Does this game have motion blurring for anyone else? Yeah, I'm playing on an LCD HDTV so there will be SOME blurring perhaps, but this is the first time I've noticed it this much. Other games don't seem to have it. At first I thought it would be an option I could turn off in the Options menu, like the trails in GTA games, but it wasn't.
I also don't think the sound is the greatest. It's weird sometimes. I'm still very early in the game, just wondering about stuff. I don't think the game is as beautiful as it's been made out to be, though it doesn't look terrible; it looks like an upgraded Fable basically. It did have me messing with my cables to make sure everything was plugged in right, with that weird motion blurring. I guess it could be my tv, but this is the first time I've noticed it.
EDIT: A quick Google shows I'm not crazy. At least not completely. Guess it's noticeable by some others. They call it a "blurry camera".
The game definitely has a "soft glow" about it, but that is entirely intentional. I believe the first game had that as well. I kind of like it as it gives it a unique look.

It's fine, but there are moments where the intentional blurriness is almost too much, though it's usually only noticable when I first start the game up and then I get acclimated to it.
The sound, on the other hand, just seems wonky. I noticed that there is some very faint music during the title screen (before you press A) and none at all during the little movie, but I've made my peace with the game now. I'd say it is just my crappy surround system except that the sound, even over my crappy system, is exquisite in Dead Space, so I'm thinking the fault is more one of Fable 2's than my own.
I'd like to say I've done much more but I've barely had a chance to touch the game in the last few days. I was planning on sinking some quality time into it tonight but I just got my copy of LBP, so I guess there goes my Fable 2 time for tonight.

The combat in this game is absolutely fantastic. This is how Action RPGs should play on consoles, and there absolutely needs to be a MMO that uses this kind of combat.
I'm liking the game a lot so far, but I haven't fallen immediately head over heels into it like I did for, say, Mass Effect or Bioshock. I'm at least 5-6 hours in, though, and I'm really enjoying it.
One of the couple downsides is the terrible menu system. What the hell is it with this generation and slow/badly designed menus? Besides that, I don't think I'm in a position to address the problems until I beat the game. Right now the relationship things seem pretty empty and largely unnecessary. I say that because it feels like the Sims. I feel more affection from the dog, but I would guess that's because I'm not expecting nuanced emotion from an animal.
At any rate, I'm enjoying the game so far, and it's a good start to the torrent of games coming up (Fallout 3, GoW2, Mirror's Edge, Prince of Persia, etc.)

Absolutely agreed. It makes the game seem ethereal and gives it that fantasy feel. Love it.

I don't know what's up with menu systems in this generation either. It's like everyone forgot how important a quick and easy-to-use menu system is. I also agree about the expression/relationship system. It just feels completely artificial to me. The numbers floating above NPCs heads, the complete disconnect between what my character does and the response I get...it's just odd. The dog, however, is a joy. I always praise him whenever he finds a hidden treasure or notifies me of a buried item, and if I have any treats handy I'll give him one of those as well. I wish other action-adventure series, such as Zelda, would implement a similarly-designed helping hand for the player. The dog is just badass. :)

Well, I can't instruct you without at least some sidequest spoilers :p
After the end of the game, you can buy Garth's tower in Brightwood. After buying it, go up to the very top floor, up the ladder, and sleep in the bed. Things will happen, I won't go into what. When you wake up, you'll be without scars or wrinkles. Save and quit. Now go back into the game, and you should remain young.

When I played this at work I played fairly randomly, with no real good/evil. I just randomly made decisions. I now have two play throughs going on, one being a pure evil Will user, the other a shiney good guy with a massive mace. The cut scenes still make my jaw drop, especially the opening sequence with the sparrow.
On the subject of gargoyles, I have found 12, I know where there is a thirteenth, but I can't shoot the bugger!
He's in the caves that lead to the old tomb/guild hall where Theresa is. I can see him, aim ay him and shoot but he won't die :(

The Conjurer, Chapter 1
So last night found my Hero at a crossroads. Known only as Conjurer to the citizens of Albion, the strangely marked man had been doing his part to stem the bandit and hobbe influx over the past few weeks. Married to a gypsy from a quaint village, he had at last fathered a baby boy and decided to work hard to afford a nice house in Bowerstone.
After toiling at the forge, at the chopping block, and in dank and dark corners of the world, Conjurer bought a nice, small house off of the beaten path within the city proper. Excited to share the great news with his family and to spend long-overdue time with his son, the Hero ran back to the gypsy village as fast as he could...
...only to find his wife Lisa was divorcing him. His son sent off to an orphanage before he'd even had a chance to really know him. Apparently, the idea that progress and comfort takes hard work - sacrifice from both parents - was a concept unknown to her. Our Hero had sent more than enough money home each day, had slaved for hours at mundane tasks, had risked his own life countless times to gather treasure and reknown. All so that he might move his family to a better place in this hardscrabble world.
Divorced. The gypsies hid their mild amusement behind offers of condolence. The Conjurer wasn't fooled. They silently mocked his hard work and desires for prosperity. They whispered false rumors in Lisa's ear over the weeks he was gone, leading her to think he was off gallavanting with maidens and eating in banquet halls.
Our Hero looked over the village he had grown up in with disgust. A village of friends and family no more. A village he despised.
The Conjurer may have spent his first years helping those who could not appreciate his efforts...but no longer. No, something had bent to breaking within this Hero. Something bitter had taken root deep within. Something had changed. The world of Albion would never be the same.

