It's upon us again...another weekend! What's everyone playing? I'm guessing almost everyone is playing Dead Space or at least waiting for it from Gamefly (that's me :(). Some Saint's Row maybe? Or are you waiting for LBP next week and doing some back log gaming (I see your hand raised Gorvi :)). It's the weekend...go play ;)

My games:
Sainst Row 2
Silent Hill : Homecoming
GH III w/Ms. Claus
Watching Ms. Claus play Viva Pinata 2
Time Hollow- a game that needs to be checked out who own a DS

Ach, this is a busy weekend. Friday morning (way, way too early) I'm running a 5k. Then I'm taking my son to a boy scout camp from Saturday to Sunday. Sunday afternoon is Iai and Kendo.

I'm tired just thinking about it...

But next weekend, I'm setting aside a nice block o' time for LBP and Fable 2.

EDIT: Okay, so next weekend no LBP. At least until the religious references get fixed. Soooo, maybe Dead Space?

I hate Gamefly's turnaround time for me. They haven't even acknowledged I've shipped out games to them yet. I play games for a week, have a week without games. Play again for a week, then another week without games. I stagger the two titles I get from them, but even then I could ship games days apart and still wind up with two shipped back to me, in my mailbox, on the same date. Basically I've paid to play 4 games this month. That's not bad I guess, but it's not much better than renting at the store either. And no waiting.

Anyway, with my rant over, I may just go to the videostore tonight and rent Dead Space if I get no notification from GF today that my returned games have been received in their warehouse. I don't have anything new to play right now so I've been playing Blue Dragon some more. Might also put more time into Saints Row 1 so I can get around to playing the second eventually.

Sorry to hear GF didn't work out or isn't working out. I thought being on the East Coast and just waaaay north of where I am...you would of gotten the same great service I get. My turnaround is 2-3 days max. I didn't get Dead Space but that's a first not getting a hot title for me...I just want to know, where do you rent from? I would love to go into a place and pick up a hot title and play it...only Blockbuster by me and it's kinda small...although I haven't been in there in ages...maybe they stock games better now...

Play SR1. If anything it will keep you entertained for the weekend...I mean who can complain about driving around blowing stuff up, shooting etc etc...missions? what missions? ;) I have SR2...if you down the road want to borrow it just send me a PM...not sure if you actually want to own it or not...I think it's a better rental...I got suckered in for the pre-order goodies..the pre-order whore I am :).

As much Wild ARMs XF as I can get in. I'm about 42 hours in but I've still got at least a good 25 hours to go in the game. Not that it's a bad thing, not at all, I'm absolutely in love with the game. I had just hoped to finish it before Star Ocean: First Departure comes out, but that's not going to happen as that's next week. SO is just going to have to wait, I'm not putting Wild ARMs down.

FFXI should see a good bit of play, too. A friend who I'd been playing with since I started came back to the game after being away for over a year, so I'll be using the wonderful new level sync option to duo with his BST (currently 24). That should be a good way to get some merits and have fun. It'll be so strange, though, since I won't have Leave yet at that level.

I'd love to say that I'll get in some Disgaea 3, but I don't see that happening. Any time I get on the PS3 will more than likely be split between the Resistance 2 beta and the Motorstorm Pacific Rift demo. Man, that demo is fun.

Dead Space, Dead Space, maybe some Gears online, (might as well try to win that Gears 2 Edition 360) and more Dead Space. If you are still on the fence about this game, don't be. Take Fits' advice. So far, it is my GotY.

Starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, I'll be gaming for 24-hours (see my sig)! So I have a metric shit-ton of games I'm planning on playing, including:

Dead Space
NHL09
Halo 3
Call of Duty 4
Tales of Vesperia
Burnout Paradise

...and about 6 more!

I got the last two endings of Silent Hill I hadn't seen last night. I'm hoping to pick up Dead Space for the PS3 tonight, if not, I'll be playing WoW and Mass Effect all weekend. I missed ME the first time around and just got a copy of the PC version in the mail today.

I hate Gamefly's turnaround time for me.Yeah, they see the games are going to Maine and are just like "Pfft, that's pretty much Canada, screw them." and wait around a few days to ship stuff out.

I actually had one game a month for a while, but that just got annoying after a while since I was waiting for games almost half the time.

Nothing new on my playlist this weekend, just some CoD 4 and possibly some C&C 3 for the 360.

