Hill 1, that's probably one of the most misleading statements ever made about a game. It involves a lot of characters that share the same name as characters in Silent Hill 1 and it's set in Silent Hill and you're playing Harry Mason, who is looking for his lost daughter, but that's about it. And don't get me started on the ending, which is still my favourite of the last half of 2009.
