lmao, I didn't even notice the fact that he was staring at Spidy's bulging package. What stood out for me was McScrooge's dollar sign eyes. It kind of visualizes what I think of Disney. Like Disney staring at Marvel with huge dollar sign eye balls, salivating like a money hungry beast.

Disney has always been known for it's homoerotic innuendo.

As i said when it was announced back in the summer, the deal won't change Marvel's comic output one bit. Disney won't censor Marvel any more than Marvel already does themselves and they won't change Marvel's business practices which are already profitable.

The big penis on the cover of The Little Mermaid is the first thing that comes to mind for me.

Then there's the part of Aladdin when he says something about "kids take off your clothes" or something like that. Of course that's pedo not homo, so maybe Disney is just perverted.

And, to head off the rest of them:

Lion King probably doesn't have the word sex in it. (http://snopes.com/disney/films/lionking.asp)

I don't know what's funnier, that you're getting your 6 month old news from a webcomic, or that your method of verifying the story is by posting here rather than doing a 5 second google query. I guess when you're that late to the party, an extra couple minutes isn't going to kill you.

Well there's the whole blinding stupidity of Dark Reign, cancellation of the Marvel Adventures line, the fact Jeph Loeb keeps getting work... you know, on top of the whole "Spidey sells his marriage to devil so his new roommate can get raped by Chameleon while being played for laughs" thing they got going.

See bitching and moaning again. They are revisiting the story this year:

http://ifanboy.com/files/images/marvel/Spider-Man%20in%202010_Complete.jpg

This will inevitably followed by more bitching and moaning and another batch of mediocre stories. Of course, everybody knows that the only Spidey book that mattered in the past decade has "Ultimate" in the title.

And as I said in the last comic thread, Loeb produces shit, but his shit sells. Like hotcakes. Free hotcakes. I am with you on the Dark Reign thing though. Norman Osbourne is the new Wolverine. AAAAAH! NO MORE CORNROWS!

There is no such thing is 'proper' characterizations when it comes corporate characters with 40 years of convoluted continuities.

I will say this again, you may not like this, but a lot of people think this is the best Spider-man has been for years, and like it enough to buy it thrice a month. It may not get 90K per issue, but it gets 180K per month and they only have to pay for one creative team.

Savok
01-07-2010, 02:10 AM
One creative team? Dude not really, they alternate every three issues, the costs of making Spider-man must have gone up ten-fold with the constant juggling act.

And while true of corporate characters, it's only to an extent. There's normal OOC like say, Civil War Iron Man, and there's no longer in the same universe OOC like serial rapist Superman, wife beating Scott Free or Spider-man selling his marriage to the devil.

Nonsense, that is just a lowering of standards. If I buy a Taurus from Ford I don't care how many different designs and changes it has been through over the years, mine had damn well better work.

I think we are talking about different things. By proper characterization I, and Savok, meant something that have always been traits of that character. But that can't be said of any corporate characters.

What I want to know is what happens to Islands of Adventure? Will Disney allow Universal to continue with it's theme? Or will Disney buy Universal and grasp a choke hold on the theme parks.

There's already rumors of Sea World shutting down due to the buy out of Anheuser Busch.

All current licensing deals will stay. All Marvel movies till 2012(maybe further), will be released by Paramount, and all of Disney's current comics licenses will stand until their deals expired. Which is good because Boom plans to release Carl Barks and Don Rosa's Scrooge stories in deluxe hardcover format.

Islands of Adventure wasn't affected. Universal's license to the characters for theme parks lasts for as long as they continue to use the characters in the parks.

So Universal can still use the old stuff, but if Disney comes out with a new movie I'm guessing the ride will be at Disney and not IoA. Or does Universal continue to have the rights to all the Marvel characters and whatever new stuff they come out with? It's kind of confusing because they are opposing parks.