That's when I'd go into the center of the village, strike a heroic pose or two until everyone was gathered round and then unleash a high-level blade spell and slaughter the lot of them.
Or poison their water supply.

Kato I can sympathize with this. The women in this game are fickle indeed. I married Alex(the woman that you meet in the quest a ghost sends you on), and she's ALWAYS unhappy with me.
Despite the fact that I send money home every day, have bought her a house in Bowerstone, furnished it with high quality furniture. Visit with her everyday, and even bring her flowers and other gifts. EVERY day! And she STILL gets pissy when I'm away for more then half the day.
To put this in perspective, I treat this woman better then my real wife, spend MORE time with this woman in a game day then I get to with my real wife in a real work day, and my real wife is happy and sticks with me. My virtual wife however whines about where I've been, and how unhappy she is, despite the fact that I treat this virtual wife like gold.
Fuck this bitch, I've had enough, I'm tired of being treated like shit for trying to be good to her. Tonight I'm gonna go have an affair with every attractive strange woman I meet. I will cut her funding and get drunk and eat fine food off her severed allowance. Then she's getting lured to the temple of shadows, and I'm sacrificing her ungrateful ass. Then I'm living a happy adventurers life filled with grand quests, hot women, tons of gold, food, and fun. A happy ending indeed.

No, it's something else entirely. It's like my television has Noise Reduction cranked to the max, when it isn't. I though maybe my tv was shitting to bed, so I popped in another game. It looks crisp and great as usual. It's almost like I'm playing a blurry, non-HD game at times...almost like vaseline is smeared across the screen . Perhaps I need to sit further from the set or something. Or perhaps I got a wonky disc? I doubt that's possible.
Looking at online videos, pictures and reviews, the game should be gorgeous. Instead I think this is the ugliest 360 game I've played in a while. Not ugly, just not very much different than plopping Fable 1 into my 360 and playing via BC.
Very weird. I'm guessing it's just me since I don't see many others complaining about it.

To be honest I didn't think the graphics in Fable II were a huge leap ahead of the first Fable. In fact it was the reason why the beginning of the game felt underwhelming to me.
But then I started digging in, and found all the cool tweaks and refinements that went into the game, and realized how great it is and forgot about the average graphics.
Great game, just not great looking.

I have noticed that after I sink a bit of time into a game session, I either don't notice it or it goes away, but the first part of the game seemed very blurry in that regard.

Finished the main quest last night with my male, good, and physical character. Started my female, evil, will character this morning. Upon entering Bowerstone, Debbie the Housewife called me ugly and kicked my dog. Obviously this wasn't going to fly so she's now hanging on a spike in the Temple of Shadows. Her husband thinks my dog is awesome.
Has anyone else had any problems getting their female hero pregnant? After killing my bisexual gypsy wife to make way for a rich guy from Fairfax, I've had sex more than 10 times. On my male character it seems I have another kid if I'm not wearing at least 3 condoms yet this broad is nigh impregnable.

Disregard my previous comments about offing the virtual wife. Because I figured out how to keep her happy as can be even when I'm away for a long time. The secret? Expensive furniture.
I shit you not, after I loaded the house up with the best furniture she grew happier! Then I went out and made a crap load of money and invested in my rentals, and she was absolutely beside herself with joy.
Then I learned the "come hither" emote, and we started having sex all the friggen time. Seriously, my character and his wife are like bunny rabbits now!
Now that I don't have to spend any time cheering the woman up, I can focus on the fun stuff, like jobs and quests and stuff. :D

Is what you get worth hunting for Gargoyles? I'm not sure if I should inverst the time or not.
I'm not sure if it was touched on or not, but I'd like to register my wholehearted disagreement on this being an "ugly" game. Fable has a very distinct visual direction, and instead of going another way just for the sake of looking hyper-realistic (looking at you, GTA IV), they kept with it. It is extremely pretty. That's just my opinion, though.

I believe you're referring to the one that you get from the chest in the Guild Cave if you've played the flash games. That's not the hero doll they're referring to.

Picked this up over the weekend and did my longest gaming marathon in years. I haven't had this much fun in a game in a really long time.
One thing that got to me was the ending:
Played through as an evil bastard that loves his dog and family, so it was a pretty mixed bag - not sure if that has any effect. At the end, I chose to bring my dog and family back to life after shooting Lucien off the edge. Is that it? It played the credits, but I'm sure this can't be the end. One arrow to end the big boss? Spire still standing? I feel like I'm supposed to scale the spire and kill Theresa now.
I've also run into a lot of little issues (A button icon showing but not registering, mainly for inspecting property) but the biggest and most interesting was:
After returning from the aging quest to find Reaver having his picture taken, I waited until he shot the photographer and then just stood there. 5 minutes later I gave up and restarted, but I wondered if I could stop the shooting this time. So now as the cut scene plays I put myself between the two. He fires his gun, nothing happens. Everyones just kinda standing there staring ahead! Third time worked, but very bizarre.
Oh and also:
I married Lady Grey! Two games I've married her now, haha. It doesn't seem like she'll ever stop loving me, the bar doesn't move a bit. Only problem is she was talking to some random guy late one night. Figuring something was going down, I shot the guy in the face. Now Lady Grey runs around the town and won't go near me, but she still loves me like the day we met.
Currently in the process of trying to buy all of Bowerstone, so I can mark the whole place up and reduce it to poverty :D

