View Full Version : Ride Em Cowboy! Country Music Coming to Rock Band...Eventually

Fans of rock music have (generally) been pretty happy with the Rock Band franchise so far. But what about all of the other genres that use guitar, drums and vocals? They haven't been as lucky. While there have been a few tracks that cross genre lines, the vast, vast majority of the songs have been straight up rock or metal. But fans of country music - as well as a multitude of other genres - breathe easier. Harmonix - or at least developer HMXHenry - feels your pain.
Furthermore, this thread blows my mind. With so many genres represented in Rock Band already, why would the addition of Country be such a huge shock? We'll have Country in RB sooner or later. Ideally we'll have all the various sub genres that people are clamoring for (hardcore punk, goth, ska, etc) eventually. We haven't shut the door on anything.Obviously genres that lean heavily towards instruments other than guitar, bass and drums are going to be harder to include in the game. But know that Harmonix wants to get as many types of music as they can in the game for your purchasing pleasure.

I'll buy into this if they make a Rock Band slide guitar. :D

It should also be noted that Brooks and Dunn have done some Rock Band sponsered shows.

As long as it's old school country, not this new "pop but with a southern accent" bullcrap.
edit: Although I just realized most of that music has very little drums.

How about some electronic? Maybe a little vocal trance? Now that they've made it so you don't need to have a part for all four instruments (YYZ), the possibilities are much more open.

That would kick ass, but then they would have to change the title of the game :P.

I demand "Friends in Low Places" by Garth Brooks.
I am no country music fan, but that is one epic karaoke song right there.

While not my particular cup of tea, I always wondered why they didn't include at least a couple of the more "rockin" country songs that exist.
I'm just glad it'll be DLC so I can avoid it.

If they get country, before I get some death metal (aside from At the Gates)... I think I'm going to have to kill someone.

You could always become emo and get working on those wrists.
I love that they're doing this. More diversity is a good thing and I would buy some of these.

Vandabo, Pomeroy and I were talking about this very thing just a few days ago (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?p=26362#post26362). Coincidence? Or Conspiracy?

They have some Southern Rock in their at this point, if they kept along those lines then I think it would be pretty great. Personally I would love a little Cross Canadian Ragweed in RB.

Some country wouldn't hurt, and the suggestions here are certainly what I'd hope for from a country pack. But man, I needs me some more blues.

This song would be really cool, and the synth line could probably be mapped to a guitar somewhat effectively.

So long as it's some good real country and not this poppy shit.
Gimme some Cash, or some Dwight Yoakam. Shit with soul in it.

Yeah no kidding, if we get some Toby Keith Ford humping bullshit before Queen it'll be a crime.
