Any of you slackers competitive WoW TCG players?
I'll be competing in Paris (http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/wow/en/organizedplay/tournament/worlds/default.aspx) here in two weeks and I'm looking for folks to test with or talk metagame.
Testing on MWS (http://www.magicworkstation.com) of course.

Apparently, no one else plays, Rob.
I mean, I have a friend IRL that plays, but he doesn't frequent these forums. Heh. :D
I have I think the original and first two expansions (Fires and Legion, I think) and my buddy and I will occasionally play, but that's about it. No one around here plays at all and while I could probably hunt down a local comic shop that might be holding games, I'm not that keen on social interaction.
Fun game though and good luck in Paris!

Paris, eh? Nice! I've tried playing a few games with nnanji and it was fun. I do like buying the cards though because the artwork is phenom and, of course, I'm always hoping for an in-game item or two. ;)

If I knew anyone that played, I definitely would try it out, but I don't, so I haven't.

I own some starter sets and never opened them. Nothing against it just never had the chance yet.

I got the free starter with the BC xpac, but have never used it. Never really been into CCGs much. Tired Magic, and the D&D CCG, but neither hooked me.

The only TCG I ever played (and enjoyed) was Yu-Gi-Oh.
I kicked ass.
But I stopped because all my friends did. :(

A few friends and I played until shortly after Dark Portal stuff came out.
We had a tonne of fun playing it casually but just kinda stopped playing after a while.
One friend and I went and played in the regionals before Dark Portal came out and I couldn't believe the number of elitist wankers there which turned me off ever playing competitive TCGs again.

I hate any game where more money = better deck. Any TCG falls victim to this. In my opinion, these are very poorly designed games. I fear the WoW minis game is going to be the same thing. Great mechanics, but when the person with the most cash to spend on cards/minis will win nearly every time, you have failed as a game designer.

My worlds deck this year can be put together for about 35$ on ebay.
Just because a game is collectible doesn't mean you should be a moron and buy retail.
If you're going to buy retail packaging, at least buy in bulk, you'll save 40%+

Anyone who's actually interested in playing, you can play the card game online and for free.
Yup. You read that right.
Check out this thread (http://entertainment.upperdeck.com/WOW/COMMUNITY/forums/thread/1445050.aspx) for details.

No problem! Check the tournament reports from the WoW TCG site (http://www.ude.com/wow) for the Top 8 deck lists from major tournaments.

I'm confused by the link though, so many different files to download, what do I need to just play right now?

Err, sorry. Just the 4.0 Full version plus MWS will give you everything that's out currently.
Download MWS here (http://www.magicworkstation.com/downloads.php).
