I pimped this over on EvAv but man... if you enjoy an adventure game with gameplay elements akin to the Ace Attorney series but a much more serious (and very awesome) story, go out and grab this thing.

I can't say enough good things about it, though some people might cry about the lack of gameplay. Granted, I'm a fan of stories where someone tries to change the past to save somebody which ends up leading to even worse outcomes than if they'd just left well enough alone. That's the story of Time Hollow, only things keep getting worse and worse the more the main character tries to fix things.

I'm not finished it yet but I'm very curious to see how the story resolves itself.

That sounds really interesting. One of the things I focus on most for games are the stories, and I also enjoy stories like that.

Like I said in the other thread, I was going to try to get it this week, but it went from Available Now to Low on Gamefly the day I was going to try to get it. If only I had tried to get it last week instead. I'm tempted to buy it, but Evil Avnovice said it was short and I can't really afford extra games right now, so I guess I'll have to wait a little while to check it out.

I completely forgot about this game. This is what happens to me without you around, Spigot.

Now it is home. I can haunt Spigot here too :D. I'm going to grab this since a Spigot recommend is never wrong. I'm not even going to wait for Gamefly...i'm actually going to buy it...a shock to my wallet for sure. You being a fan of stories...so am I...if the story is good enough it pulls the gameplay along for me...now just to find a game store when i'm in class all day long...damn...

And where is the other handheld guru...so it completes the HH forum :D

Hooray! Purple Santa is here! I was about to PM you to make sure you got your butt over here. If EvAvnovice makes the jump, we shall be unstoppable!

And yeah. It is a little on the short side but it's one of those games that, like Ico or Shadow Of The Colossus, I don't feel cheated for paying full price for despite the relative brevity. Nothing in the game feels like padding and the story is top-notch.

I'll definitely buy it at some point. I have a ton of DS games that are pretty short and don't have much replay value but I bought them to support those types of games. Plus I like having my collection, and all my Ace Attorney games and Hotel Dusk need some new friends. :D

I had already budgeted out most of the games I can afford to buy in the fall though and am already having to wait to play a few other games, so I was hoping to rent it for now and then buy it in a few months. Oh well. I'm already buried in RPGs to keep me busy, so I guess I'll just get to enjoy a nice story driven game sometime in the future. :)

Plus EvAvnovice compared it to Trace Memory in the other thread, and I somehow missed playing that game, so I'll have to try to check that out too.

(I'll probably end up thinking about Time Hollow all week and then just ordering it. I'm no better at resisting buying games than you are, Spigot. :p)

Well, Trace Memory was made by the same guys who did Hotel Dusk, though it's wildly different. Good, but different. It's also VERY short... I mean, it makes Time Hollow look like War & Peace in comparison.

Yeah, if I don't see EvAvnovice sometime tonite, his usual haunting hours (you think he's a vampire? :)) we might have to go kidnap him or something

You finished the game already? Sheesh...some game you plow through...others it's like waiting for Godot with you (cough...cough...TWEWY). I'll be playing this weekend with it...you can taunt me as i am slow to finish :p

I'll have to just rent that instead then. Thanks.

Oh, I haven't finished Time Hollow yet. I have a feeling I'm pretty close though. I'm on Chapter 5 and I know there are at least 6 chapters. That said, it is the kind of game that you just don't want to put down. Any spare moment I've had at work or before bed has been spent with the game... which is probably the reason why I'm not feeling very good today... too many late nights.

Trace Memory, on the other hand, can be finished in an evening if you work at it. It's fun but insultingly short.

I wholeheartedly recommend Trace Memory. Like Time Hollow, it's short, but the game's frequent and innovative use of its stylus controls makes for a more immersive experience over Konami's effort.

Off-topic: I hope you people are happy....;_;

I'm getting Trace Memory next from Gamefly. I had heard of the game before, but I never looked into it too much, so thank you for the recommendation. :) And hopefully I won't have to wait too long to get a chance to play Time Hollow.

And I'm definitely happy that the Handheld (and wacky games) crew is back together. I'm looking forward to discovering all the games that I didn't know about that I'll have to play. :D

That was the one thing I worried would go missing and until I saw most of the faces I know and love from EvAv make it over here, I was a little concerned.

I'd hoped to get to EvAvnovice before he was reddened but I was too slow. Oh well. At least he'll poke in here from time to time... WON'T YOU?

I'll be here. I'll still spend my majority of time over at Evil Avatar, but I can swing by every now and then. ;)

I love Trace Memory. I keep trying to convince my roommate to play it, but instead he crawls through 40 more hours of FFTA2, alas.

I haven't been able to spend anytime at all on Grimoire of the Rift. If only I didn't get Etrian Odyssey II a week before. :(

Enjoying it so far (never really got in to Hotel Dusk...I was kinda worried I was going down a wrong path and would have to restart or something). My only minor niggle is that it's hard to tell if things are worth examining or not ; you click on a calendar but it just tells you it's a wall.

Don't worry. You'll get a feel for what's worth clicking on and what's not after the first chapter or two. By then you'll have a pretty good feel of the internal logic of the game and can just roll with it.

Man, Chapter 5 is LONG. I keep expecting it to end but nope... another plot twist hits and I'm back to screwing up the past AGAIN.

The sixth and final chapter is longer.

I figured.

I just started Chapter 6 now and man... my brain... it hurts!

So many twists and turns... I need a flow chart!

You'll have a relatively easy ride compared to the last couple of chapters. ;)

Great little sleeper. This one's all story.

Anyone get the second ending? Any ideas as to what happens?