I'm just waiting for someone with a wife/gf who says they take better care of their virtual wife/gf better than them :p
Shit, mine already has! It was a joke, but there was seeds of truth in her words. Of course I don't have the free tie to spend with my wife that my character does for his, so there's that.
Right after my last post my wife started becoming unhappy at my absence. With the bridge out I couldn't get back to her and by the time I did I was divorced. I've got a new wife now though.
To be honest? I don't really like Alex. She's blond, needy, and kind of whiny. I'd like a voluptuous brunette, who's happy and easy going... kinda like a virtual version of my real wife... Ah fuck it nothing beats the real thing. :D

Alex seems fine for me. She wants sex all the time, but rarely becomes unhappy because of it. I gave her an allowance of 200g per day and upgraded all the furniture in the house to the best it can be though, so maybe that helped.
I prefer my second wife though. Former aristocrat now living in a gypsy caravan. It was all I could afford at the time, although now I own something like half of Bowerstone.

Fast travel to Brightwood Tower, and use the gate there to get to Wraithmarsh. The gate lands you really close to the door; you won't have to fight anything on the way there.

I spent a few hours (real hours) wandering around Bowerstone, working and earning a ton of cash. I then bought two business, some nice clothes, and a new hair cut and dye job. Everyone loves the new look, and the cat calls and comments from passersby are great! There's so much to see and do in this game, and I've only been to the first two areas!! I can see myself sinking many hours into this game and replaying it several times.
I returned to Bower Lake with the intention of playing for another 30 minutes, and two hours later I was still playing. I was exploring the countryside when I realized that I was being followed. My stalker turned out to be Ben the Gypsy, the first gay man I've encountered. He was in love with me, and told me that we needed a ring. I gave him one, and after buying Thag's house, we are married!
I'm surprised at how dirty this game is. My husband propositioned me in no uncertain terms, and the sex scene, though blacked out, was raunchy and hilarious. Apparently my beard tickles. ;) We had protected sex. Although I know there's no risk of pregnancy (two males), I can't take the chance that my new husband might be a disease-carrying whore. I set him up with a nice cash flow, and tomorrow I'm off to continue my adventures!

Sure they are effective (by the end I was dropping most foes with a one rifle headshot) it just seemed clumsy getting the manual aim ability to kick in. There were times when it worked and it worked well, dropping multiple bandits back to back with headshots but other times I was cursing trying to enter the aim mode, or I was in the aim mode surrounded by targets and the autoaim wouldn't pick any of them up.
I ended up using a master matchlock rifle most of the latter part game, I found it more satisfying than even a legendary pistol.

So a friend of mine has pointed out an exploit for making a lot of gold.
The money from the rent of properties, or income from buisinesses, is calculated based on real time passed, so you're making money even when not playing. If you set your dashboard clock forwards a few years and load your save you will gain years of accumulated gold
I've tried this on my completed save, on my second play through I'm not using it.

I decided before playing this game that I would accept my choices and not reload previous saves or anything like that. It has really driven home the essence of choice that Lionhead seems to have intended.
For example, I had two quest options, one being good and one being evil. For the good one, I was supposed to help a farm that was being raided by bandits. When I tried to travel there, it informed me that I couldn't because I hadn't already been there. So I chose to do the evil one, which wanted me to help the bandits raid the farm. I assumed that I could pretend to do the quest, but turn around and just kill the bandits. Nope, my attack was disabled. So now I had this quest active, and when I followed the trail to the farm, the "good" people were attacking me. Knowing that I cannot just disable this quest, I went ahead and slaughtered the farmer and his helpers. To this day (currently 10 years later), people still show their disgust at my actions. I'm a completely good and honest person, however I made this big mistake and I am constantly reminded of it.
"Murderer!", they call me. Some hero...

You know, the one choice that actually felt pretty pivotal to me was the Dark Seal quest. I say this because, as gamers, we're (usually) very much attached to the appearance of our character, and it actually became a question of either doing the "right thing" (assuming you're playing a good guy) versus doing the selfish thing. It didn't feel detached like most so-called important decisions in games.
The ending pissed me off quite a bit as well (right when Lucien says that your family is dead), but the Sacrifice choice felt necessary for the way I tend to play these things. Frankly, I felt more empty from losing my dog than the Sim family.

This is my biggest problem. There really isn't any challenge in the fights. Give me some damage/hitpoint/ruleset options.
I honestly don't even know what happens when you "die". I've not experienced it yet. The closest I've come to running out of HP was when a pair of Balverines knocked me into a rock and kept beating on me, making attacking impossible.
Eventually I remembered I could just jump away (First time I ever had to use that).
It's my biggest problem with the game right now. I feel like a God, not a hero.

I understand the point, it's just that you get things like Zoom and it's later skill which are useless in general. Why aim for the head when I can kill them faster with 3 shots instead of the 1.
I think it's great that I spend 90% of my time not fighting and loving it, but I would prefer the combat just be left out entirely if it's going to be as boring as it it. It detracts from my Real Estate ventures and Treasure Hunting. :)

I don't necessarily consider it a bad thing. Peter has said the same exact thing before, and it bears through with the game. After all, your character is...well, the Hero, so it fits in a sense.
It just feels odd going through a full game and not having a sense of peril at all.