I might boot up Red Alert 2 for my PC again, and continue replaying through that in preperation for Red Alert 3.

I would love to play (and finish) Dead Space, but thanks to Microsoft's hardware quality (or lack thereof), I'll be watching EPL action and waiting for my HDMI cable to show up for my PS3.

On a positive note, according to the lady at Microsoft my 360 should be back with me today or Monday at the latest. How they managed it so fast I don't know, unless they've sent me a newer model.

I think most of this weekend will be spent playing a new title called "Oh crap, we procrastinated packing and now we only have 2 weeks until it's time to move". The game sucks but in the end I guess all the achievements are worth it.

I'm hungering for a new RTS in the style of Warcraft III. I reinstalled it last night and played through the epilogue (training level) right before bed and was wondering if a newer game in the same style has come out in recent years. With my wife distracting herself from the morning sickness with movies on her laptop I'm looking to maybe distract myself with some gaming. :)

So you are looking to distract yourself from her morning sickness?

Dawn of War 2 is going to be in that more RPG style rts. Freedom Force -vs- The Third Reich is also somewhat similar, but much more of an RPG and only a few units at a time.

Is she cute?

I'm going to try to get some more time into The Witcher. It seems like every time I have just a few minutes for gaming, I can't see getting tied up in a big RPG and just fire up Hinterland to raid a couple bases.

Maybe some King's Bounty for some tactics.

I also picked up Alone In The Dark at Target for $7.48, so I might go for a little horror FPS; if I can wrestle the controls and interface into submission!

I REALLY liked Alone in the Dark for 360. I thin the game gets a bad rap, but it's mostly because of the controls. If you are a person that can get around controls, I think the game is fantastic. Has issues and isn't perfect, but one of the most surprising games I've played this year. Surprising in terms of my low expectations due to reviews beforehand. I loved nearly every minute of it.

That makes it sound bad. :) I mean just something to occupy my time while she's so sick. I stop whatever I'm doing now to help her if she needs something, but I find myself bored sometimes with nothing to do while waiting for her to need something (which I love doing for her btw). Under $20 is definitely a "must buy". The controls are a bit wonky but it's not the end all for the game...

Yes. If you liked Hotel Dusk and other point and click on the DS which I can't remember at the moment...it's a must buy. I've started it and it's already drawing me in. But this recommendation is with you liking point and click..if you don't...then maybe not...

I'll be playing a little Destruction side in Warhammer. Since I'm finding myself sort of uninterested in the game, I want to see if I find Dest anymore entertaining. I can't figure out what class I'd like to try though. Shaman seems interesting, but I have no desire to be a healbot. Chosen is fun, but there's so many of them. Squig Herders are broken, I hear...

I'll probably put a little bit of time into WoW.

Then Also The Witcher: EE, Stalker: Clear Sky and some Dungeons and Dragons 4E tonight to play my 11 Halfling Ranger.

Went to the movie store tonight and rented Dead Space. Almost grabbed another game too since I had a 2 for 1 coupon, but instead grabbed a chick flick for my girlfriend. Fuck Gamefly and their slowness. Will be starting Dead Space in an hour or so. Can't fucking wait. Haven't been this excited for a game in a while.

Also, received a giftcard in the mail, a Visa prepaid debit, from my company for getting my free annual physical exam. It's 75 bucks, so looks like I'll have a videogame in my future...whether it's Fable 2 or Left 4 Dead, I don't know. Fallout 3 is already a given. Or perhaps I'll buy the quick charge kit, since the play and charge is a piece of shit and we have batteries that will no longer charge or work, about 3 of them to be exact. So many options...but I ramble....

All your game money? I've only finished the first chapter and I don't think I'm pulled in yet. Haven't been scared once, but still, it's only early on. I almost went out and bought it tonight as well, but decided to rent instead. I'm glad I did.

I am done for the night but tomorrow I'll be playing nearly all day. Hopefully it picks up in a major way. I'm just not too keen on the look of the enemies. They seem rather boring. Resident Evil 4 creeped me out from the very start, this definitely didn't.

Was this thread ever front-paged? If not, it needs to be. I love the Weekend Gamer and Monday Blues threads and demand to see them continued over here.

