Team Fortress 2 WAR Update: A Word From the Demoman and the Soldier

These two gentlemen have an announcement for you.

Gentlemen, I have NO IDEA what this weapon is. I don't even know if I'll WANT it, but BY GOD, I know what's IMPORTANT, and it's that WE get it and the DEMOMAN DOES NOT.

And then the Demoman chimes in:

Lads! Warriors! DEMOMEN! As I look out at ye with me tear-stained eye, I see the BEST BLOODY CLASS on the battlefield! No other class can deny it. They cannot stand against us man to man. Oh no. So they wheedle and deceive their way into our confidence, just to drive a shovel straight into our great, trustin' Achilles bloody hearts.

THIS WEEK, lads, we have been granted the opportunity for revenge—against our crew-cutted betrayer, against Brutus Benedict Arnold Judas Bloody Iscariot himself: the SOLDIER! Every Soldier who dies by a Demoman’s hand will be noted in the annals of war. And at the END of this week, when the smoke clears and the dead are tallied, it will be the Demomen who emerge as the most LETHAL BLOODY KILLERS the Soldier’s ever made the great mistake of crossin'!

Aside from the regular addition of achievements and weapons, this update includes an extra "Super-secret" weapon that can only be awarded to one side.

Soldier deaths at the hands of Demomen and vice versa are going to be logged over the course of the upcoming week with the results being viewable online to everyone... and whichever side racks up the most kills will be awarded the exclusive weapon.

Since I'll get a lot of use out of either secret weapon, I think over then next week I'll play whatever class is behind in the kill score. It'll be more interesting to have a neck and neck race rather than a blowout.

I am becoming convinced that the rest of Valve is just a money-making front so that they can have fun with TF2.

Just look at the evidence. They spent ten years pouring time and resources into the development, then it gets released as a great deal in the Orange Box. They continue to sell it at the beyond bargain price of $20, sometimes dropping the price to as little as $2.49. They provide consistent, high quality. and completely free updates containing new maps, weapons, modes, and other bonuses that have expanded the game's content practically ten-fold. On top of that they've made comics, fake ads, and humorous videos building up a huge backstory that, while awesome, was never necessary.

I don't know the sales numbers behind TF2, but it really seems sometimes that they give a lot more than they get from this game.
