You know, I really despise this time of year. Not just because my wallet takes a serious hit with all the solid game releases coming out, but because everything comes out in like a 3 week period. There's something in the ballpark of 70 game releases this week, and that doesn't count each version on the different platforms. Your local retailer can expect well over 150 different pieces of product this week.

As if that's not bad enough, there are almost 400 items coming out on DVD and Blu-Ray! I mean...seriously? F U.

To be fair, this one will be guns & roses (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/wii/wiimusic), as per usual with "Wii [noun]" games. But what's interesting is that those who are in favor of it, tend to have musical backgrounds and find Wii Music much truer to what music is over RB, GH, DK or what have you.

As someone else pointed out, Disgustipated is wrong about the new Rock Band guitars. The new strum bar is awesome, as it is quiet, but still gives tactile feedback (no more strumming in mashed potatoes), and the new fret buttons are also quieter and much easier to press. Overall, I was very impressed with the new Rock Band guitar, and would say it's the best feeling one yet.

The GF and I just bought a couch last night, kinda spur of the moment... no game purchasing for me for at least 2 weeks until I get paid again :( But I want Deadspace, Farcry 2 and probably Fable 2

Bought Fable 2...everything else like Star Ocean, Far Cry 2 and the new Crash game on PSP will be put on the Gamefly backlog...maybe Bioshock 3 also...Castlevania:OOE is going to have to wait for purchase. Which hurts...I always play the new Castlevania DS games, just no time...

I keep on saying that Fallout 3 can wait, since I'll have Far Cry 2 and Fable 2, but I know deep down that I'll buy Fallout 3 too, and leave Fable and Far Cry half finished probably. It's how I game.

All you need to do is follow a few simple steps:

1. Set up an account at Amazon.
2. Set up a wish list (or two or three...or five, like me) at Amazon.
3. Add any and every game/cd/movie/book/board game under the sun that you are interested in to it.
4. View the games by price.
5. Buy them when they're twenty bucks or less.

That's it! You'll have the benefit of extra content in older games, lower prices, patches already at the ready, AND the "hype train" will derail for all but the best games by six months to a year out from release. Also, you'll have plenty to play. There's a TON of great games out there that I've missed from the past. :)

The last $60 game I bought was CoD4. I might buy Gears full price, but doubtful.

Huh, cool. It's been a long time since I've seen a horror movie get such fantastic reviews (though it does seem kind of more like a drama with a vampire than a horror movie). I'll check it out as soon as it's released in San Francisco. Goddamn you, New York!

70 new games? SEVENTY. Just think about that number for a second. 7-0. I know a tiny fraction of those are worth anyone's time but come on! 70 games in one week? As for the DVD releases that's just out of control. Something has to give, really. You can't keep loading the 4th quarter of every year with media with the assumption that people only buy stuff in this 6 week period. Or maybe you can.

Sadly studies have shown that entertainment media, regardless of form, sells the most during the last quarter of the year. It's thanks to this we get this mess. It's only going to get worse to by the time we hit the end of November!

As for what I'm picking up it will be Dead Space (Xbox 360) (out at the end of this week here), Farcry 2 (PC) and Fable 2 (XBOx 360).

Because it's impossible to buy every game I want, I'll be able to buy the other games I want after the new year for cheaper. That's the con, for the companies anyway--I will buy whatever interests me most, but because of time and money, I'll be forced to wait and snag things after Xmas. If they were staggered over the year, I would have been able to buy more...but all at once? Impossible, even if I had the money.

I was perfectly happy just getting Fable 2 this week until today. I went out to see if I could find a copy of the My Japanese Coach (which I won't concider a game... it's educational!) and I saw that Spidey: Web Of Shadows and the new Castlevania game were available... heck, even Wii Music was there. I had to run from the store to keep myself from spending more money I don't have.

Can't agree more. It's just insane the amount of titles this time of year. But what makes it more insane this year than others is the amount of AAA titles all on top of one another. Are they all going to sell well? I'm really curious what sells less than expected. Maybe then we will see more staggering of the titles throughout the year.

The most annoying voice acting I've ever heard was Enchanted Arms.
Fortunately you could switch between English and Japanese voice acting, and the Japanese stuff with subtitles was much better.

I wonder if the amount of uproar from people about the lack of online co-op had them just slap a patch on that did the hot-seat co-op over the net. I wouldn't be surprised if the reason they dropped the online co-op at first was because they realized that the way they had implemented it (ie. this way) wasn't very good and then they had to find some kind of quick-fix to quell the uprising from the masses.

If they end up patching it again and put independent cameras, I'll bother playing co-op again. Otherwise, it can just sit there, unused.

It might be a bit better when you're out in the world at large and have room to move, but in towns or dungeons... well, it's a mess.

Somebody mentioned Bad Company earlier, and I agree that Fable 2 would have probably scored better with no co-op over half-assed co-op, the same way Bad Company would have probably scored better if they'd left out single player altogether.
Then again, I'm willing to bet co-op sold Fable 2 to a lot of people, so while it may have scored better, I don't think it would have sold so well.

I am really bummed about this. I want to game with ADDGirl - I really do. Her and I need to play some games together.

Then again she needs to ask me herself. :p

I would like to try co-op in a wide open area and see how it is. It's gamebreakingly bad in the towns and underground areas that I've been in, but I could see how it might work in a field or forest. It still sucks, but it might actually be somewhat playable.

We can always hope for some fixes and improvements via patches, but I for one will not hold my breath. I've been burned too many times in the past with promises of fixed content/features.
