Soul Calibur IV Star Wars DLC Soon

In a shocking move that I'm sure absolutely nobody saw coming, IGN (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/920/920999p1.html?RSSwhen2008-10-17_041600&RSSid=920999) is reporting that the exclusive characters that the PS3 and 360 versions of Soul Calibur IV recieved will soon be DLC for each system. That's right, if you've been dreaming of Yada Vs. Vader, well, for one, you need something else to do, but at least now you'll be able to live out that fantasy.

Yoda and Vader will each be available to download in Japan next week for what amounts to about $6. Nothing has been announced for the US yet, but you can bet we'll see them soon enough.

I think they probably waited a bit too long on these, they're releaseing them just when all the major Fall titles are going to hit. A few weeks ago probably would have been better timing.

I haven't picked this one up in a while. The title was fun and all, but it just hasn't kept my attention as much as I thought it would. Even though $6 makes Yoda a relatively cheap date, I don't see myself plunking down any cash for the download.

All the DLC so far has been music and costume packs so far. I'm not sure if it works, but if you're willing to waste 99 cents I'm sure you could try.

I would've expected at least some kind of customization possibilities to come along with this. I mean, at least some kind of costume change or at the very least the fighting style.

I wouldn't have minded if Namco charged us $6 to add in new characters using new weapon types for CAF and a whole set of style weapons for them.

In their defense, $6 is only a bit more than you payed for previous characters (assuming that the levels, costumes, music and story were all free). But since it will probably be another 100k unlock code, fucking shame on Namco.

Absolutely. Now most gamers will have moved on to the other big titles and left SC on the shelf. Get them back on the horse with a good will free character and then try to squeeze a few extra bucks from the extra costumes and such. You've got to throw us a bone every now and then.

Even Oblivion had some free content to lure folks back

So here's my problem... I was playing SCIV online yesterday and probably played 5 matches against Yodas. I have not payed for the DLC, and didn't have anything to download, which means everything was already on the disk and all you're paying for with your $5 is an unlock to use the character. That pisses me off because it's content that was already completed when the game shipped, was on the disk, and the developer decided to make everyone pay extra for it. It's purely greedy, and I won't support it.
