About the Amazon link

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this. Move it if you like. :)

So, we have an Amazon.com link that we can use to "support the colony", but I was wondering if there is any way to link CoG to my Amazon.co.uk purchases.
If this year is anything like the last few, I will be doing a lot of my Christmas shopping on Amazon, and I'd be happy to support CoG in the process if at all possible.

I'm not sure how tied into each other the Amazon sites are, but I did attempt something on the UK site and you can certainly try it. Pick out the item you want to buy and at the end of the URL for the page put in "/cog-20" without the quotes.

I also tried this on the US site as well and it still came up with the item again. After that I think you just have to put it in your shopping cart and purchase. You'll have to do this for each item probably, but it's the only conceivable way it works.

We won't know whether it actually works until a month or two down the line and I'm not sure how detailed of reports we get. Nick (bapenguin) oversees that.

When amazon.com links get auto tagged, it also adds "ref=nosim/" before the "cog-20" part. Is that (presumably) needed for the referral to work for the UK site?

And from a little searching, it looks like you do have to sign up for the affiliate program for Amazon UK (or any other countries) for those referral links to work.

Thing is the links autochange themselves on the forum to include the cog-20 and whatever else. I was just explaining how to possibly do it from the UK versions as you are sitting on their site and not following links from here.

Theoretically it would be the same, although it is sounding like you have to sign up for all the countries from what Wraith posted.
