New Alan Wake Cinematic Trailer Released

Alan Wake. Briefly considered vaporware by many people due to a stunning lack of any new information. Well, it looks like it can now be safely removed from the vaporware list that includes the likes of Duke Nukem Forever, the Phantom, etc. The following cinematic trailer should go some way to easing those concerns.

Dunno where people got the idea it's vaporware. Just because some people (like RMD in this case) don't show every piece of scenery months or years before release doesn't mean something is vaporware. But yeah, good thing they are finally showing something concrete. Judging from MP1 & 2 and their media releases, we'll probably see a february or march release.

I almost busted out Max Payne 2 again right there! I think that's just their style. This just peaked my interest again, I enjoy that this game isn't really hyped at all anymore.

Yeah the holster hands, and the overall way just everyone looks IMO. It all just screams Max Payne to me.

When I read posts like this it makes me wonder what kind of games they play and what trailers have them amped....this trailer looked amazingly good if you ask me.

I mean, don't get me wrong, it looks interesting but the massively long hiatus and an eventual release of 45 seconds worth of cutscenes isn't enough to get my blood going. Give me gameplay footage, give my story info, give me gameply info, anything. I've simply stopped caring for this game at the moment.

Don't forget that Alan Wake is supposed to be somewhat of an open world game. Compare the visuals with GTA IV and you'll see that the game look surprisingly good.

I like the cinematic trailer. It's different from the fiftysecondsofnonstopaction other games are offering. Does indeed make me think of the way Quantic Dream approaches their games.

As stated, this is an open world game. I like to think I am pretty up on the games but admit I don't get the time I used to. If there are games out looking better please point me to one.

On the animations, I cannot comment yet as I've only seen a few. But Remedy sure did wow me with the characters in MP1&2, far ahead of other games at the time imo.

Edit: just watched it again, I think the characters look pretty darn good actually.

I enjoyed the cinematic approach to the trailer and the music they had accompanying it. The graphics (landscapes) reminded me of Burnout Paradise through a filter, particularly the dock area. I also appreciated that not too much is being shown plot-wise to keep it a surprise for its eventual release.

Wow, I usually frown upon Trailers that have no gameplay. But that was one of the slickest trailers I've seen, I haven't followed this game at all so the long wait hasn't been a problem. This just rose to the top of the list though, I can't wait till this game comes out.

As for people talking about Graphics, with the gameplay these guys put out I'm sure the seasoned gamer in you can look past graphics you don't like. I actually don't have a problem with them and will be looking to the story and the play :).

I just played Max Payne 1 all over again, can't friggin wait for this. I hope the open world has plenty of things to do on the side, like Burnout's gates and billboards, or side-missions that reveal more weapons/storyline/clothes, etc.

Ah sorry i was getting mixed up with heavy rain or some such i think... which is why i think it didn't look at good as i remembered it... but i don't know the characters still seem a bit clunky to me, almost there but not really which is more annoying that not being there at all. I for example think the characters in hlep2 or crysis work and look better than here. Talking of crysis that's a large game who environment trump it... far cry 2 too from what i've seen but for an open world setting with urban areas it dose look really good.

Like i said i was getting a bit confused with something else heh but i still think the characters need a lot of work to feel right and the environment while very impressive isn't the best looking i've seen.

Heavy Rain is actually in the works. They released a trailer not to long ago and some screen shots. It has some nice water effects, although the chick hair didn't get wet. But it's still a PS3 exclusive to watch for next year I think.

LA Noir, I think was changed to a multiplatform game. 2K is playing dumb like they never said it was a PS3 exclusive. It's also still in the works I recall.
