The original Crackdown has to go down as one of the all time great guilty pleasures. There was little story, little visual innovation, and repetitive gameplay. And it was an absolute blast to play. It was the video game equivalent of Peeps. And I assume the sequel will be just as much fun to play. Microsoft has released several new screens from Crackdown 2, and they're just as explode-y as you'd expect. They've also given us a plethora of renders and character models from the game, which can be found here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/colonyofgamers/sets/72157622868038410/show/).

This time around the game supports full 4 player co-op as well as 16 person competitive multiplayer. It's slated for release sometime in 2010 on the 360.

Dude, Peeps are gross. Crackdown was awesome. I don't think it should be categorized as a "guilty pleasure." It was thin on story, sure, but plenty of games are thin on story and don't have that counted against them. I suppose the graphics didn't raise the bar, but they had a neat cell shaded quality that made the game look a bit different, and the graphics were certainly not below the standard of the day. It wasn't a complicated game, but it was fun. Nothing guilty about liking fun.

I can't say I'm excited about having zombies in Crackdown 2, but 4-player co-op is a dream come true.

Eh, how are the Zombies any different than the Mutants in the original?

mmmm Agility Orbs made of Peeps mmm

Can't wait for this one. I, too, am saddened that they felt the need to tack on zombies to the game because it's the latest pop culture fad. That said, I'll be too busy munching on my Peepy Orbs to care. :D

I now want as the pre-order plushie for this game, to be a peep inspired orb. If we get one, all credit to you :D

Little visual innovation?? Speak for yourself. I found it took cell shading to a whole new level.

They're entirely different textures. ;)

I'd like to see them make the vehicles actually fun and useful, I never drove in the first game, there was no point to it.

VG247: The obvious one, as far as I’m concerned: there was no real reason in the in the first game to beef up your car powers, and loads of people finished without ever attending to them. What are you doing in the second game to make sure they work properly?

Billy Thomson: To make sure people actually use cars?

Yeah.

Billy Thomson: Well, the cars we’re putting in have a co-op slant to them as well. A lot of the weapons you’ll see in the game have got turreted weapons that are bigger and more powerful, and they can be strapped up onto certain vehicles. Some vehicles can carry up to three of four different turrets as well, so we’re pushing the co-op nature in that respect. We’re also putting in more systems for gaining driving skill as well. So rather than just running people over all the time, which was nothing short of a pain in the arse in the first game, we’re making sure that stuff you do in the cars is actually fun and provide skills for the player as well. It’s small things like that, as well as providing more gameplay modes for players.

That's nice to see I guess, but not the answer I wanted. Crackdown was all about being vertical to me, I'd really like to see them add some sort of flying vehicles, whether it's just a jetpack (ok, I want it to be more like Tribes, sue me) or at most a helicopter.

So, nothing really? It sounds like it's easier to kill people if you decide to use one, but no real reason to actually decide to do so in the first place. Kind of shame.

Yeah I pretty much ignored the car aspect. When you can run around like the Flash, there's very little reason to care.

Oh goodness, I hope this game is as good as I want it to be.

I don't even care if they tweaked vehicles on the lower ability levels or not, as long as the rest of the game is as awesome as the first.