The more I play this game, the less I think it should be considered an RPG. In a lot of ways it bears more in common with games like Animal Crossing and The Sims than it does games like Oblivion and Mass Effect. It's part RPG, but it's so much more. I see a lot of people going into it with the expectation of it being a more pure RPG and playing it that way and really being disappointed with what they're finding because they're missing so much of the content and even if they do see that content they don't want to mess with it because they don't see it as part of the "real" game.

Although I played through a lot of the Sims aspect of the game by buying up houses, moving furniture around (seriously), managing my family, etc., that aspect of the game is pretty shallow. All that extra content isn't what's bringing me back to the game.
If Lionhead was trying to get us attached to the family, having the same canned 5 lines isn't the way to do it. I got way more tied up with my dog because (a) it doesn't have to talk and (b) it was helping me the entire game.
The storyline and the quest was what kept me playing as the family stuff felt like an obligation to the character rather than something that came naturally. Now, I liked buying up property because, hey, who doesn't love collecting rent?
I liked the game as a whole, but I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting from the game. All in all, I guess I would say that the game felt light due to the brevity of the main quest (although this game isn't alone at all in that regards) and the rather straightforward and shallow (even in game terms) storyline.
But, hey, maybe we'll find out that Teresa ain't so nice considering the way she left at the end of the game.

Sure you have a hand in effecting the narrative in some sense, but the story is still set in stone. What happens is going to happen, and that's the part of the game that feels shallower than even a crappy Forgotten Realms novel.

The best directions I can give is go to the clock tower in the middle of Bowerstone market and face the pub. The Blacksmith shop should be to your right. See that ally to the right of the pub? Head straight toward the pub from the clock tower down the ally street. Keep heading straight until you see a tailer sign to your right and the barber shop should be across the street. It has a barber poll attached to the building, it's hard to miss.

I'll spoiler tag this, since it is gonna be long ;)
First off, it sucks playing a henchman and not your hero. Old news, wah wah. Moving on. It has been mentioned already, but it is worth noting that you are forced to share the same camera. Not only that, but the camera seems lagged.
Lag, that's another problem. Throughout the game, there were periods where voice chat went silent. After the lag cleared, I was flooded with 2 minutes of continuous dialog. It buffered up everything my friend had said, and then spit it all back at me with out pauses. At the same time, I can hear his real-time voice trying to find out why I'm not talking. Not to mention that the voice quality is not that great. You are better off doing Private Chat. Far better.
More on lag....while I was fighting some bandits with my friend, my character became unresponsive. After a little bit, he started moving again, but not performing the commands I was attempting. Also, my friend was moving in erratic patterns. After a couple minutes, I get bombarded with the buffered voice bomb again, and I hear him commenting on how I'm just standing still while he was fighting all the enemies. After everything caught up to real-time again, he told me that my character sat still for the whole fight, and then played out my entire fight sequence once the killing had already completed.
My friend was playing a super-good character, like myself, so I didn't run into any morality issues. However, I have read that if your partner was to do something really bad, your character will take the Evil points hit as well. This could be seen as a feature, I suppose. Guilty by association, and whatnot. Still, since you are only using a temporary henchman character, why should you have to take the morality points back to your main hero??
I may not have described it well enough, but it was godawful to play. Overall, it is obvious that the game was not designed with co-op in mind. It is thrown together as an afterthought. Which is a shame, because they told us years ago that Fable 2 would have co-op......which it kinda does.....I guess.

I may not have described it well enough, but it was godawful to play. Overall, it is obvious that the game was not designed with co-op in mind. It is thrown together as an afterthought. Which is a shame, because they told us years ago that Fable 2 would have co-op......which it kinda does.....I guess.
The henchman thing is what I like. Like the tiny robot from Jet Force Gemini on the N64.
What you described is just depressing though. I was hoping for better. Guess I shelf the game for a few patches.

Care to elaborate? I've seen a lot of "Zomg it's bad and buggy" without any real specifics. It is basically the camera. It doesn't pull out far enough, can limit your travel and the environment doesn't go transparent when between the camera and the players.

I've only found one gay man so far - a guy in the gypsy camp who I married simply because he's gay and in love with me. I didn't have to do any work to get him to love me either.

There are plenty of gay characters and some of the straight ones will even turn if you hit on them enough. But they are all lowerclass. Wait until you get to Bloodstone. The place is trashy, half the people are prostituits (of every possible variety), and everyone is horny all the time.

I spent over an hour running around Brightwood, killing bandits and exploring old ruins for loot. I'm loving this game!
I do have one wish though. I wish that the region screens would give the total number of dig and dive spots. They give the total number of Gargoyles and silver keys, but I want to know how many dive and dig spots there are as well. The completionist in me demands it!

I have to say that Will skills are overpowered. I grabbed level 4 Inferno or whatever the fire is on my mainly melee guy just because I had a ton of Will experience. Holy crap. Throw down a Time power then cast the Inferno and it just destroys everything, and there is one more level that does about twice the damage.
I'm going to start a mainly Will character right now and see how much different it is.

