A demo of Sega and Platinum Games' upcoming action game Bayonetta is now available on Xbox Live, and should be up on PSN tomorrow. The demo clocks in at about 770 MB, and it the same demo which has been available in Japan for a couple months.

Bayonetta will be released in North America on January 5.

It's up on the Euro PSN now, it'll be up on the US PSN later today, not tomorrow. ;)

Sweet, I'll grab both versions to see the difference for myself. I've just played the 360 Japanese demo.

Pssh, like anyone wants to play a muddy-textured, low-framerate port on the PS3 anyways.

Yeah, I'll be downloading both to see what all the hoopla is about.

The demo is fun, but damn the Japanese still don't know how to make the camera work in a 3rd person game.

I got the demo, and the game is as cool as that screenshot would suggest.

In case you weren't aware, Bayonetta has no clothes. Those things on her which look like clothes? Just her hair. And after a particularly long combo, she's kind of...bare. I love the Japanese.

This game is crazy as hell...and it's fun. But for me, it was extremely challenging only because it's hard to make out what's going on. Reminds me a lot of Otogi which is a good thing.

That's the type of thing that will get so much easier as we play it more. Remember how hard it used to be to wrap your head around Expert songs in GH/RB?

I can't buy this game hard enough.

I really did LOL at the double entendre there....implied or not

I don't normally get on well with DMC type games, but so far this is just about batshit crazy insane enough to hold my interest. I mean, if I saw what I thought I saw, my clothes just turned into a dragon thing and ate the boss I was fighting.

I love it.

I've been kinda lukewarm on this kinda thing recently (my housemate owns Ninja Gaiden 2 and borrowed DMC4 for ages and I've hardly played either of them) but the demo blew me away. Definitely on the list.

I confess, I was laughing the entire time, and it gave me a very big chub. It's smoother than DMC.

Maybe playing it in English will change my mind, but the Japanese demo really impress me all that much.

Are you sure the PSN demo will be up today?

Yep. It's there in Europe (http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2009/12/03/%e2%80%98heads-up%e2%80%99-playstation-store-update-3rd-december-2009/) already if you want to create a UK account, but it should be up around 7:30-8ish EST with the regular Thursday US update later on.

Wow... this game is really, really good. I will rent it or grab it when it drops down to $40. Very impressed. I'll download the PS3 version tomorrow.

I think that's going to be the death of this game. Its target audience - core gamers - use Gamefly or wait for price drops. There's little incentive to make a game like this anymore.

I'm as guilty as you, here.

This is my game of the year.

If you like this genre even a little bit, this is its pinnacle, and you would be remiss to pass on this one.

Very few games get me to play them through multiple times these days but I have been through this one 4 times and counting.

If this really is what I think it is:

Ultimate Freudian Slip.

I have only one thing to say: Shotgun Trumpet.

Well, played both demo's now. The 360 does indeed crap all over the PS3 version.

Plus that epic epic clocktower scene was freaking epic.

I already preordered, but that's sealed now.

This game goes against every sensibility I have about games being taken seriously, but damn, if I didn't love every second of it. Absolute buy for me.

That wasn't on purpose. :p

After trying it again I enjoyed it more this time, but the button presses for combos still didn't feel as tight as I'd like it to. The timing just felt weird.

Damn. I'm pretty jaded when it comes to action games, but I don't think I've ever played anything quite as... insane as that demo. It's just so outrageously over the top that this game shot up to #1 on my "Must Buy" list.

That's what the game had always been looking like, but actually playing the demo really cements how insane it actually is. It was already a "must buy" but this has made it a "drop everything and only play it", much like Assassin's Creed 2 and Batman: AA became for me.
