Cuteness... burns... killing me.
I've always wanted one. As one dog lover to another (at least, I hope you are), I say, congrats on an addition to the family.

That's awesome man :D But.... what's his name? Or are you looking to the CoG community for suggestions?

We chose the name Chloe, I tend to name my pets with human names. Supposedly if you get the short hair breeds are good for people normally alergic to pet hair.
Anyways Chloe is alot of fun. As soon as we get home she is jumping all over us demanding attention. Chloe is a total lapdog, whenever we are home he is constantly trying to get a spot on our laps or other places of warmth such as crotches and armpits. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night just to find the dog snuggled between my neck and the pillow my head is on.
Whelp, time to go for a walk.

I'm guessing Chloe is a she, since you first referred to a her in the OP plus Chloe would be a hilarious name for a male dog.
Sounds like you found yourself a real lovable dog, congrats!

Congrats on the new pet. Good name.
My daughter is just over two, she wants a dog, and these pictures set that discussion off again. Thanks. Now I might be willing to entertain getting her a wiener dog in a year or so, though.

Yes, she is a female! My daughter is in kindergarten and about to turn five. We also have a GIANT cat so she is used to having a pet, just not as hyper as a dog. I would wait till about 4.5 or 5 years of age since Dachshunds are very curious and hyperactive. Then again I'm guessing the non miniature breed would be a little more laid back.
I'm trying to teach my daughter early on about responsibility so I have her feed the dog and walk her.

dammit cuteness factor is just damn much for me, i used to own dalmations when i was little, and my dad had a weiner dog.
since our oldest dalmation had to be put down due to old age, i've thought of buying him a weiner dog like the one he used to own when he was my age.

My cat could eat your dog... not that I would want him to. It is just that my cat is probably twice your dog's size.
She is possibly the cutest thing ever, besides a Tea cup Scottish fold kitten.

Congratulations! Dachshunds are a great companion, and can be very protective too. I have a mini Dachshunds and a Brazilian Mastiff.

Just be warned--the "dachshund alarm system" is VERY sensitive.
In short, they bark at every damn noise ever.
Been sleeping okay? :D

I'm totally addicted to animals..
I have had fish, birds,Hamsters,Dogs and cats.
There is a strange feeling I get when an animal sits on my lap and shows me affection that requires no words or buying of expesive jewelry. I get along better with animals than with most of the family.