Hm, I don't think they're overpowered at all, but then again I don't have Inferno. My level 4 Shock even takes a few casts, assuming I can get it off before I eat it. Of course, it depends on who you fight, too, since some enemies are far more powerful than others.
Something I find funny: it seems crotch shots are almost as deadly as head shots. And shooting a White Balverine in the head right before he jumps you is awesome.

Peter Molyneux is a sadistic man.
I started a quest in which a farmer asked me to bring a notorious bandit to justice because the ne'er-do-well murdered his wife and kids a while ago. My dog, "Biscuits," and I set off into the woods and proceeded to tear through bandit ambushes. I finally got up to the bandit leader and after an awesome fight punctuated by slo-mo hammer hits from my Hammerthyst, he surrendered.
At this point, Fable II offered me a choice, kill the bandit right then, or bring him back to the farmer so he could have his vengeance. Now, I knew that bringing him back to the farmer would be an evil act in real life since it would encourage vengeance rather than justice, but I figured the game wasn't that sophisticated. I assumed the game would just judge my killing the bandit out in the woods to be the greater evil since it could be seen as "stealing" justice from the farmer.
Since I'm playing an incredibly corrupt and evil Hero, I crushed the bandit and farted on his body. I returned to the farmer to gloat over snatching his closure. The quest ends and the damn farmer decides to come to terms with his grief thanks to my noble act of justice and the game "rewards" me with 30 points of good! Dammit!
I was so angry, I immediately fast traveled to Oakvale and went on a killing spree. Life is cheap in Albion and at 1000 gold per murder, I'll vent my frustration by drinking my fill of innocent blood!
I can't believe Molyneux wasn't lying when he said the morality in this game would be harder to discern.

I have played co-op for a few nights now. The only issues I had with it was 1. the camera is a pain. 2. The hero and henchman are tethered together and it is frustrating when you can only go half the distance of the screen away from each other.
I experienced none of the lag Mach had. Then again, it may be the proximity of the person you are playing with. Aggort and I are only 20 some miles away and Klunka is is the same quadrant of the US of me. Clanner, I would be up for giving it a go at some time, if for no other reason than to let you see how it is.I found it a lot of fun personally, so I would suggest trying it before writing it off.

Finished up my entire log of quests besides the repeatables, and sat down to finally finish the game on my "good" character. Rough stuff.
Before I beat the game, I wandered back to the farm to see if my wife was unbugged. Nope. Still vanished in thin air. But my daughter was responsive! She introduced herself and was nice. Made me happy, but at least she wasn't just frozen, as usual. With this feeling of joy, I go to beat the game.
........what a bastard. I would have chosen love, but my wife was still gone, and I felt she'd be bugged and I'd just lose my daughter again. So I chose Sacrifice and took the burden.
After some time wandering around, I remarried to the Bowerstone Jeweler (because I'd been boinking her every time the shops were closed when I went there. Mainly to kill time. I didn't say I was perfect). I moved into her house (already owned it. Didn't feel bad about evicting her since she would still live there. Plus, I couldn't move back into the Homestead (BUG)), and we had a son. I don't know if he'll ever grow up, though. But this woman actually seemed to care more, as opposed to Natalie the Barmaid (I needed to see what was behind that door, dammit). She gives me gifts every time I see her (last one gave me NOTHING), and I like the attention.
Unfortunately, I do miss the dog. Especially since I can't finish the Archeologist quests now. Probably can't find all of the silver keys, either since one's probably buried somewhere that I missed. All I'm doing now is waiting for my million gold to buy Fairfax and see what's there, then my hero will retire until there's some extra content. Molyneux IS sadistic, though. Even when you do the right thing, it changes everything. I miss my dog and my daughter.
Of course, I started a new character last night... Evil Will user (seems to be the thing to do). I played her for a few hours, and she's already gotten horns and corrupted skin. All because someone kicked my Dog in Old Town and I misfired. And then I did it again. And again. And then someone wouldn't give me a present unless they thought I was ugly, they had to go. And I wanted to test out the wheel at the Shadow Temple.... And the tattooist wouldn't give me anything when I extorted him......

I had similar problems with my "main" family. And it turned out to be a blessing. Because, holy shit my daughter in Bowerstone was annoying as hell. "Daddy, DADDY!" following me around the zone constantly, unable to shut her mouth for two seconds without a childish English drawl spilling from her yapper. But I do feel you on the dog thing as well, I feel like I made the wrong choice in losing him. Replaying as Evil now, planning to keep my dog at the end.
Also, is it just me, or is it hard as hell to sacrifice people at the Temple of Shadows? Half the time I bring some sucker there, I get them in the circle, pull the lever, and they run out of the circle screaming before the wheel finishes spinning. What's the deal there? Then they just run around screaming for their life, I can't calm them down, and I either have to leave the zone or just kill them out of spite, which doesn't net me my Loyalty points.

Depends, you lose speed and your exp mulitplier far more easily if you are a will user. And against trolls....ugh, brutal. It's way easier to be a skill based player and gun his weak points to take him down quick (needed to meet the times in the tournament). I also died a number of times trying to charge up to level 4 or 5 spells when getting just mobbed.