I'm working this weekend but I'm also going to get some quality gaming in. I will spend most of my time playing Dead Space. I'm just starting Chapter 4 and love the game. I don't find it scary though it is creepy in a Bioshock kind of way. I can't wait to see what other horrors lurk in the goopy bowels of the Ishimura...

If I get around to firing up my PSP, I'll play some more Jeanne D'Arc. I doubt the DS will get much play this weekend...

I did play some Wipeout HD last night... I suck so much at that game, but I keep coming back to it. I might do another zip through Linger In Shadows if I feel bored and see if I can't unlock a few more trophies. If I'm feeling some strange urge to NOT play Dead Space, I might fire up Yakuza.

Lutheran: Time Hollow is very good, but it's also very short. It took me a week to beat it. I'd give it a rent though it is cheap and worth the $30...

Well, I took advantage of Gamestop's buy two, get one free offer on used games, and picked up Armored Core 4, Mass Effect and Overlord. Dead Space is not the game I hoped it would be. It's not scary, but it's decent fun. I'm glad I didn't buy it, despite the fact I'm having fun with it. Bioshock was freakier than this game. I was hoping for so much more. I really detest the enemy designs too. This is probably the least scary "survival horror" title I've ever played, due in part to the enemies. Blah.

Still fun though. Just not RE4-fun.

Those things are a pain in the rear. Freaky looking, and they jump around like crazy!

That's one thing I really like about the game so far - the enemies all have different behaviors, and I'm always interested in seeing new ones and learning their attacks, etc.

Yesterday, I played LittleBigPlanet for hours on end and even snuck a level in on my lunch today (just trying to ace a level...got a Pirate Hat for it!). Tonight I've been playing WoW and reading comics while watching Kat play Fable II. It's been a great weekend for gaming!

That's odd. Resi 4 never once scared me, but I've had some minor jumps in Dead Space.

I've had at least one or two times in Dead Space where I've jumped, but it's the audio during the times where I just walk down an empty hall and am hearing things that I can't quite make out that creeps me out. I'm not sure if I'm hearing air vents hissing, radio static or someone whispering... and that's far more creepy than things jumping out of vents.

I agree with this. I have yet to play Dead Space, but Resident Evil was always the "Rawr, scary monster jumping through a window!" kind of scary, and I never fell into that (I love the games, though). Silent Hill always took the prize for being scary with it's moody atmosphere, unknown horizons, and overall sense of dread. I need to get caught up on those games as well 8-(.

Buy Fable 2. Ms. Claus is your new best friend in co-op :D

Was this thread ever front-paged? If not, it needs to be. I love the Weekend Gamer and Monday Blues threads and demand to see them continued over here.

This was front paged the last three weeks. Heretic Machine started it and i've "fanboyed" my way in :D. So Weekend Gamer and Monday Blues will be around. It's my cotribution...as little as insignificant as it is...but in my head it's real big :p

Well, I took advantage of Gamestop's buy two, get one free offer on used games, and picked up Armored Core 4, Mass Effect and Overlord. Had a lot of options in the store, but I wanted a nice variety of thematics and genre. They didn't have the games I really wanted (Steambot Chronicles and Shadow of the Colossus) but I'm pretty happy with the haul.
I would think landing Mass Effect in a 2 for 1 was a very good haul...so yes feel happy:cool:

I know it's something simple, but both the Weekend Gamer and Monday Blues threads have become something I look forward to every week.

I agree. The whispered threats, the faint crying/chanting, and the scrawls on the wall all give me the creeps.

I did crack up when I saw the "For a good time call..." thing in the bathroom stall though. ;)

Also, I found another bit of wall writing that said "I give good Peng, 10pm every night"

I definitely think that the game is scary, just not Silent Hill-scary.

And yeah. I don't find the game getting into my brain like Silent Hill does, where it sticks with me after I turn the console off and am huddled in the corner. Siren: Blood Curse was the game that did that for me this year.

I've got a ton of stuff to play this weekend, but I really want to get a copy of Dead Space.

Man, why couldn't this come out during the summer doldrums? I'd have bought it without a thought.

Ms. Claus said you are her bestest gamer friend and any co-op is with you first. But if you aren't around...well she's a Fable ho...she's recruiting for co-op friends when you aren't around ;)

That's probably a wise move, since I've committed to playing Fable 2 co-op with another friend as well. I'll definitely be getting lots of co-op action over the coming weeks!

Hmmm, that didn't come out quite right... :o
