Okay so I watch this guy pretty religiously and I figured I would start posting videos here that might, at some times, pertain to us. He's done it before, I know.
So, here's the first Craig Ferguson On....Mac Vs. PC:

Starts at about 3:15 in. And he's talking about the ad campaign.

So on the money. Glad to hear someone with a well heard voice saying it.
Every time I see one of those ads I don't want to buy something, rather I want more than anything to stab Justin Long to death with a rusty spoon then remove one of his legs and use it bludgeon Steve Jobs to death with it.
I wish I could tell that to a focus group.
Are you sure fits isn't sidelining as this guy? All scots sound the same :P

The problem with those commercials is that I would rather buy something that John Hodgeman represents than something Justin Long represents. Obviously, this was not their intention.
Also, funny vid.

I've always thought those Mac vs PCs were deliciously ironic. Sure, on the surface they were poking fun at the PC (and doing a good job) but the Mac personification is almost as big of a condemnation of the Mac-hipster crowd, if unintentionally.

As Lo Pan would say, "Indeed!"
After that, I guess Leno is the only other one I can watch, thanks mostly to Monday night's headlines. (I used to like Kimmel, but he lost his sharpness after the first couple of seasons.)
I absolutely cannot stand Letterman or O'Brien.

I absolutely cannot stand Letterman or O'Brien.
I agree on both. I used to love Letterman (we're talking a decade ago), but when I watch him, his humor isn't funny to me. He seems to be about the cheap political points, rather than the funny. Leno, when he cracks a political joke, gives off a distinct vibe that he's not coming at it with an agenda. Letterman is all about his agenda, and it bleeds into and through his bit.
O'Brien has just become a swollen head, in my opinion. I don't find him amusing.

I used to have a real problem with Ferguson, but I'm sort of coming round to him. Despite the not so erm... Fine past he had over here way back, his is definitely the late night show I'd watch if I lived over there. His correspondent's dinner speech wasn't as good (nay, harsh, perhaps) as Colbert's, but again, had me warming to him.
Plus, god, anything over fucking Conan. That guy is like herpes to funny!
Re the first video, the fact with the Mac vs PC ads that you have the totally awesome John Hodgman portraying PC, and some hipster douchebag as the Mac, says it all. And over here we have the also totally awesome David Mitchell as PC, and his sort of douchey comedy partner Robert Webb as the Mac. It's a bizarre choice.
And I thought the latest one with the talk of advertising money was pretty douchey too. Advertising your product by telling people that your competitor sucks is just petty, and lame.

I'm thinking Conan will get an uptick over the next couple months while they wind down, Craig will go way up between then and Jimmy Fallon taking over, Fallon will lead for about a week thanks to new curiosity, and then Craig will be ahead for the majority of the time the both of them are on.

Ferguson Tells TV Critics to Give Fallon a Chance
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Filed at 7:07 a.m. ET
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. (AP) -- The Craig Ferguson-Jimmy Fallon late-night competition appears to be starting on a gracious note.
At a meeting Wednesday of the Television Critics Association, Ferguson suggested that reviewers wait to sharpen their pens until Fallon adjusts to the new job. Fallon is expected to take over ''Late Night'' in March.
''I challenge you all to this: Give Jimmy a month before you review him,'' Ferguson told the group.
He questioned whether any critics thought he would last as host of CBS' ''Late Late Show,'' which he took over four years ago. And he suggested Fallon, a former ''Saturday Night Live'' cast member, may be finding the late-night spotlight less comfortable.
There's been a bit of unfair negative buzz about Fallon before he's even started, Ferguson said.
Fallon is ''kind of like the reverse Barack Obama. It's like he hasn't done anything yet, but everybody is commenting on his performance,'' Ferguson said. ''Give him a chance.''
Video blogs providing a behind-the-scenes peek at Fallon's preparations to take over for Conan O'Brien have been online since December.
Ferguson may feel he's in a position to be magnanimous, given that his show has been steadily gaining in the ratings on ''Late Night.''
In NBC's late-night shuffle, O'Brien will join the ''Tonight Show'' as host in June, with current host Jay Leno moving to a new daily prime-time show at 10 p.m. for NBC.
On the personal side Wednesday, a reporter congratulated Ferguson on his recent marriage, to art dealer Megan Wallace Cunningham, and asked if she had any interest in being on his show.
''I can categorically say that I would not have married a woman that had any interest in being on my show,'' Ferguson replied, drawing laughs.