I found that setting the Slow Time spell to the first 3 spots helped me out a bunch for mobs. Rank 1 gives me enough time to cast Rank 3, which gives me plenty of time to cast Rank 5 of whatever I feel is necessary. Vortex is fun.
But that aside, I went back in with my good guy and got at least some happy news for once.
Not enough money to buy Fairfax, but I did find a happy surprise. Went to Bloodstone to buy some furniture (read: bookshelves. Houses have a lot of bookshelves for some reason) and got an alert that my family had a gift, as usual. That's about 5 gifts in a few hours as opposed to 0 from the last one. When I returned from Bloodstone, I discovered that my baby had grown into a child. So for future reference, you can remarry and have kids and they won't remain babies forever.
On the downside, I gave him a toy sword and I got a notice about a "Family Emergency" and found out he wandered into the Hobbe Cave to be an adventurer "like daddy." Fantastic. Went in to save him, killed many a hobbe (reiterate: Vortex is fun!) and got him to the exit, where I clicked on the ladder to exit and take my boy home and-- lockup. Game freezes at the exit.
....... Will try again tomorrow.
Going to restart the evil chick. It's easier to buy stuff when people like you. And when a tenant has an unfortunate accident involving being taken on a sightseeing tour of certain hazardous places, it affects the building's value negatively forever. Plus, I owe the guards around 14k gold. And I just barely got to Oakfield.

Nice. I got up to 39 gargoyles killed on my first character. I found them not too bad, as you know there's some in certain areas just by the look (buildings, ruins, rock outcroppings) and then you just listen for a voice insulting you. ;)
It should be noted that you have to at least have some skill in....accuracy? The one that lets you aim your gun. Otherwise you can't hit the gargoyles and you won't even hear them laughing at you. Playing as a will user for the first few hours, it drove me nuts trying to use a spell or anything on the first gargoyle I found, and nothing would touch it.

Since enemies respawn in certain zones, and switching off techniques in the midst of battle is so darned fun, I don't understand why everyone doesn't always just max everything out eventually. I know I plan to do so.

I think Physique is the only characteristic that directly changes your Hero's appearance, correct? I know using a lot of magic will eventually make you get glowing lines all over you, and of course evil and good will change you, but Physique is the only experience-based trait that will instantly morph your avatar.
Pumping up the primary skillsets of melee combat, ranged combat, and whatever spell you want shouldn't visually change you. After all, you can always buy unlimited experience potions.

Skill abilities will make your avatar taller, and the Strength ones make you beefier. Unfortunately it seems like the beefiness is much more noticeable than the tallness, so I too have a female fighter who's primarily skill and will, but still looks all chunky just from me giving her more health and the combo melee attacks.

It kind of goes back to the idea of the game. The whole premise of Fable is that the way you play the game effects the game itself. In the original game these effects were almost wholly confined to the hero, so a lot of emphasis was placed on morphing the way your character looked. Skill and will also have visual effects on you. Skill makes you taller, and will makes the glowing lines appear. Both are based on how much you level up, just like with strength.

Again, it kind of goes back to the original game. In Fable 1 ranged weapons were bows and crossbows. So the idea of what someone skilled in ranged weapons would look like was kind of like a elf-like, tall and lanky. Hence the reason you get taller for using ranged weapons more.

It can sometimes be found on at the sellers and is most likely to pop up in Bloodstone rather than Bowerstone. There are a few chests that give them out and I know for a fact that the 40th gargoyle chest gives you one. As for augmentable weapons, if you've made it to Westclift you should be able to purchase one. I know I had my Ghoul and augmentable weapon by the time I did the crucible for the first time.

Physique and Accuracy. We all know what Physique does, but what a lot of people don't realize is that Accuracy makes your character taller, and gives him/her a bit wider shoulders, from what I can tell. My first character has maxed out everything but Physique now, but my evil character has maxed out everything except Physique and Accuracy. There is a splash screen that says you must hit it's nerves when they are exposed. I am guessing there isn't any melee troll killing in this one. I rather enjoyed having to quick-roll behind a troll for maximum damage in the previous game. I wonder why it changed...

I own nearly everything in both bowerstone, Oakvake and the place with the arena. I make 5k to 7k every 5 min and can't wait to see how much I will have when I turn the game on tonight. I have never messed with the amounts the stores charge so my corruption/purity is mostly neutral.
A quick rant on on what the coop camera needs:
Bare minimum:
Camera pull back distance increased 4 - 5 times,
Objects between the camera and the players or NPCs go transparent,
Host/Player 1 has priority at camera boundary to pull the guest player along and/or move the camera when focus is stuck on host.
Ultimately:
All the above, Bare minimum, for couch co-op and the ability to rotate the camera instead of just a reset,
Online co-op players are not tied together in any way other than being in the same loaded area,
I play couch co-op with my kids and online with friends. My four year old does rather well considering how hard it is for her to walk in a strait line. She does not get to frustrated until the environment and the camera makes it so she can't see where she is at. If I tried playing with my three year old like she wants, I would need to be able to drag her around with the camera boundary. These are things that most games with a shared camera have done for along time and I expected a AAA title to have it. I love playing games with the family. But the current camera would drive the wife crazy.
My 12 year son and I were playing when I jumped off a bridge. The fall was farther away from each other than the camera could handle. It broke the shared view and targeted me as player one but would not allow any movement since the boundary and camera position could not be overridden. We had to fast travel to get unstuck before the beetles killed him. (I was told today that you can warp to player one with the back button)
As for online; There is no reason for the camera to be tied to both players in this game, day and age. The orbs seem do it fine. Why not one guest? If you do have a need to bind the players to a distance, which should be farther apart than it is (see Bare minimum above), each player on each system should have their own camera.

