360 Gamertags, how many can be on one 360?

My friend is moving to China for a year (maybe more, maybe a few months less) and loaned me his 360. It's just an Arcade, but I figured I'd pick-up a starter kit with the 60gig HDD, headset and 3 months of live. My question is, if I do so, can I sign in and create a new Gamertag or will I have to use his, which, I'm assuming, is setup for offline play?

Just curiouso n this little issue, I've never actually used a 360. Although, come to think of it, I think I have a Windows Live! Gamertag, which I assume works. But eitherway, can I use that?

I have 4 on mine. You should have no trouble creating and using one.

Yes, you can have as many as you want. Just remember that if you download anything under your Tag, it will be tied to that console through the serial number. If you want to use it on another console (if you end up buying your own), you can either play it as long at you're signed in to Live to verify, or migrate the licenses through the tool on the Xbox website.

But that's a worry for another time, for now, yes, you're fine. :)

There is a limit but not sure how many. I think 10 or 12.
