So, I'd not really been following news about this film or even been that interested from the tiny bits that I'd seen and the fact the way people where talking about it seemed more "super bad but superheros" than anything else.
Turns out I was clearly not paying enough attention and everything I thought about the film was very very wrong. I'm just going to send you to the link that has made my day
http://io9.com/5431865/nic-cages-little-girl-drops-the-c%20word-and-kicks-some-ass
It's NSFW in anyway what so ever but if you can watch it, do. If you're not smiling by the end of it you are a robot and not one of the fun kind with emotions and all that good stuff. The bad kind who will get there ass kicked by wall-e.
Here a link for the full teaser trailer, which doesn't just focus on one character even if hitgirl could carry a film by her self from the looks of it
http://www.traileraddict.com/trailer/kick-ass/teaser-trailer
Anyway I'm now going to see this film where as before now I didn't even give it a passing thought.
http://kickass-themovie.com/
Full film site to now I thought to find it. You can get everything I linked there too heh

I've been hearing a lot of good things about this from a movie website I visit. It looks like it'll be fun (In a super violent kind of way...).

I saw the preview for this a couple weeks ago. I'm definitely interested. Though "Superbad with super powers" doesn't help. I didn't really like Superbad.

See it seems nothing like that to me now so I have no idea how I ended up under that impression. After watching it and going "that's awesome" I realised what film it was and went "ohhhhhhh, so it won't suck then"
I'm a robot, because that just looked stupid.
Awww the awesome does not compute with captain kill joy the robot captain of the most boring galactic cruise liner ever to exist... I pitty you my automon friend. Maybe one day the joy of human emotion will warm that cold dark chest cavity where your oddly inefficient looking robot heart should be.

It would be funny if the movie came out before the comic is finished, which seems to be the course it has taken. It would also mean that Mark Millar is a fucking genius for selling his not-that-good unpublished comic to hollywood. And it also means that his upcoming project, a comic about not-Batman acting like not-joker will get the same treatment.
From the looks of the Comic-con clips I saw, this looks like a "Tarantino" take on Superheroes, following the comic to the word unlike wanted. I think Tarantino, with all his copycats, is a hack, whose directorial style is only obsessed with itself and useless for expressing anything of substance. Good thing the subject of this movie is also devoid of it.

Looks cool. It had enough weird concepts smashed together to make for an entertaining movie. I know nothing of the comic but it doesn't matter. If I wanted a deep story with emotional and dynamic characters, I wouldn't be looking at a comedy superhero movie. ;)
I didn't care for Superbad, but that was largely due to the fact that high-school "hijinks" movies stopped being interesting to me when I left high school. The only thing that reminded me of Superbad was the way the fat kid talked, and that they had a fat kid.

Do you hate Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain because it's not depressing enough?
I don't know, I loved the first trailer but I did not like the second one. I guess I'll try to watch it when it gets a dvd release but I'm not convinced right now.

I just find it funny that some one criticising Tarantino for being overly self obsessed took the time to let every one know his views of the lack of substance of a comic book film called "kick-ass"

I, for one, thought that was awesome and will probably see this in theaters. I'd take this over any fucking "not another" movie.
I think this look fantastic. Not good fantastic but I get to cram my face full of popcorn and unhinge for an hour and a half fantastic.

Oh I am really awaiting the movie, if only to see what the hell happens. Also, little girl dropping the C-bomb, how can anyone not love that?

I haven't seen Amelie, but I get what you're saying; I hate it to when people pretend misery is more than a part of human condition as well. But this movie is the exact opposite of what you think it is. A little girl gets shot in the chest midway through the movie.
I would also like to remind people that Hotcod is the only one who has ever made the "Superbad" connection. Its more Kill Bill than Superbad.

Ah fair enough, you are not in fact a new Hampshire kill joy after all! I also retract my joking flame bate as well :P I think we all know this film is not going to be a grate work of art but it's looking like it's going to be a fun few hours.
And ya i only brought up superbad because my uninformed vague impression of the film was that it was along those lines and that the trailers have show me to have been way way off the ball in that respect.

Strongly reminds me of Mystery Men, but without any superpowers at all, even lame ones. ("I shovel well. I shovel very well")
I liked that too, so I have hope for this.

Side-topic: I actually really liked super bad. But it was very much because I could relate to it so much. If your teens weren't anything like that, well I can understand why you'd not dig it.

I saw a preview for this a few days ago in front of another movie (I can't even recall which one, I think I've seen too many movies lately) and thought it looked funny. I'll definitely go see it when it hits theatres.
I also liked Superbad. I don't really get the hate for that film.

It was a comic for all of one issue when the movie rights were snatched up. There's only been 7 issues, and I think the movie has all 7 in it from what I can tell from the trailers. Not all that many primers for it.

So it can turn all sorts of not like the comic ala Wanted the Movie. Can people stop snatching up right to shit that's not complete. Better yet, stop selling them. If you like the premise, steal it and finish it out in whatever fucked up way you want.
Example. Oldboy has this guy who gets kidnapped, locked up for period of time, gets out and is on the hunt for answers.
If you are not going to touch all the incest, call that shit Answers and come up with whatever story you want once he gets out of jail. I mean you just know Will Smith wasn't going to be fucking his daughter in the movie. He too mainstream Hollywood.
Stupid Wanted movie. WHERE THE FUCK IS MY CGI SHITHEAD?
I know what the answer to this is...

I've always said that Nic Cage needs to stick to action-comedies, they are where he shines. This movie looks to be one of his best roles from what little I've seen so far, and it reminds me a lot of Raising Arizona as far as the zany, unrealistic aspects. That movie is hands down my favorite Nic Cage film, so my opinion is obviously biased.

Are you serious? The guy seems to be in three movies a year.
I personally don't think he's that great of an actor, but to each their own. Calling him under appreciated strikes me as odd.

It would help his cause for being appreciated if he didn't take so many shitty roles in shitty movies.

Well, that's kind of my point. People tend to forget how many genuinely good movies he's been in because he's also taken on bad roles as well. When he's given good material to work with, he tends to shine far more often than not.

Will they run into legal troubles for mentioning a main character looks like Batman?
No. They did for Mark Millar's new (unreleased) comic book, Nemesis, which was marketed as "What if Batman was the Joker?", which didn't go that well with DC legal. According to Millar, who claims to be on good terms with them, they just asked hm to chill it. The real can will come when the inevitable movie comes out, with this as its inevitable poster.

Can't see WB brass letting that go.