It's even more heartbreaking when you consider that Molyneux said Lionhead experimented with separate cameras for the online co-op, but felt that it was too insular and didn't encourage working together enough.

I wish this game had some sort of feature wherein we could share images of our heroes. It's obviously feasible technologically. It's a shame that we can't do this, let alone join co-op games as our own character. :(

I wish more games where you could create and decorate your characters would do that. I'm glad Rock Band 2 finally does, and I guess Spore does, but Fable is another game where I really want to show off my hero to friends. Maybe Fallout 3, too.

Alright, I'm getting a little pissed off. I married a second guy (a monk, haha) and I bought a house for us. We couldn't have sex in the damn bed! The only option was to sleep. I slept and then we still couldn't have sex! I reloaded and we couldn't have sex!
I gave up and bought a second house, and now when I choose "Have sex" I actually sleep! What the fuck?!?!?!?!? This is ridiculous. This guy is following me around begging for sex, he is becoming unhappy, and these fucking bugs are starting to piss me off. For being in development this long, this kind of shit is simply unacceptable.

The dread pirate cave is around to the side of the docks. But the limited edition treasure is in the water at the end of the middle pier.

There is a splash screen that says you must hit it's nerves when they are exposed. I am guessing there isn't any melee troll killing in this one. I rather enjoyed having to quick-roll behind a troll for maximum damage in the previous game. I wonder why it changed...
To screw over strength and will users apparently. It's far easier to smoke a troll when you're skill based. I'm still scratching my head at that design decision, unless we're all missing something.

My tactic for trolls is time slow, which I have up to level 5 and my master flintlock pistol. I can run rings around them and just pick off the weak points at will.

Skill is by far the most favored tree in the game. The gargoyles require it, the trolls require it, it speeds up tough fights considerably, and I have yet to figure out what my "Brutal Styles" actually do. Flourish seems to be alright, but it still gets blocked even though it's not supposed to. That and more and more enemies I fight immediately fire off a fairly damaging knockback as soon as I charge a flourish.
Will has it's uses, but it's mostly just to compliment my Skill, that and killing masses of incredibly weak bugs.
Btw, why the hell can't I switch my Melee/ranged attack to left trigger/right trigger? When will console games let me switch my controls around? :(

Since I have yet to figure out how to do the (awesomely cool) spoiler thingy, I am going to have to be deliberately vague... But still spoilery, so don't read thing unless you have finished.
But I was wondering if I am the only one who has finished the game hating another character far more than I hate the main antagonist? The two events in the game that took me by surprise and really pissed me off weren't things that the main anatagonist did to me, but were in fact done by someone else. I think that Lionhead tried really hard to play with our emotions, and that they succeeded reasonably well with their first attempt, but the later ones were fairly predictable. Where they got me was with the really unpredictable/random ones that occur near the end of the game.
Also, am I the only one that sees the ending as being open to either a direct sequel or DLC dealing with the fate of all the 'Heroes' introduced in the game?

Spoiler text is achieved by using square brackets [ & ] with spoiler. So (spoiler)Spoiler text here (/spoiler) but with square brackets.
In answer to your questions, I totally hated Reaver and wanted to kill him.
I think that the ending is open to dealing with Theresa, as her closing line of "The Spire is mine!" seemed pretty nasty. An expansion or DLC or even a sequel dealing with Samarkand (?), the place Garth and reaver went off to, or even the Northern Monks area that Hammer headed to, would be great.

Agreed. They also seem to imply that EVERYTHING, from Lucien to you, were being manipulated by Theresa the whole time... Lucien makes a comment about doing what she told him to or something. She and Reaver seem to have been set up as antagonists for Good Hero, whereas Hammer and Garth seem like they would oppose Evil Hero. Seems a little heavy for DLC... But the turnaround on Fable is too long for direct sequels: I didn't get half of the references to the first game.

That happened to me: my first wife was receiving a 15 gold per day allowance (she only wanted 5 per day) and I had just left the village after sexing her up. I then go to Bowerstone to work hard at the anvil to buy a new house in the big city. Buy the house, fast travel back to the gypsy village and she's divorcing me.

I sexed up my wife, then turned and asked for more. She gave me some excuse about having a headache or something right as some other tramp walked up. So I asked that chick to sex me up a little and my wife got all pissed off and ran to the bar. Being an honorable guy, I sexed up the tramp like I said I would (gave my baby some chocolate to shut her up for a few minutes).
After I was done, I felt a little guilty so I killed the tramp and left her on the floor of my bedroom, and headed off to the bar to find my wife and tell her to get back to the house and clean that crap up. She was a little miffed, and wouldn't take a present from me until I danced a little jig.
Not sure what else I can do to this chick that would get her to divorce me. I mean, she was barely pissed when I found her at the bar. We'll see what happens when she finds the dead skank in our bedroom though. Maybe that'll push her over the edge?

Well, I've got 5(6 if you count the dead one) wives and I had two bunking in the same zone. Not gonna say specifics for spoilers sake. So I come back to visit one of them and notice them sitting there yelling at each-other with both my children (one from each mother) standing right next to them.
I thought "Well, I'm getting divorced..." except, they didn't. I walked up to both, gave them the "Come back to my place" expression and that solved the problem. All three of us had a good time. They both took a 15 something hate hit then a 30 something love hit. Then the one went back to her house and they are both perfectly happy.

