On this edition of the Immortal Machines Podcast, your more awake than usual cast of Robert [Trebor], Eric [Ravenlock], Jeremy [Lord Don], and Clayton [Voodoo] have the delight and pleasure to talk to ISOTX’s Community Manager, Rhea Monique, about their first commercially released FPS/ RTS game, Iron Grip: Warlords (http://igwarlord.isotx.com/).

The questions we ask - yours included! - are what you would expect from a bunch of PC game playing geeks, but the answers that were returned allowed for a much better understanding of the game’s background, play style, and what future plans are in store for the Iron Grip Universe to keep their fans excited for more. As usual, we have also included our famous / infamous “What We've Been Playing” segment, which is actually quite a full plate - and later, Eric gets to respond to a listener’s email concerning the purchase price of PC games on the Steam holiday sale. So get that right mouse button in motion, open that context menu, and download some!

Indeed. Though I had played the demo, I have to admit I didn't really have a full appreciation for just how much is behind the Iron Grip setting and its potential, but she sold me on it. I'm really looking forward to seeing what ISOTX does next.

An admittedly sort of self-serving clarification: while I went with the easy and obviously false "there's no girls on the internets!" joke, I was actually more impressed by the depth of knowledge she had as a community manager. Prior to the interview I was sort of warily expecting PR-level regurgitation, but she knew a lot about how and why their design decisions had been made, and is clearly personally invested in the company on a level much deeper than promotion alone. That's really admirable and I'm glad she took the time to prove my jaded assumption wrong. :)

Woot, I won something and got my name mentioned in the podcast -- thank you! It's a good day for the Canuck :). Although I think they said Captain Canuck, heh. It's Cappin'Canuck, as in capping flags (CTF reference). I may be somewhat nationalistic, but not that far!

Good interview though. I'm glad to know a bit more about Isotx so I can look out for more of their stuff whenever the secret project is revealed. I'm glad my question sounded decent heh.

Hopefully having the full game will let me learn more about it. I know you said that playing on hard was, well, hard. But really, if three or four people worked together to build two MGs, I'm not sure how hard it would be. The problem for us was that each person built one and upgraded his. If you had 2 people per gun, you could get 2 lvl 3 guns up right away. Probably have enough left over for someone to get the RL too for the vehicles.