Here's a quick little interview from Men's Journal (http://www.mensjournal.com/exit-interview-craig-ferguson): What adventure most changed your life?
Not long after I got sober 16 years ago, I was filming a low-budget BBC thing in Portugal and had three days off. I was dating the drummer of an all-female rock band, so she flew over from London. When I picked her up at the airport I asked if she wanted to go for a swim, and she said, “No, let’s road-trip to Africa.” I said, fuck it, all right. What’s the point of dating a drummer from an all-girl rock band unless you’re going to listen to her? So we drove a crappy Renault rental car across southern Spain, took the car on a ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar to Tangier, Morocco, bought a giant bejeweled scimitar, and then back to Portugal in time for me to start filming again. It’s a round-trip of about 1,500 miles, and I realized that had I not gotten sober, I probably would’ve spent those three days in a bar. Sobriety didn’t have to be endless penance for my past: It could be more of an adventure than drinking.
What skill should every man have?
To be able to clean a fish. I’m icked out by it, and there’s stuff inside a fish that you have no business eating, but it’s a survival thing. You should be able to go out in a boat, catch a fish, and eat it.
What one thing should every man know about women?
They’re ruthless. If they decide they want something, they’re much more single-minded than men.
What’s the biggest bet you ever made?
I’m Scottish, and we don’t do gambling. The whole idea of, Hey, I’ll give you money and you might give me some back? Fuck you.
Do you have a recurring dream?
I used to have a dream every night in which I’d see an atom bomb go off. The dream would always be different up to that point, so I never knew it was coming, then I’d see a mushroom cloud. It was probably because growing up in Scotland we used to hear American B-52s flying overhead to patrol the edge of Soviet airspace. The dream went away after the Berlin Wall came down.
Do you have a scar that tells a story?
I have a scar on my right hand, about two inches long. Depending on how I feel I’ll either tell you I was stabbed or I punched a window or I pulled a baby from a burning building.
What’s the best advice you ever received?
When I was in my early 20s I was doing a theater variety show with an old vaudeville comic. I found it terribly difficult to do this slapstick scene in which I chased a big sausage around and got a custard pie in the face and seltzer sprayed down my pants. The old comic said my problem was that I was trying to do it too fast, before I was ready. In his Cockney accent, he told me, “Hurry up and take your time. In fact, do that in your whole fuckin’ life and you can’t go wrong.”
What’s the best advice you ever gave?
I saw a car flipped over on the 101 freeway, so I stopped and ran over. This guy was upside down, and there were two kids in the car, but nobody was really hurt. The guy said, “Get my kids out first,” but it was a two-door car. I tried to explain that we couldn’t get the kids out until he was out, but he seemed to be in shock and kept saying, “No, no, I’m okay.” So I said, “Dude, you are upside down on the 101. You’re a long fucking way from okay. Get out of the car.”
What song do you have to hear once a week?
“Neat Neat Neat,” by the Damned. It’s the first punk song I heard that sounded like a fight. It still adrenalizes me. I remember seeing the Damned back in the day at the Glasgow Apollo, and I considered them rock gods. Then I met them when we had them on the show and they were quite small, which was weird.
How do you make your favorite drink?
I put tea into a pot, pour boiling water over it, and let it sit for a while. Then I pour milk into a cup and I pour the tea on top. It’s my shame as a naturalized American that I still drink tea.
What’s the best cure for a hangover?
For me, either keep drinking or go to rehab. I’m an all-or-nothing type of guy.
Do you have any tattoos you regret?
I’ve got one tattoo that I don’t regret. It’s my family coat of arms on my right shoulder. I got it in remembrance of my father. My father hated tattoos. It’s the Celtic paradox: Get a tattoo in memory of someone who hated tattoos.
What skill do you wish you could master?
I’m trying to master flying an airplane. Aviation is the complete opposite of show business. In show business, you live by bullshit. In aviation, you bullshit, you die.