Where they got me was with the really unpredictable/random ones that occur near the end of the game.
Also, am I the only one that sees the ending as being open to either a direct sequel or DLC dealing with the fate of all the 'Heroes' introduced in the game?
I wanted to nail that bastard as soon as he started killing innocents (yes, I'm playing a good/pure character). I still want to kill him. I am praying that Lionhead gives me the opportunity. In fact, it's the only thing that I want to do with the remainder of the game - everything else has lost its savor. Lucien was anti-climactic. But that scumbag... I want to nail the little bitch.

I like Reaver. Hammer on the other hand I wanted to kill. I still want to kill her actually. In fact I'd be willing to pay for a piece of DLC that lets me kill her.
I found it annoying how after she left the monastery she bashed religion every other line of dialog. Seriously, I get it. You feel like it's a waste of time and you're mad your dad's dead. SHUT THE FUCK UP. I wanted to high five Garth though when he told her off about it.

I wasn't too pissed at Reaver after he sucked my life out of me, but when he killed Barnum, I turned the safety off and let loose. Fucking invincible quest NPCs... I would have given up on the main quest if it meant I could kill that bastard.

Ah, is that why everyone else hates him? I chose to have them suck the woman's life out. Even though I was playing a good character. Sacrificing one for the good of the many and all that, so I had forgotten he tried to trick you.
Plus I could totally see myself acting like he does, minus the murder of course.

I did end up marrying Lady Gray. We moved into Reavers house and had two kids. She loves me, but she never gives me presents :( And though I'm a completely evil bastard, I can't bring myself to cheat on her..
As for the trolls, I found it took too much time to kill them with my gun. As soon as they show tendrils, I hit a level 4 slow time and then a level 5 fire-blast-thing. Two hits and they're down!
Still, can't get enough of this game. Can't be bothered with the keys and gargoyles, I'm having too much fun getting the world to hate me :D

The hell kind of gun are you using? I hip shot trolls to death, with a dinky Pistol no less. Single shot takes out tendrils. A couple shots for banshees too.

Can't remember off the top of my head, some sort of master rifle. I have my Skill and Will maxed. No idea if it's because I used Will throughout the game but my fire spell will kill most anything in one hit, while my gun seems weak as piss.
Still, the technique got me 8/8 in the crucible, so I'm not complaining :D

I found Turret/Clockwork rifles to be completely useless. Flintlock is just better.
I'm also not knocking your Will approach. Just wondering why it took more than a single hit to kill a tendril is all.

I'd like to thank you gentlemen. You've definitely boosted my spirits and made me realize I'm not playing enough Fable. Stupid real life quest interfering with that of my hero's.
Can't wait to turn it on. I haven't played since Saturday and I own four stores in Bowerstone including the blacksmith. I marked up the prices to 20% so I know my purity is getting a hit as well. Shame! :D Hope the prostitute I accidentally proposed to hasn't ended our engagement. We were destined to be betrothed.
You are welcome good sir!

It took me a while, but I found out that you don't get the rapid fire benefit from turrent/clockwork firearms unless you go into aim mode. My turret pistol can rock your world.

Pretty solid game so far until I decided i was done playing for the night and dropped to the dashboard on the loading screens. When I hit Yes to quit to dashboard in the background it was saving... now save game won't load and it just freezes. damn 1 save slot games.
don't think i'll be coming back to this one for awhile. I was just about to recruit the 3rd hero too.

Is there a way to add furniture to a house, or do you just need a house that already has the type you want to add? I'm well on my way to becoming a virtual Johan (two kids thus far) and I want to give the little guys a bed...but I can't add a child's bed to my house in Oakfield. Do I just need to buy a bigger house, or am I missing a "add furniture" button?

Buy furniture at a furniture store, and then enter redecorate mode at the house you want to put it in.

I've got two kids beds sitting in my inventory, but I can't place them in the house even in redecorate mode...
I'm thinking I might have to buy a bigger boat... :D

I can fire off six shots, and reload, with a clockwork in the time it takes to fire one shot and reload with a flintlock. There is a reason that clockwork guns are the most expensive.

I was using the hell out of clockwork guns (and guns in general after the first crossbow), then decided to splurge on a master repeater crossbow. Holy hell I love this thing! It fires fast, reloads quick enough, and knocks the piss out of enemies.

Well, if you want to mash Y 5-6 times for the same damage I get for a single button press, you're more than welcome to. :D

Master Repeater Crossbow with the Ghoul enchant. Pretty awesome and has almost removed any need for potions except for emergencies.

The thing that sucks is that you need pre existing furniture to replace with the nicer furniture you buy. Yes, that's right, you can only upgrade what you already have.
Need more beds for the little ones? Buy a house that house that has more beds in it.

Personally, from what I've experienced, do NOT move your family into the Homestead. It's very bugged, and my new family is nicer living in town.

It worked just fine for several of my wives. The trick it to take them to it before hand and listen to their responses. Some will like it, some wont. Also check to make sure they don't "Dislike" the area.
About the only problem I had is that the child/wife spawn on top of each other. Making targeting a problem.
