Gamers waiting with baited breath for the launch of the New Xbox Experience on November 19th will have one less new toy to play with. Microsoft has announced that Xbox Live Primetime will not make the launch of the New Xbox Experience. Primetime you'll remember is the trivia game designed to play as an online gameshow complete with real world prizes.

The reason for the delay? According to a manager at Microsoft: "[T]he delay is necessary in order to ensure a smooth launch of the system's new user interface [NXE]." This delay comes shortly after Microsoft announcement that movie sharing via Netflix integration had also been dropped from the NXE launch.

Primetime is now scheduled for launch sometime in the spring.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooo.... etc. etc.

Is the Netflix integration shelved completely or just delayed?

You'll still be able to view movies, you just won't be able to share that movie with a friend across the country. They do say that they hope to integrate that feature at some point.

That's pretty much the only question. More like how delayed. I recall them not to long ago saying it will be more then the originally announced 50,000 movies. So upgrading before putting it out sounds like progress.

Oh ok... Fuck the sharing part. When does NXE come out? I need to know when to call Netflix up for an account.

Pretty sure it's the 19th of November.

As for the dropped Primetime: meh. I'd rather have the core features integrated and working, than some extra crap ruining everything.

No Primetime.
No sharing of Netflix films.

Avatars will be in there though, right? I mean, we've got to get the REALLY important stuff in there for the launch/update.

No Netflix sharing is no big deal. You won't be able to do it unless everyone in the party has Netflix anyway, so the only difference is now you'll need to all queue up the movie manually.

Primetime, though, seems interesting to me. Massively multiplayer casual games could be a lot of fun. Hopefully that'll come soon.

I'd argue that they're correct.

Not too many people have been jazzed by the idea of sharing Netflix movies when everyone in the group has to also have access to the same Netflix selection. The buzz for that died down pretty soon after that clarification was made.

I'm not sure if Primetime had any buzz at all. 1 v 100? Really? Is that even on TV now? (Seriously, I have no idea.) Did you see many articles about it? I didn't. Certainly not in comparison to the Avatars.

Like Johan said, as long as avatars are in there I'm set.

Look, sharing movies doesn't seem hard. You all have netflix, you all can download the same movie. Now watching a movie in all seriousness is done by yourself. However, you got a lazy Saturday on your hand, you and some friend load up a pretty crappy movie, and if you could have a good time. I say could because it depends on if you guys can entertain one another. I am sure most people have had there own personal MST 3000 style chattering through really bad movies.

The really important stuff is the reorganization - not this other shit.

There may yet be a announcement that surprises people, and it's one that goes beyond just the 360. There's a difference between the current build of NXE and an earlier one, but I can't say what.

That's true. That's what I'm looking forward to most (tied with Netflix....which I will join when this update goes live).

I'd like to know if I can beat the hell out of my own avatar. I hate the idea of an avatar...can I please put him in a fighting game and tear him to shreds? :D

Wait...who are you that you have privileged information?

It's not privileged, it's secret!

The new feature I'm most looking forward to is Community Games.