When first Ferguson came on, I didn't like him at all. He was...a placeholder. At least that's what it seemed to me.
Somewhere in the last few years he's just said fukitall, and started wearing his heart, and his soul on his sleeve. And it's endearing, and that's where his laughs come from IMO.

With you 100% on that. I still think Letterman is a better interviewer than Ferguson, though even with that I think Ferguson is improving. That said, Ferguson's a better interviewer than Conan.
But anyway, Ferguson's funnier than both so, he's got that.
Much of my dislike of him though stems from knowing him when he worked over here, and I think he'd be first to say he'd like people not to judge him on that basis!

Craig's got one badass mug (http://www.tvsquad.com/2009/04/24/craig-ferguson-officially-has-the-most-badass-mug-in-the-history/)...
But one lesser known, some would say downright boring, tradition has gone by the wayside. Maybe that's because the choices are usually something boring. There was Johnny Carson's face mug, Conan O'Brien's Eisenhower mug and some boring old mug that's so dull, they couldn't even sell it in the gift shop to tourists who would buy a bag of puke if it had the Last Call with Carson Daly logo on it.
All of that changed when CBS' Craig Ferguson revived this grand tradition by jamming a cardiac needle of adrenaline into its heart with his mug.
Now he has something personal and crazy that gives his show a stronger sense of style and naturalness that cements his presence on the show. It also doesn't hurt that this mug could kick the ass of any other coffee mug in the history of late night, if coffee mugs had asses.
I saw this episode. She looked pretty hot in that red dress!
And the mug is pretty neat too.
I found it kind of interesting that he talked about that museum a week or so before she came on the show. You think there's anything to that, or that it's merely coincidence?
That mug is the greatest mug ever. I never knew such wonder existed :D
From what I've seen I love Craig Ferguson a lot more than any of the other hosts. It's just a shame that the stuff is so topical about America that it can never be shown over here really.
...my computer screen, making me laugh with this opening.
For anyone else who needs a laugh today, hopefully this will give you something to smile about. I didn't really need a laugh, so much as I was just bored and started looking for something else on Youtube and wound up on this. (Imagine that.)

I just caught this on the AFN replay of last night's show, which (I guess) was a reairing of last Friday's show. Anyhow, I really liked what Craig had to say here and after one of the worst days at work, since I've been here, it made me smile. Good on Craig Ferguson.

...Twitter!! (http://www.thewrap.com/ind-column/craig-fergusons-cheeky-twitter-debut-14022)
No, I mean..he's actually on Twitter now (http://twitter.com/CraigyFerg).
Craig Ferguson is now on Twitter -- and he's just as cheeky online as he is on-air.
"Can I say fuck on this thing?" the CBS "Late Late Show" host tweeted Monday evening around 9:45 p.m., less than 12 hours after first signing on to the mircoblogging service.
Then, two minutes later: "Oh this is too awesome. Fuckity fuckity heck. (don't want to go too far)."
Among the early highlights of the feed from @craigyferg (whose authenticity was confirmed by a CBS pr rep):
-- "I follow no one. Except Dave I suppose. Or the local news. Or the smell of ham."
-- "Watching the who @ the superbowl made me sad. Like watching my grampa play the spoons."
-- "I'm concerned I watch too much Mythbusters. I may need geek rehab."
Craiggers isn't the first late-night host on Twitter.
NBC's Jimmy Fallon jumped on to the service even before his show premiered last year. He's now got more than 2.4 million followers and has sent out nearly 2,000 tweets since joining.
Ferguson announced his Twitter debut on his show early Tuesday morning. No surprise, his follower count started skyrocketing, jumping by 2000 in the space of a few minutes.
The always self-deprecating Ferguson summed up the importance of his Twitter bow thusly:
"The fact that I am on twitter probably means it's on the way out," he wrote.

There's no such thing as too much MythBusters. The only failing of Discovery HD is that they're never showing MythBusters at the same time as Discovery SD, leading to me watching more Discovery SD than I'd frankly like.

I just finished watching this. I like it when it's like it normally is, but I also liked this kind of lower key a little more quiet episode as well too.
That was cool that he mentioned Snyder too. I wasn't the biggest fan of the guy, but his show was nice and quiet and cool for a pre-bed evening, you know? Not loud or obnoxious.
Good stuff!
